Something I just thought about adding that might be important: the way Angel introduces the idea sounds probably to many like a flippant and off-hand remark about the idea... I think his intention was rather to be upfront and candid about it instead of the "of course lol" way it could be taken. See what I mean here: "Although the vast majority of the extra stuff we want to make is free, we also have to make some money to be able to do that lol. More moneyz = more tasty free DLC. " Casual language and smiley faces...that's just the direct, honest, friendly (intended) way he communicates...I think one main reason he talks like this is that he doesn't want to sound corporate and dump a bunch of disclaimer language on us, but remain honest and friendly about what they're doing while not talking down. I'm a huge fan of this communication style, although I don't always agree with him. As someone who's worked in law and administration, I grow tired of all the guarded language obscured behind impenetrable layers of corporate disclaimers. It's very refreshing to see a company simply adopt the "okay guys, here's the deal..." style.

I mostly agree with you, particularly the last two. Den of Behemoths is just awful, for all of the reasons you stated. It's clear that they were hard-pressed towards the end of this thing, probably for a number of reasons, but it hurts to see such an otherwise exceptional game come to such an unremarkable ending. There was a very focused identity and theme throughout, and then...there's just this awkward, random-ass Alice-In-Wonderland-like map without any of Carroll's bizarre charm. It could have absolutely played up the alchemy theme by creating a outlandish laboratory where experimentation yielded grotesque (sometimes giant?) abominations that were shard-infused forms of some of the regular enemies. Instead we got...really big bats. Not the kind of nuance I was looking for, to be sure, and a blemish on an otherwise thematically consistent game.

All of this aside, if Bloodstained DOES go the route of charging for extra cosmetics, the only way I'll even consider supporting it is if they implement some kind of vanity slots for Miriam. I'm not going to spend $10-$15 bucks for gear I'll never equip because it has inferior stats. This was asked about in the Bloodstained subreddit. Here is the response from Question, saying that this feature is unlikely. www.reddit.com/r/Bloodstained/comments/cdmqmu/bloodstained_future_cosmetic_dlc_survey/etx9eis/?context=3I also made my response underneath. I hope that they reconsider, because it literally makes no sense to sell DLC items at a premium, and then discourage us from using the items we get. Well if they're stuck on that stance, it's both unfortunate and illogical. Why would you introduce cosmetic items without a cosmetic slot? I'm not going to wear the sparkly pink outfit with fairy wings if it means I have to settle for level 10 stats when I'm at 60. This seems like a no-brainer, and I can't imagine how the coding would be that complicated. I mean that literally. I can't imagine it, because I have absolutely no experience at all programming games, but it doesn't SEEM like it should be hard at all. If X slot is equipped, disable the graphic for Y slot. Unless there's something I'm missing, I don't see why this would present such an issue. To be honest, I am a little disappointed that this isn't already a feature of the base game. I can't go back over hundreds of threads, but I'm nearly certain I saw a response somewhere during the development cycle where it was implied there would be the equivalent of cosmetic slots, in some form.

