Pricing has been confirmed and will soon be appearing on all retailer outlets, it's not something we plan to make a specific announcement for at the moment however.

Purify is correct, a similar example would be when Nintendo put out a full visual demo of what they wanted to achieve with Twilight Princess, and then the actual game that came out.
This was the original "vision / tech demo", and this is the end result. (that came out on the next gen btw lol)
Not to say that they lied or the final result was bad or anything, I've played twilight princess three times and loved it, just to point out that this is a common occurrence in the industry.
Regarding the specific process that's been happening with Bloodstained, part of the incredible workload the team took on as a result of the feedback from the Beta Demo has been completely remaking tons of assets from scratch, and in many other cases upgrading them drastically.
I'm a graphics nut myself, and no matter how you look at it visuals are important, so I'm happy to reassure you that although there were times in the past where the visuals were (in the public's eyes) getting worse over time, internally we're actually putting a lot of work into them and they're only getting better.
What I really suggest doing, is comparing that exact same screenshot from the KS update to the exact same spot from the Beta Demo. Try to look at all the details, and how they've changed.
Books have gone from shapeless, textureless blocks to actual books, candles now glow, textures are higher res, room exits are subtly highlighted for gameplay cues, effects lighting and environment lighting is completely night and day, the list goes on and on...
...and that's just a single screenshot...
I'm planning a "before and after" video beat for the marketing campaign, and when everyone sees the amazing transformation in its entirety I'm pretty sure it's gonna put any concerns to rest.

Will it be the same build as that via Steam or have there been any alterations (like potentially avoiding a crate boss or better support for integrated graphics)? No changes, exactly what was released to Steam previously, except it will not link to the Steam forums at the end of the demo.

Yes, we are bringing the Beta Backer Demo to GoG, there was just a slight miscommunication in the timing of that announcement from GoG, as it will be made available towards the end of this month (not a few days after the 31st). I asked Igarashi about this during Castlevania's 25th Anniversary. This information may possibly be outdated, but here is a quote from the interview. September 26, 2016 Please note Igarashi's answer is lacking specific detail. He merely confirmed that special input combos were planned for "special attacks". We can see from the Beta Demo that Bloodstained will have the weapons' magic strikes, but the martial arts and magic spells were not explicitly confirmed. Question Angel-Corlux . Any chance you guys can get some clarification on this? There are indeed special attacks in the game in the form of special moves specifically tied to certain weapons that will consume mana, and there are of course tons of shards that I'm sure will satisfy fans who are looking forward to "grand" abilities.

Question Angel-Corlux " Finally, regarding some of the comparisons of current and past graphical quality, while much of that is due to shaders and lighting work not being fully implemented into the demo, we are aware of your feedback and will be keeping a special focus on making sure the graphical quality is as high as possible. We are anxious to report on fixes and improvements we make, so please look forward to it." This was the most important thing that needed to be addressed, so I'd like to thank the staff for their efforts. I became pretty convinced that this was the case mid-way through the graphics downgrade feedback thread, but not everybody seemed totally convinced, and there remained the possibility of the downgrade being permanent, so it's great to have official confirmation. Anyway, I'm sure you guys have lots on your plate right now, so hang in there and good luck! Glad you approve, as you and others have said, we really wanted to be transparent and publicly confirm / acknowledge some of the most pressing and common criticisms we heard, and let everyone know that the team is going to be working hard on as much of the feedback we got.
Plus since the change in visuals had no context it just looked like the game was looking worse and worse for some reason over time, which is obviously not something we wanted to leave out there without addressing it. I can only imagine how that would have made fans anxious if we didn't lol.

This is Miriam's secret "Giant Ninjutsu". You use it at the beginning of the game to just flat out destroy the entire castle. Then Diane from the Seven Deadly Sins shows up and gives you her hammer because she's lost her memory for the 47th time. The final boss is Ban.

Hello everyone, I just wanted to give you all a brief update on this, this has been a very busy time as you can all imagine, but thanks to the help of my awesome producer, Iga and the team are fully aware of the feedback on this and we are discussing / working with them on this. We've used almost every visual asset the community provided regarding this feedback, and even created some of our own. While I can't yet give you details of course of the results of our conversations and work being done, I wanted you all to know that we're not ignoring this.

