All I know is that my physical backer ps4 copy did not arrive today, and that other backers that live in the south, united states for the most part got their copies yesterday at around 12 in the afternoon. Checking my tracking did not help since usps decided to go completely silent since 2:30 am today.
I am definitely pretty annoyed right now, =/

Tuesday can't come soon enough, just to get my copy from Gamestop and holding it in my hands. I'll start up the game that evening after I get home from one of my family members apartment. The patch should be installed by that time as I will open up the game right away and get it installed before I leave. If you pre-ordered from gamestop, you most likely can pick the game up at 9 pm eastern on monday. For awhile now, they have been allowing people to pick up physical pre-orders of games during this time period, even if its not a hyped AAA release. (Just call to make absolutely sure, but most likely they have no problem if you arrive at 9 and pick up your next day pre-orders).
The last three games I did this for was my trails of cold steel ps4, daganronpa trilogy, and that dragon marked for death game on the switch pre-orders.

I was also browsing gamefaqs and doing something or another when I first seen the topic talking about IGA is trying to get another one of his type of games going. I stopped every single thing I was doing, made a kickstarter account, and backed on day 1, just went straight to the 100 dollar tier for the ps4 version from the get-go. I eventually upgraded to the 150 dollar tier, and got a physical vita add-on (that has been swapped out for the switch version once that got cancelled) just so show more support.
I enjoyed the gba and ds games, but symphony of the night was like, my favorite of them all. I think what made me the most excited for bloodstained was the fact that it was being created on a console/PC first and foremost. After all these years, we finally getting another console IGAvania instead of a handheld game. Again, I liked the portable entries for what they were, but I have been waiting so many years to get another console experience...and this time, I got a nice fancy 4K 55 inch tv (with a ps4 pro to go with the tv), a nice sound system (and a nice headphone set-up for when I am not trying to wake everyone up at like 3 am), and a comfy recliner to improve the console experience this time around. Yeah, I really cannot wait for this,

i7 6700k 4.00 ghz, 16 gb ram, and a older radeon R9 380 series 2GB card. It runs at 60 fps and 1920x1080 consistently.
I had crashing issues the past week for some games that use unreal engine 4, but that ain't bloodstained's fault. (Its a problem I been working on, probably has something to do with the drivers or something, I dunno. I didn't have any issues back with the 2016 demo).

I don't care for'em too much myself (considering I had to struggle to get a NES classic, which was a very annoying experience), but at the same time they ain't doing anything illegal. I can already see it now actually...you better believe that some people are going to make bank with their physical vita collector editions of bloodstained.

Ah, ok, thats what it was. Yeah, I also voted for background 3/character 3 back then, because the lighting that picture used definitely made it look like that even the background was cel-shaded, which was the main reason I picked it. Like I said, I think the game doesn't look bad at all when I actually play it myself, but I can't lie...there is definitely still that part of me that wish that they decided to cel-shade everything instead of just the characters. Its the best way to get that 2D sprite look without the game actually having to use sprites and whatnot. You know what though? I am still glad this game is happening in general, so I will take what I can get regardless, lol.

Having read that article; my thoughts.
The slowness simply comes from transitioning from 2d sprites to 2.5d models. I compared the movements of Rondo of Blood to Dracula X Chronicles and they are exactly the same - they just "feel" clunky due to the difference in perception. The same is looking to be the same with Bloodstained. Miriam is moving the same as Alucard in SotN, but it seems clunkier because of the perception of space and therefore looks less "fluid".
I was one of the ones who wanted cell-shading from the beginning, knowing how DXC looked with softer shading. Unfortunately my preference didn't win out, so it's been a matter of just hoping there's as much detail put into the aesthetics and environments as possible to WOW me otherwise. I'm still not impressed with the design for things like Vepar (concept is awesome; execution is lacking) and there feels like there still need to be a lot of detail and texture added to environments to make them less flat-looking. I wouldn't say things look ugly, but I will agree that in my opinion, it's missing a lot of the depth of even the DSvanias. I pray that changes before final release.
Criticizing about there not being combos in a Castlevania-in-all-but-Name game is just dumb. The only 'Vanias that had combos were PS2 titles in 3D. It's rather asinine.
I could have swore when they had that poll thing about the shading, the full cel-shading option one out over all the others (the one where both the characters and the backgrounds were cel-shaded). I also voted for the full cel-shading option, so I am kind of confused why they decided to not put cel-shading on the environment also. I mean the 2.5D graphics doesn't look bad at all in my opinion when I actually play the game compared to looking at pictures (that is how I felt when I played the old E3 demo. I remember thinking that the movement is still that good ol' igavania game movement that we are so used to over the years, and that the graphics in general weren't bad at all when I am actually playing the game on my own PC/monitor compared to just looking at pictures and youtube videos), but I still hope that they decide to go ahead with that full cel-shading before the game releases or something.