My two cents -- I'm generally okay with extra content at an extra price, but companies have to keep it classy. If I feel like they've intentionally provided a bare-bones game only to populate it later with piecemeal microtransactions, I have a huge problem. I'm looking at you, early Destiny. Bloodstained is more than a complete game and offers substantial content, so there's no sense we've been shortchanged in that respect.
Assuming a solid base game, then I've got three categories, as follow:
1) The dreaded "pay-to-win." I will never support this model. Ever. No way, no how. This means that players who fork over real cash are afforded a tangible benefit over those that don't. They get stronger items, more xp, or what have you. Yucky model that you can only compellingly argue for in a free-to-play game, and even then, I think it's crap. I'd rather pay up front than be nickel-and-dimed to death for even the most basic features (the ability to use community chat in an MMO?!). I made this mistake once, and it'll be the only time I ever do.
2) The extra paid content is something of an "expansion," offering a significant amount of new gameplay and/or features, which requires a lot of extra hours from the developers. If it's well done, I have ZERO problem paying for this. A good example is the Witcher 3 expansions or some of the Borderlands 2 expansions. Both featured quality hours of extra gameplay. I sure as hell don't expect developers to work for me for free. If they're putting in the work and I hope to enjoy it, then they should absolutely be fairly compensated. I know some people prefer they put this effort towards a sequel. That's a non-issue for me. If they've created a world I love, then I'm happy to spend more time there. When a sequel comes along, I'll check that out too. I don't bitch about Disneyland adding a new ride, stating they should focus on building a new park instead.
3) Cosmetics/vanity items. I have real mixed feelings here. As an old-school fighting fan, the sheer joy of playing the hell out of a game to unlock all the extras--costumes, music, special stages, etc.--was a thing of beauty. I remember feeling so accomplished when my friends came over one week after release and they could play all the additional characters/stages I'd unlocked. It was a heartfelt "thank you," from the developers to the fans, for supporting and enjoying their product. It kind of stings that all of these same incentives are now locked behind paywalls. Yes, I get that games are increasingly expensive to make, but they're also selling to a wider audience than ever before, so I don't automatically accept "Well, if you want a great game, microtransactions are a necessary cost of doing business." Let's say a game cost $10 million to develop back in the day but sold 1 million copies at $60. That would still put it substantially behind a game that costs $100 million to develop and sells 5 million copies at $60. I get there are other costs and that's overly-simplistic, but you get the idea. Anyhow, I think it's not the most offensive way to go to give the fans a little service at a reasonable price by introducing vanity items, but it's definitely not my preference. I will commend Bloodstained for already including a lot of customizable stuff in the base game so any future cosmetics are less of a necessity. Nothing like being forced to wear the visual equivalent of a raggedy potato-sack unless you spend five bucks, in which case you look like some kind of glowing, particle-effect popping demigod.
All of this aside, if Bloodstained DOES go the route of charging for extra cosmetics, the only way I'll even consider supporting it is if they implement some kind of vanity slots for Miriam. I'm not going to spend $10-$15 bucks for gear I'll never equip because it has inferior stats.

See, I don’t buy into that. It’s all part of making games more immersive. Granted, it’s not as bad as Miriam’s prior hair being a stiff helmet, but breasts typically bounce. There’s nothing inherently perverted about it. The same way the leaves flutter in the wind, the same way waves crash, breasts bounce. This!
Your avatar pic looks really good. Who is the artist?
So you never watched Miesha Tate's or Holly Holm's fights? Even with all the support, their breasts bounced all over the place (Miesha Tate's ones. Holy Hollm had her ass bounce the whole time while she was moving.
I'm not certain of the artist. Just a random pic I snatched off Google a while back. I love it, though. As an incredibly amateur artist, I only wish I could pull something like that off.

Ah! The classic “but my immersion!” line. Ok so in real life breasts without proper support do bounce. But I’ve been watching a lot of the Women’s World Cup (and have been a longtime MMA fan of both sexes) and I’ve yet to see any breasts bouncing there despite their constant running, jumping, punching and tripping in their respective sports. Also this is a fantasy game where our heroine can go through walls, summon a giant glass hand, and get magical eye, skin, dress, hair and haircut changes done by discount Edward Scissor Hands, so excuse me while I chuckle at you being okay with all that but then it’s the lack of bouncing mammaries that “takes you out of the game”. What’s a strange place to draw your line of what you do and don’t buy in this crazy-ass game. In the real world we live in unsupported boobs that bounce all around when doing intense physical activities are extremely painful for women, that’s why they invest in these magical things we call sports bras and why you never see jiggly funbags at the Olympic Games and whatnot. So let’s drop this “it’s not realistic” crap when it’s the other way around that’s not realistic. I just beat a giant gambler monster who tried to kill me with poker chips the size of a house but that’s not something that breaks your “immersion” right? If you want to see bouncing titties just say so, these excuses are just lame. Look maybe Miriam is wearing a state of the art 19th century sports bra made with alchemy/magic/shards, who cares! This game is freaking awesome. PS: Congrats to the American women‘s team that made the Word Cup final! Excited for Sunday. My, but you're trying hard to become incensed over a casual observation. Mine was a much simpler point--when a company has the resources to add a realistic touch, however trivial, I appreciate it. At no point did I imply that the lack of bouncing boobies destroyed my ability to enjoy this game. Quite the contrary, I find it a complete nonfactor. I'd enjoy it if it was there, but I don't miss it in the slightest. If we're picking issues, it DOES drive me nuts that Miriam's long-haired variant is the only one that doesn't feature proper physics, and the way it clips through her torso...ugh. Now THAT breaks my immersion. It really does. Guess what my solution is? I don't use it. I think you also managed to miss my larger point, which was only peripherally related to immersion, so I'll say it again. It's not inherently sexual to enjoy realistic physics in a game. It's just not. If you want to drum up an agenda there, that's on you.

