There are only 2 communities in which i am active, i am active in this community and in the doom community so i am just going to be lazy and make the same thread as i did here.
My other favorite series are: Doom Duke Nukem Blood Power Slave (Exhumned for us europeans) Shadow Warrior Quake Serious Sam Painkiller Medievil Legacy of Kain Megaman Megaman X Megaman Zero Megaman ZX King of fighters Fatal Fury No more heroes Silent hill Resident evil Shovel knight Tekken AND MANY OTHERS...
I hate listing games I like cuz there are too many to remember and I do n't wanna snub them. but maybe it'll be easier if it's a series. I'll exclude ones that have only one game in it, or ones that have only one game that I like. Also, I do enjoy doom, but I wont include it along with many other serieis I may like because I don't like them to the point where I really research and salivate over new installments. Basically I'll only include series where if it's getting a new installment (or used to up to a point), I'm going to be pretty certain I'll enjoy it in advance (I still don't pre-order in general though).
Gran Tourismo Forza Motorsport Test Drive Unlimited
Call of duty (used to, stopped caring after they started making expensive dlc with only 5 maps and stuff). Unreal tournament (though 3 sucked),
Gradius Touhou (the shmups, not the fighters) Mushihimesama
Master of Orion Civilization Age of Wonders Heroes of might and magic (haven't seen one I liked after 4 though, yes I do like 4 as well) Xcom
Castlevania (duh), even the 3d ones on the ps2...actually, kinda especially them, I really really liked em. too bad lords of shadow stunk. Ninja Gaiden Onimusha Dark Souls/demon's souls Ys
Legend of Heroes/Kiseki/trails in the ___/wtf you wanna call everything after 7 Final Fantasy 1-6 Xenosaga Neptunia (It's my guilty pleasure) Mana series until legend of mana Fallout (not 3 and 4 though) Exile (the one from spiderweb software.. the Avernum remake is disapointing, they dumb stuff down, the old series was sweet though)
Escape Velocity Wing Commander
I'm sure I'm missing some still but not enough to make me cry.
EDIT: ALSO ghaleon Interesting that you don't Like Fallout 3 & 4; some would argue that those are what brought Fallout to the fame it is now. (ergo Bethesda) Very Interesting. Never played the first two myself, but I've seen bits and pieces of them.

Fallout 3/4 -definitely- made the series popular, but also very different. Isometric menu-based RPGs versus "Elder Scrolls, but in a zany nuclear wasteland!" haha. I liked Fallout 3, it's the only game of the series I've played, but I can appreciate what the earlier games are since I'm a fan of Baldur's Gate.
It's actually a similar situation to what happened with Persona. 1/2 are the OGs and a good bit different, whereas 3 and 4 really brought the series out to the masses.
Anyway, here's my favorite series list besides Castlevania
Valkyrie Profile Final Fantasy (mostly pre-VII) Souls/Bloodborne Guilty Gear Metal Gear
Mega Man X
There are a lot of series I like past these, but those are the biggest ones, i.e. multiple favorite games.
Fallout was already pretty popular, not that popular really motivates me, I mean just look at ogre battle, people go 'oh you mean tactics ogre?' no.. ogre battle.
It's just that fallout 3 made it much MORE popular. But yeah, it really isn't Fallout as a game imo. To me they are more like a fallout total conversion mod for Skyrim (yes I'm aware fallout 3 came first but my point is it's like a completely different game series that just got a paintjob for fallout).
Even the 3dness or first person thing didn't break the deal for me. What really stung was before fallout 3 was released, they were pandering to the old fans with the VATS system claiming that you COULD play it turn-based like fallout used to be, as well as a first person shooter. But upon release, I quickly saw how bogus that was. VATS lets you take like a few shots per battle. there is no 'end turn' thing on it where the enemies take shots at you afterwards, and then you get your turn again, etc. It's more like a 'bullet-time'-esque superpower that you can use at select moments th an an actual secondary gametype.
Plus turning into a first person shooter completely eliminated the mechanics that they pretend to keep like perception being useful for your firearm aim/precision, as well as the ability to notice hidden objects, which are now completely dependant on the player. Agility which affects how many actions you can take per turn...except there are no more turns in the game.
I'm aware it's a successful game that pleases a lot of people, I wont say it's a terrible game. But it's kind of a slap in the face as a fallout fan. I mean call of duty is successful, but just imagine the next castlevania being call of duty with some castlevania artwork, music, and UI. It would be interesting to see, but will it scratch that castlevania itch? obviously not.
Would "Many Others" simply suffice? I'm not really active in very many "communities" other than this one, but I have [way too] many favorite series.
Too many to really count off the top of my head, so (like another certain thread) I'll just list a few of them in no particular order.
Other than Bloodstained (which hasn't quite become a "series" yet) and Castlevania, I'm also a fan of...
Metroid The Legend of Zelda Fire Emblem (started with 7/"Blazing Sword" for GBA) Kirby of the Stars (Japanese title of the series) Star Fox Super Smash Bros. (I still own the original N64 game; in addition to all others) Bomberman (64 most of all) Mega Man (X/Zero/ZX series; I do enjoy a few of the Classic games) Shantae Final Fantasy (played VIII/8 a lot in my childhood; I really enjoy most of the other games) Dragon Age The Elder Scrolls (beginning with Morrowind back in 2002) Gravity Rush Deception ("Kagero" in Japan; I own the 2nd game and both versions of the 4th game) NieR (& Drakengard) Skies of Arcadia (not really a series, but I enjoyed its GC remaster) Xenosaga (sadly, I've only played the 3rd game) Soul series (beginning with GC version of Soul Calibur II) Super Robot Wars (unfortunately, I'm not fluent in Japanese) Mobile Suit Gundam (Extreme VS. Full Boost) Lufia Phoenix Wright Tales of (still only Xillia & Xillia 2, so far. Willing to try Zestiria & Berseria at some point.) Wild ARMS Project X Zone Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Really wishing KotOR 3 happened...)
I still play games from all of the above series to this day, when I have the free-time, and more...