Hey everybody,
I've read through the entire thread and definitely appreciate all the candid feedback. I do see what you're all talking about and I've already started working with my producer on assessing what's what, and will be following up with ArtPlay and Dico to better understand exactly what's behind some of the things you've all brought up.
I also appreciate the comparison with the shapes that highlights some of the differences over time. I don't have confirmed answers just yet, but I will be getting the full story both on what the situation is now and how it will change moving forward.
And also just a quick note, since I've seen some people, both here and elsewhere, question why we weren't commenting on this etc., please keep in mind that it was the weekend, and although sometimes we work on the weekend and have crazy long days like last week, (brutal ; _ ; ) if you don't see a reply from us right away that doesn't mean we're ignoring the topic / feedback.

Had no problem with the delay... as you guys saw on the backer survey, we don't mind delays. But please Question and Angel-Corlux give us ample time to register it. I love how this project has been handled... there were no surprises, if something was happening we would be told well in advance But the way the beta was handled was atrocious. I don't know who decided to hold off on telling us about the delay... I personally think that was a bad move... if there is a heavy chance for such a delay tell us in advance, we will be fine with it (or most of us will be fine with it) but dropping a delay the day something supposed to come out... that disappointed me (and probably others). anyway... I know this is kind of a dead (or dying) thread and I bet Question and Angel-Corlux Angel-Corlux most likely read that other thread " Update on Beta Backer Demo" I just wanted to state my disappointment since I did not see them in that thread. Anyway I do want to thank you guys for your awesome work on the game so far (this is not sarcastic I do truly mean that) and besides this one bump, I feel you guys are doing an excellent job! still hyped for the game and can't wait until tomorrow for the beta. Hey there Jeff, no worries, this is a totally justified and common point of feedback we've received since having to delay the Beta Backer Demo (BBD). Indeed as you surmise, we would have loved to have given advance warning to the delay, the decision was made to try and make every effort possible to release as per schedule. It was a calculated risk that unfortunately didn't pan out. Completely understand how disappointing it was considering the "surprise" element of the delay.
Thank you so much for your kind words and support, and for your negative feedback as well! I really mean that, as much as we love hearing our praises sung (who doesn't) we also want to improve and know what everyone is thinking.

This came up as a inquiry/concern regarding the upcoming E3 2018 demo for the enemy deaths - we noticed that the monsters like Morte no longer have a unique 'death' - i.e. head flying off, bubbling/boiling when blasted with magic and instead a lot of the monsters kind of disintegrate into pink-ish sparkles/dust. Is there a particular reason for this change, or is it more of a placeholder than anything else? Angel-Corlux Hi there, not sure what you're referencing to since the demo isn't released yet, are you just talking about footage you've seen?
I can confirm that unique death animations / effects are still in the game.

Hey everyone, to clear up some confusion and allay some concerns, if we ever need to announce a delay (launching after end of 2018) the reality would be twofold:
- We planned/wanted to launch the game in 2018 but that's changed to a new date - We never announced a release date
Basically, you can have a delay while also never having announced an official release date. What I was trying to communicate with my earlier comments was that the delay would be more of an internal one since we never came out and said something like "launching March 10 2018!" or something. Iga said a long time ago that we would be hoping / aiming for first half of 2018, and that's the only reason we (505 Games) came out and clarified the date as a generic "we're planning for a 2018 release" until we announce a specific hard date. Usually the process for announcing a release date is as follows:
- No date set - Release window announced (not always necessary) - Exact release date announced - Launch
Right now we're officially and technically at the first stage of "No date set", unfortunately due to the hybrid/kickstarter nature of this game, we have previous statements and "hopes and wishes" stated by the team to contend with. That's why 2018 is/was mentioned, but as a placeholder until we reach stage 2: "Release window announced".
Regardless, if when we announce the release date, it's not in 2018, then we would not message anything based on technical explanations, since we've been hoping thus far to launch in 2018.
This is as honest and straightforward as I can be regarding this, hopefully that clears things up for everyone.