Also reminds me how I never received that print Destructoid magazine they did for Bloodstained with GameFan. Anybody else remember that? lol That's $12 gone forever I eventually got mine in the mail. It was like, a month'ish late, but I eventually did get it. It was in terrible condition too....the magazine was bent at one point, ton on of creases in various pages, and the back cover had a giant crease and had a pretty sizable tear on the bottom of it. Then for a further kick in the funbags, the article itself wasn't all that great.
It definitely was a waste of 12 dollars, 12 dollars that I could have put towards an italian subsandwich or something.

I got the 150 dollar version, mainly for the hardcover art book and old-school strategy guide. At some point or another, I put in extra to get a physical vita release, but I am thinking about switching that vita physical to a switch physical since I just got one not too long ago.

Wouldn't mind if this game has some good old fashioned wall-chicken hidden in various breakable walls. Wall, block, and barrel meat is always good, no matter the video game.

I'm personally hoping for a super hard "fight against yourself" type of super boss myself. Like, a doppelgänger, shadow link, shadow self, reflection etc. etc. type of thing. These type of fights has always been the most fun to me....what better way to prove you got skills than to fight against yourself with all the best souls, magic spells, equipment and so on, lol. Hopefully without exploitable A.I.

Censorship nowadays is mostly done by nintendo for their 1st/2nd party games. If anything, you would have to worry about the japanese versions being censored for things like nudity and violence since nudity isn't really that big a deal no more (at least when it comes to M rated games) in the west and violence/gore was never that much a problem post nintendo domination with the NES/SNES eras. The japanese got more strict over the years when it comes to certain things actually. *Off the top of my head, their versions of god of war was always censored, along with games like GTA5, the last of us, the order 1886, witcher 3, and the dragon age series for example*.
Even japanese made games is sometimes censored for their own country yet can be released uncensored in north america or the rest of the world. Resident evil/biohazard has always been one of these type of series...before they started making the violence even across all versions, the older releases used to always have those extra gory deaths/animations and whatnot in the NA releases while theirs would have things like say, censored decapitations and whatnot.

In general I don't care...I mean hell I usually see myself or others naked on a regular basis, so why should I let fictional nuts or breastseses bother me? At the same time, this is most likely going to be a T-rated game, so nudity would serve no purpose for this type of game.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if there is some sort of garden or demonic greenhouse area of the castle. I'm thinking of various big-ass fancy pants castles in both fiction and real-life, and these types of places usually has some sort of pool house, a smaller house area/shed, or whatever the hell on the castle grounds....there could be sections where you need to walk outside the castle and go to said shed or pool house for whatever reason. Yeah, this game takes place in ye olden days and you might can wonder "wait...they had pool houses back then on their castle grounds?", but in my opinion they can totally throw stuff like that in (either that, or rich people back in the day totally had pool houses but they just never told anyone cuz' they are rich) because stuff/reasons, lol. -

My first gaming console was a NES is 86', so I was definitely around the gaming scene awahile myself, but I don't know.......I see dlc the same exact way I see video games period, there will be crappy ones, there will be great ones, its as simple as that.
Crap dlc is things where you automatically can just tell the devs was just being grimey.....capcom their-selves is a pretty good example for crap dlc practices from like, 2008ish till' like, 2015. (I feel they have started to ease up on their dlc shenanigans lately, what with all the extreme negative criticism they got for the past few years that damn near tarnished their reputation). The vast majority of capcom's stuff for the past generation was disc-locked content. Content that was perfectly playable mind you, since hackers managed to go through the data for most of their games and actually enabled the locked content to play with it. (street fighter x tekken's characters come to mind). Also crap from other devs like horse armor, lol. Overpriced costumes in jrpgs (as much as a love the tales of series, it is guilty for having overpriced costumes per character. Graces F prices were especially awful)., etc.
Great dlc is things like borderlands dlc....each time gearbox added something to a borderlands game, it tended to be an extremely long experience with added rare weapons to find, level caps raised etc. etc. (borderland 1's zombie island may not seem like much these days, but back when borderlands 1 first released in 2009 and during a time when companies was still getting the hang of the dlc thing on consoles, it was amazing/a trendsetter for how to do dlc right). Left 4 dead extra levels were nice for their price. (for the 360 anyway. This stuff was free on the PC. Was microsoft's fault for the dlc charge since valve was willing to give it away for free for 360 users). The already mentioned mario kart 8 and super smash bros 3DS/Wii U dlc. Witcher 3's dlc (they made it perfectly clear that nothing they worked on was started until the game released. Also, the game is by far a complete experience on it's own, etc.).
I feel as if crap dlc and great dlc should not be lumped together, and should be treated just like crap video game and great (or decent/above average, lol) video game releases.

