Recently, I played the demo for Dungeon Travelers 2, and it impressed me enough that I pre-ordered the full game, whereas before that I had no real desire to get it. Just yesterday, I finally got around to playing the Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire demo, and because I enjoyed it so much, I'm going to go pick up the game after work today. Likewise, I remember playing the demo for Fire Emblem: Awakening last year and being blown away. I probably would have bought that game eventually, but playing the demo made me realize that I needed that game in my life RIGHT NOW!
So, it got me wondering, have any of you bought a game because you played a demo of it? Conversely, has a demo ever been so bad that it convinced you NOT to buy a game?
Edit: This also applies to games in alpha, beta, early access, etc.

Yay, funded!!!
Makes me wish I had given more of a damn about the social achievements, but it's hard to do so when you're not even sure the game is going to get made.

I'd like to think that this doesn't affect me, but it does to the extent that we'll never see new entries in our beloved franchises (that aren't a F2P mobile game or pachinko machine), or at least not for a long while.
But as long as there are developers making the sorts of games that I want to play, I'll still buy them. Heck, even if consoles eventually disappear, there'll always be the PC.
God bless the PC.

Konami profits up by 159%, as mobile games gain tractionHot on the heels of fellow Japanese publisher, Square Enix, Konami--currently in the spotlight for all of the wrong reasons--has posted its financials for the quarter ended June 30, highlighting an increase in revenue and profit for the company as a whole, as well as the firm's game division. Overall, Konami's revenue rose by 5.3 percent, jumping from ¥48.6 billion ($390 million) to ¥51.2 billion ($411 million). More significantly, the publisher saw profit leap from ¥1.64 billion ($12 million) to ¥4.28 billion ($34 million) - a 159.9 percent increase. Digital Entertainment, Konami's dedicated games arm, also saw year-on-year revenue increase by 16.7 percent, rising from ¥20.4 million ($163,684) to ¥23.8 million ($190,965). Konami's foothold in the mobile market was a key factor in its success, with mobile titles such as Jikkyou Pawafuru Puroyakyu, which has surpassed 13 million downloads, PES Club Manager, Disney Tsum-Tsum, and Star Wars: Force Collection all enjoying "steady sales." Looking ahead, the publisher explained it's working hard towards the "inclusion of a sustained operation game mode that utilizes the operational expertise of mobile games", adding that console titles Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 and Metal Gear Solid V have also generated "great expectations." www.gamasutra.com/view/news/250656/Konami_profits_up_by_159_as_mobile_games_gain_traction.php

Was going to go with Cat 'o Nine Tails (because, I mean, c'mon, it has cat in the name, and I adore cats), but now I'll be going with Clan Dungeon, because even though I was never part of the forum (well, maybe I was, but never a huge part), I owe my knowledge of the Castlevania series today largely to Kurt and his website.

Looks like a fun physics-based platformer in the style of LocoRoco. If it looks like it's up your alley (and it's certainly up mine), feel free to pitch in a couple pounds for a copy!

Just pre-ordered Dungeon Travelers 2. First-person dungeon crawler, Vita, cute girls, etc., etc. You know the drill. Seriously, though, if it looks appealing to you, I highly recommend checking out the demo, it really impressed me and convinced me to pre-order, whereas otherwise I would have written this game off as "just another Vita dungeon crawler."

Yes, he looks cool. And apparently he has a thing for stickers. Stickers are cool. Edit: In before someone says, 'they're not stickers, they're ofuda, neeeeeeerrrrr...'. No, they're stickers. Because I said so. Now shut up.

Thanks for sharing, zoned87! Truth be told, I was considering copying the article that I linked to, but I guess as a librarian I'm very copyright-conscious, so I chickened out, lol! Well, that, and I don't want the mods to get in trouble (as unlikely as that is, seeing that most forums are full of copy-and-pasted articles).

And my friends that had installed Win 10 are all happy that there is no problem at all... Yeah... my friends are also picking me about changing the start menu back to Win 7 style... but hey I can't use a broken feature! Yup, Classic Shell + Windows 10 = no complaints (so far).

As for the survey, I don't have a launch date yet, but I think you're all going to like it. We're trying to build something that feels a little more like the original campaign than most survey/slacker backer systems, so that people who missed the Kickstarter can still feel like they're contributing to development, instead of just preordering a game. (I'll try to have an updated survey timeline in our next update. I also noticed some people asking for updated funding totals, so I'll check in about that, too.) Oooooo, exciting! Heheh, now I got something to look forward to! Thanks for the update!

Well, it's past midnight in Baker Island, so I guess they missed the boat. Well it seems they missed the goal they set but hopefully it will be coming soon. I'm not too worried either way, but an update is always nice. I figure the lack of an update means either a) they're -really- close to going live, and all their effort is concentrated on that, or b) they're a long way from being ready to go and they're kind of embarrassed to admit it, lol. It's OK if it's the latter, Fangamer, we still love you! Just continue to do what you did so well during the campaign, keep us up to date on the latest developments. (Not that I'm going to lose sleep over it or anything. Lord knows, I got enough to keep me busy...)

Personally, if the survey ends up being delayed, I hope they'll be true to their word and let us know in an update. Nothing worse than being left in the dark.

If you enjoy visual novels and want to see more of them released in the west, consider backing! They're so close! (As of writing, they've raised approximately $4,159 of their $4,800 goal.)
Also important to note that the Kickstarter will not only be kickstarting the localization of this game, but the localization company itself.

Yay, we're getting the full game!!! Now we can just ignore the Kickstarter! Seriously, though, they should just cancel the Kickstarter at this point and come back in a few months with a new Kickstarter with updated stretch goals. But Inafune being Inafune (read: greedy), they'll probably just keep this going until it fails. Speaking of Inafune, I guess in the end he was able to sucker someone else into picking up the tab for his latest experiment. Not surprised. He's a businessman, and he's good at what he does. Still, I'm looking forward to this game. I think it actually has a chance to be pretty decent, especially since Inafune, as executive producer, is barely involved in the game's development. I think that bodes well for the quality of the end product.
