Add me in? My Steam Name is Hyrist. I'm still catching up as an old mage build who's world busted, and I don't get to play that often. But I'll visit with a new character! Hope to see you tonight after work.

So long as the puzzles do not destroy the flow of the game I'm fine with them. If they're too cumbersome, perhaps a simpler puzzle could be used in its place.
Lords of Shadow 2 suffered from puzzles that tended to take away from the game, rather than add richness to them - I'd rather they avoid that pitfall if possible.

Thing is, I don't have a problem with either gender's sexualization. The difference here is the audience and people's assumptions that they are one. Sexualization of males and the unhealthiness of it isn't any new or less drastic as it is in females. It's simply done through different mediums. Unfortunately the spotlight gets put on depictions of females in popular male-dominant markets when women are actually having a real trouble in real situations like employment, wages, positions in goverment and jobs. These are issues where TRUE exploitation of gender are being made, not in idealistic or fan-service-level depictions in fiction. I feel as if the effort here is very much misplaced. Here's some counterpoints for you: Example 1Example 2Example 3Should I be offended at the above? I think not. Fanservice is fanservice. It applies both ways depending on where your perceived target audience is at. It's a skewed perspective to put comics and other such depicted mediums under the scope with intention to censor, rather than intention to simply ask for equal share. There's also a misnomer when it comes to the idea of 'equal representation' - pay attention to whats' going on in most of the artwork designed to sexualize and romanticize men verses the parody work depiction listed earlier of Hawkeye. It's not whats 'in the junk' that being paid attention to, though it's eluded to. It's usually the exposed chest, the muscles seen open and flexing. That's a depiction of a man as per the preferences of the attraction there. If we want equal representation then it isn't covering up or completely changing how women are depicted in these situations that should be done, but increase on how male figures are depicted in manners that depict them as subjects of attraction. Appeal to both, not cover up one, but don't parody. Make it look good.

Well, I'm having problems with the concept.
See with so many modes we have, secrets can come like candy. Our "Roguelike" mode could have secret sections of it, which means the number of rooms will be unlimited. The main section will likely have secret sections and sections cut off due to conditions, that's kind of the thing of Metroidvanias, let alone Igavanias.
And then there's always the chance that the Classic Mode might have secret areas and rooms.
So... limiting it to a percentage. I don't know. I'm back to 'no preference'. I do feel that some portion should be specific to exploration and that this effects the 'ending' in some manner - as I feel that's intrinsic to the genre at this point. But beyond that? I've really no exact preference.

The only games truely active for me right now is Final Fantasy XIV, which just came out with its Heavensward expansion, and Terraria which just game out with 1.3 on my cool-down times from FFXIV.
I'm anticipating getting and playing the daylights out of Mighty No. 9 when it comes out.
Otherwise, I've been pretty cut down as far as available time wise.

*gonk*
Where is the "No Preference" button!?
Honestly. I'm leaving my mind open to impressions when it comes to this castle. I would prefer it be organically designed, fitting with the theme of what they envisioned and less about what's 'expected'. I expect a fun experience with something that relights my childhood joy for the game. That's about it. I don't want to limit their creativity on this.

I think we're going to get a 'not Alucard' reference with the voice actor from the origonal english version, so would I like them? I know that's a moot point, between the voice actor, the Swordwhip, and the Wine Glass throw skill. There will be homages to the series whether or not I like them.
And it's a good thing that I REALLY would like them.

Water will be an interesting dynamic to dig into, but I don't feel as if it will be an important one to really go full depth on.
To be honest I'd be fine if water was back to the auto-death-pits they were in the classic games ... and I am leaning towards the idea that they SHOULD do so for Classic Mode.
The typical game mode? If they do it well? Absolutely. Though I did like STON's underwater sections. So... perhaps a compromise? Swimming and air management up until relics are obtained that allow for the bypass of that mechanic and the ability to explore underwater, similar to how it was done in OoE.

I'm likely going to go with PS4... for all the power the machine has I use it primarily for Indy and neo-retro titles. Which, for me, is fine. I'm more than happy to use a new device to play games with a classical feel.
May get additional versions of the game later on though. Will make that decision once I've calmed down on the hype a bit.

Allo everyone. My name is John, aka Hyrist. I've been a big fan of Castlevania my whole life starting with the first. Igavania to me represent the perfection of the Metroid-vania craft and I'm hoping this to be his Magnum Opus. See you on the boards!