The games just being way too easy for my tastes. I come from a older generation/more masochist generation of gamers where I actually love getting constant game overs. Castlevania 1 and castlevania 3 kicking my ass is the main reasons I got into this series actually.
Now I am not asking for anything ridiculous, like some sort of fan-made japanese bullet hell game or something like that, but I don't know......just something that will make me think about my actions a tad bit more instead of me being able to bum-rush the game. I think castlevania circle of the moon and order of ecclasia went in the right direction when it comes to the difficulty.

Man, how can I forget to mention guilty gear xrd? That game is on a whole nother' level of impressive compared to the realistic art style games we got on the playstation 4 now. Maybe in the next 4 years, like the last of us on the playstation 3 in comparison to older cel-shaded games like valkyria chronicles, when devs that work on the ps4 gets more used to the tech. can they put out something just as visually impressive as guilty gear, but for now, xrd is definitely the best looking ps4 game hands down.

From what was in the update newsletter, it sounded as though the dev team is about evenly split in their opinions about these shaders. If the community's opinions hold any weight, then it seems that Character 3 is the popular choice, but perhaps we'll see a final shader that's somewhere between nos. 1 and 3 instead, or something akin to the hybridized examples posted above. Personally, I dig no. 3; it follows what I had suggested in the first survey. For those who adamantly prefer something else, one solution could be to allow players to pick between shaders in-game. Take Super Smash Bros., for example. On the Wii U, characters are rendered in a style like shader 1. On the 3DS, the characters have thicker outlines, similar to shader 3, to improve their visibility on the smaller screen, but it's possible to adjust the outline effect if you don't like it. Considering there will be a Vita release, perhaps this option could be available. Even if not, surely the dev team is considering how to keep the game's look consistent across platforms. This is what I was just saying in the Shoutbox. Smash on 3DS had to have a different visual style because the 3DS couldn't handle the HD look of the Wii U version. The illustrated look of character 3 would send the message that Bloodstained isn't next-gen and isn't making good use of the resources available. This would in turn hurt the sales of the game. Hopefully, the team will blend the shaders enough that the illustrated look will appear stunning and unique. Funny enough, I feel that games that does cel-shading extremely well looks way more impressive compared to the more realistic art styles other video games tend to go with during their respective generations, and that these cel-shaded games not only tend to age extremely well, but they look pretty damn impressive to the point where they can make a console appear stronger than what it actually was. Off the top of my head, if you show someone that has no experience with the playstation 1 a gameplay video of fear effect 1 or 2 and then compare said videos to like, a metal gear solid 1 gameplay video (a game which was highly praised at it's time of release for it's graphics, yet in my humble opinion definitely did not age gracefully compared to games that had an impressive art style that stands out, which tends to be cel-shaded games), I guarantee you that not only will they say that fear effect 1 or 2 looks better, but that they aged pretty well for playstation 1 games, which in turn makes the playstation 1 look more impressive. Other games that look pretty impressive and aged well compared to games going for a more realistic style during their time in my humble opinion is games like castlevania symphony of the night (of course, lol), dark cloud 2, rogue galaxy, jet set radio, tales of the abyss (I bet a lot of gamers nowadays would agree that this game aged better than the ps2 release of final fantasy 10, due to it's easy on the eyes art style), valkyria chronicles (which still looks extremely good for a playstation 3 game that came out as early as it did, in comparison to the good looking "later in the ps3's life" games like the last of us), wario land shake it (making the wii look mad nice for putting out a 2D sprite based game as good looking as this, compared to it's normal realistic 3D game offerings), veiwtiful joe, okami, odin sphere (so good that they are putting out a HD re-release for the ps4....and the game STILL looks impressive), etc. etc.
