Badass cover of a great track!
I'll just leave this one here 'cause it's one of my personal faves and deserves more attention:

I agree. I'm the first to defend the game from absurd statements like "We've already had three delays, it will release in 2024", and I never considered the shift from 2017 to 2018 a real delay because it was announced very quickly and because of the placeholder thing, but the will to make the game come out this year has been vehemently stated multiple times both in formal and informal contexts, so if the game were to come out next year it would be a delay without a shadow lf a doubt. This wouldn't even be a problem, I'm willing to wait all the time it takes, but it would certainly be a delay and not treating it as such using technicalities like "Yeah, but we said HOPE" would be a very unwise move IMO and it would make quite a bit of people rightfully pissed, because then it's not about the delay itself anymore but about the transparency of communication, and that has always been the pride of this project and this community. So I encourage the team to take their time and proceed how they see fit. If that mindset is accompanied by clear, honest communication, then it's all right. Keep up the good work everyone This sums up exactly how I feel about this. I don't even have that much of a problem with it personally but I think that pointing at such technicalities will only make them look like they're trying to weasel out of their responsibilities. This would be bad for the community, bad for the reputation of the Bloodstained-brand and bad for the future of the franchise. I'm trying to put this out as a word of warning because I want this franchise to thrive!
Angel-Corlux I think that you've mostly done GREAT work so far and I really appreciate what you're doing for the franchise and the community. Please keep it that way and be careful with stuff like this as it really only looks like attempts at blame-shifting. Thank you and keep it up

lovelydumpling I remember reading multiple comments by official Bloodstained-Channels or -Pages that pretty clearly promised a 2018 release date (which I assume were written by Angel). To be fair, the times he said that it was usually as a reply to some comments on facebook and youtube, not a big open announcement. That's why I'm a bit too lazy to dig up the individual sources on my claim haha

Angel-Corlux Man, I'm going to be fully supportive if you decide to delay it to 2019 to meet quality standards but please don't try to frame it as "not actually a delay" because that's absolutely what it would be. There were multiple comments by you promising a 2018 release so while that's not a very specific release date, it does come from an official source and the frame for these promises is 2018 making a 2019 release date a delay, nothing less nothing more. I'll understand that you guys need more time since this game is going to be massive with a ton of features and game modes. I'll gladly accept a delay if it means that the game will be better. But still - it would be a delay, it would be recognized as such by fans and it would be wise not to try to sugarcoat it. Really though, take all the time you need! That being said - I'm glad you guys had a great time at E3!

Don't touch the fonts! Please?! I love the fonts they are using in the game so far. Especially the font they use in the UI. No touchy! The fonts in the menu are fine, the dialogue-font should change IMO.

I think it's because IGA just never worked with high-res character models in his Castlevanias (outside of the 3D ones which also didn't use portraits for dialogue) before. I haven't looked at the animations yet as I'm waiting for the Beta to take a look at everything so I can't comment on whether I like the change myself.

I agree, they should change the typeface to something more suitable for this kind of game.

I'm hoping that any bosses that get ported over actually get logical extensions to their movesets (i.e. Andrealphus being able to do both the tornado and lightning strike moves from either direction instead of only from the left and the right respectively). There's a lot of minor things to CotM that stood out as odd omissions/oversights to me. The example you mentioned makes perfect sense to me. It's a telegraph and makes sure you can learn to defeat the boss. Also, the wind direction enables you to jump over the lightning strike. From the other direction you wouldn't be able to evade the attack like that. The tornado pushes you along with the wind so you don't have a weird back-and-forth motion. The only way I could see the bi-directional thing work would be if Andrealphus had a move with which it could change the direction of the wind (which would be kind of cool and extra challenging).

Most of the bosses are actually dukes of hell from the lesser key of Solomon. It'd make perfect sense if they were included. I also think that they should consider balancing the Bloodless fight (especially the bloody rain attack) more like in CotM because the rain seems way too weak in the demo they have shown. I hope to see a boss with similar platforming mechanics as Valefor's. The coin stacks are a whole lot of fun (even though the boss is a tad easy).

I agree with your views regarding the nsfw-outfit-stuff. Not only does it not make any sense within the game's world and Miriam's character - it would actually make it far less likely that I'd recommend this game to friends and family, seeing that I wouldn't want to be seen as the guy recommending that game with the unnecessary nsfw-fanservice in it. I'd always have to explain myself when recommending this game so I probably just wouldn't bother.

You guys who think that nothing should be cut from a game should be glad that you (apparently) don't know much about the process of making a game. There's so much stuff that doesn't make the final cut in almost every single game for one reason or another. Either way I don't care too much for total exclusivity myself. If others can have fun with the stuff that I enjoy too, that's even better in my book

Thank you, Angel, for sharing the results. I agree with the fanbase on most stuff so that's good to know!
The breakable-walls-shard-effekt looks pretty cool! I think there should be more of an effect when you actually break the wall though. Right now it just kind of pops away into nothingness.
Beta-Demo news sound quite exciting!

ZeroSbr I find your sentiment regarding this insta-kill rather interesting. Are you also upset about the lava that appears later on? How about bottomless pits? I'm not judging you, just curious.

Busterific Now that we're talking about the second run - I've got a little update on this specifically: I'm currently playing nightmare mode and just noticed that in nightmare mode the moon phases continue until it's a new moon right at the end. How cool is that??

roguedragon05The shape is quite similar, I never noticed though. Really cool! I wonder if that's intentional - especially since parts of that silhouette date back to that one painting Natsume did for the Kickstarter.

*** Some spoilers about levels and bosses in here ***
So I don't know if it was obvious to all of you but I just noticed an awesome little detail that is added throughout Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon - The moon in the background changes its phase with every level until in the end it's a full moon!
In the boat level you can see the moon along with the castle at the end right after beating the boss. I could not find an image of this online. And finally: Pretty cool, huh?

Not trying to beat the jumping thing to death but I have a really interesting unofficial fan made book that breaks down the design of the NES Castlevania games on a game design level and they talk about how the jump design was incorporated into the game and level design and all. It is crazy sometimes seeing those no hit runs of classicvania, if it makes you feel better IGA himself doesn't like those bottomless pits either was why he didn't incorporate them into his games least he said as much in an interview on the Castle Chronicles game. Oh, yeah I know about that and I largely agree with him on the matter (though I don't think that bottomless pits can't ever be a valid level design option and to me it's more about the unresponsive feeling of a jump without air control).
And you're not the only one who had trouble with her in certain platforming sections which were just not built with the higher jumps in mind. As a "generalist-approach" I prefer her jumps though, haha