With the costume she is wearing, it just looks weird that her breasts aren't moving You’ve played way too many DoA games. See, I don’t buy into that. It’s all part of making games more immersive. A more comprehensive solution here would be a second set of armor slots labeled "cosmetic", which would override the visuals of the default armor slots, but not the stats. And which could of course be specified as "default" (no change) or "nothing" (visually no armor). This is what I was hoping for, but I'm realistic and understand the limits on a smaller studio's resources. I can't imagine disabling the helm graphic could pose an exceptionally burdensome challenge.

I know there are far more pressing concerns at the moment, and glitches that affect playability and progression should be addressed first, but as a cosmetic guy, it really bothers me that we have no option to disable helmets in this game. Why put in all kinds of hair/eye customizations if it's going to be covered by some ugly bucket or mask? I can live with it, but the option to "hide" is pretty basic, and it'd go a long way.
More complex but also appreciated would be a "cosmetics" menu so you can select the look of a certain piece of gear (say, elf ears) while having something else functionally equipped for stats.

Add some physics to Miriam's long hair variant. Fix when loot gets stuck in the walls. Allow us to disable the graphics for masks/helmets (unless I'm an idiot and somehow missing this, which is likely)
That's all I've got. I only had about 1.5 hours to play so far. Darn adulthood.

So, if I really don’t want to use codes, the items are all things I can find during the course of regular play, correct?

Don't know anything about pc fps, but I just had a late game boss that was TERRIBLE with slow down on Ps4. It was like walking on the surface of the moon. They really need to fix that one. Is this a base PS4 or a Pro?

I'm playing the game of counting down the minutes at work until I can get off, go grocery shopping (yay?), and FINALLY make use of my sweet, sweet backer code to see this gorgeous game called Bloodstained.

Workaround number 2: I took my car key and wrote “Bloodstained” on it in permanent marker. Then I jammed it into my PS4. My PS4 is starting to smoke and sizzle a bit. I guess that means the game is downloading. Soon. SOON...🤪 I should work in tech support. I’m awesome at this. Now take a drill, and run it through your PS4. It has DLC (diamond-like carbon), so that'll get you ahead of the curve of July 3rd. I like where your head is at! Perhaps I’ll consider hiring you when I start up my tech firm.

Not necessary, I figured out a workaround. I deleted CotM, then used the only code I have to re-install it. There, now I feel like one of the cool kids too! 😭

So...still no codes for North America PS4, or is it specific to me, because if so, I’m pretty sure I’ve still got time to file a CLASS ACTION lawsuit against...or maybe I’ll just go to work. Yeah, I’m going to work.
Sigh. 😝

Shouldn't it be given to backers as well? I mean we did kinda pre-order the game, no? At least give it to $60 backers, we were promised exclusive content and got nothing exclusive (digital backers at least). Talking about this btw Isn’t it? Angel said it would be.

Everything is out except backer codes for North America PSN and GOG. Those should be coming shortly Out of kindness, I should’ve informed the other backers that I am on PS4, because without fail, whatever I choose will always be the wrong option. ALLLLWAAYYS.