Angel-Corlux Man, I'm going to be fully supportive if you decide to delay it to 2019 to meet quality standards but please don't try to frame it as "not actually a delay" because that's absolutely what it would be. There were multiple comments by you promising a 2018 release so while that's not a very specific release date, it does come from an official source and the frame for these promises is 2018 making a 2019 release date a delay, nothing less nothing more. I'll understand that you guys need more time since this game is going to be massive with a ton of features and game modes. I'll gladly accept a delay if it means that the game will be better. But still - it would be a delay, it would be recognized as such by fans and it would be wise not to try to sugarcoat it. Really though, take all the time you need! That being said - I'm glad you guys had a great time at E3! Yeah definitely I myself mentioned in the past that we're aiming for 2018 release, but what I meant by "not technically a delay" is the fact that Bloodstained doesn't have and hasn't had an official release date, that's all. Of course everyone would see it as a delay, I don't have any illusions about that. Thanks for being so supportive!
XombieMike Totally agree, like I mentioned to Yan. I really regret if anyone feels we've been deflecting about the release date, that's not at all my intention. We've very clearly mentioned that we've been and are still planning for a 2018 release, but the official stance right now is what you linked "no official release date is set yet, but we'll be announcing one soon".
In the next few months the release window should be announced though, so hopefully that will help clear things up for everyone.

duomaxwell007 unless I have misunderstood Angel-Corlux the "demo" this month is the beta mentioned in the Kickstarter. Angel-Corlux, I think "demo" is confusing people. I know "game slice" is another term being used, but it's important to backers to understand that this demo is the beta process. Well, the official designation is Beta Backer Demo. I think that as succinctly as possible describes what it is and all 3 words are important. Angel-Corlux can correct me if I'm wrong on these interpretations. Beta: it's the beta, and that's the first word in it, so that's good to go Backer: it's just for backers Demo: the part that informs you that it isn't the type of PC game beta where you have early access to the majority of the game (typically more applicable for something that's multiplayer) External/informal use of the words separately can be confusing though, so we have to be careful. If Duo expected a FULL beta for feedback like I mentioned, that's just not something I and the majority would want anyway - this is the type of game that's best experienced in its entirety once its completed and all the little touches are in place. After you've done it once, the impressions of your first experience are set and that's the game for you. I would just avoid playing it entirely if it was a full thing because of that and it'd probably be much later down the line/too late to implement much improvement. We're not talking about Overwatch or a fighting game etc with this. Purify is spot on with the crystal ball hehe.
That's exactly the logic behind naming the upcoming Beta Backer Demo. I'm a believer in simplicity and elegance.
To answer everyone else, IGN was extremely supportive and very positive with our game. They supported us with lots of great coverage both on their live show and by coming to play the demo multiple times, bringing more of their friends and colleagues each time. I've personally been a big fan of them all my life so it was an especially proud/surreal moment for me, kind of like when Easy Allies came to play (twice) and interview Iga.
And while the demo was behind closed doors and we had good quality headphones set up to allow for the sfx and music to shine, it's also to be understood that you're only going to get a taste of the music that's in the game when you play what's essentially the first 60+ minutes of the game (not speed running and not exploring everything, just a middle of the road estimate).
So I'm really not worried about that one comment about expecting more catchy tracks, I'm really confident the music is going to kill it in this game.
As for the concern that IGN's assumption about what the stage of development is for the game therefore = delay imminent, well I would caution against leaping to conclusions like that. We've made no secret that development is still considered at the alpha stage, and with this Beta Backer Demo we're starting the transition to Beta.
Having said that, if pushing out the release date to announce it in 2019 became necessary, (wouldn't be a delay really since we haven't announced a date yet) we would absolutely do that. Let's be frank: the absolute, number one priority is making the game meet the highest quality bar possible while also making financial sense for ArtPlay and 505 Games. It's not pushing out the game and cashing in so we can move on. Bloodstained 2, 3 and 4 ain't gonna happen that way.
While it may suck to have to wait for a game longer than originally anticipated, literally NO ONE is going to care about the wait after release, they're going to care about whether or not we made a high quality, fun game. From the results of the Feedback Survey we recently published it was also obvious with something like 98% of people saying "release when ready, not asap".
And I'm a firm believer that literally 100% of the people who would complain about waits/delays would then be the exact same people who would eviscerate the game if it weren't up to snuff just to get out the door by a certain date. Hopefully that answers all concerns, but as always, I'm more than happy to field any questions or concerns any of you guys may have.