MY GOD I FORGOT MONSTER HUNTER!!!!
And i respect all of you who played Lufia:The legend returns on GBC (my favorite Lufia game) and really the Lufia 2 remake was a great example of how to turn a very cool series into "generic fantasy jrpg that lifts some shit from Kindom Hearts".
The Nerd would say: "THIS GAME IS ANAL SAUCE!!!" (can i say this here or will i be banned?)
Right now, my favorite game series' are: Castlevania - (favorites are SOTN, Lament of Innocence, and SCV4) Souls (Demon's, Dark, Bloodborne, Nioh, etc) - (favorites are Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne, Nioh) Monster Hunter - (favorite is MH3U on Wii U) God of War - (favorite is God of War 3) Darksiders - (favorite is DS1, but DS2 is almost as good) Zelda - (favorite is Twilight Princess, although I'm not done with BotW yet) Metroid - (favorite is Super Metroid, Prime Trilogy is a close second) Gauntlet - (favorite is Gauntlet Dark Legacy)
I enjoy other stuff too, but those are my favorites right now. If I'm playing something, it is most likely in the list above.
Last Edit: Apr 23, 2017 23:23:17 GMT -6 by Redogan: added favorites in each series
Game Radar: Super Mario Odyssey Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Monster Hunter Double Cross (Western release?) Monster Hunter World Metroid Prime 4 Darksiders 3 ---- Gaming since 1982

There is not a single game series that I love anymore, but I have loved and enjoyed many mentioned in these posts. Silent Hill would stick out if it wasn't dead. I wish for more there. These days I'm looking forward to something new like Cyberpunk 2077 and of course, the renewal of an Igavania game rather than another Gears of War, Elder Scrolls, Uncharted or Zelda, etc.
Legend of Zelda Resident Evil (only the old ones) Sonic the Hedgehog Earthworm Jim Tekken Assassin's Creed (only the classic series) Fallout (ALL OF THEM) Fire Emblem Super Mario Metroid Star Fox Mega Man X (until 5) Ninja Gaiden Bayonetta Mortal Kombat
Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky/Trails of Cold Steel Persona Series Devil Survivor Shin Megami Tensei Pokemon Legend of Zelda Super Smash Bros Soul Calibur God Eater Monster Hunter (that last one was easy) Spyro Fire Emblem
Golden Axe Streets of Rage Witcher Monkey Island Broken Sword Diablo Command and Conquer The Suffering Warriors Orochi (Musou Orochi) Vampire the Masquerade F.E.A.R. GTA Mortal Kombat Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm (4 was horrible and i intentionally missed it, though)
ghaleon: I have been permanently sick of mascot platformers after the SNES so no
Jun 27, 2017 22:45:35 GMT -6
ghaleon: it's so strong platformers in general are a hard sell for me, I mean I haven't even tried shovel knight yet, I'm considering maybe some day but... the trauma is real. no more platformers. NO MORE!!! NOOOOO!!! *gasps*
Jun 27, 2017 22:46:17 GMT -6
ghaleon: I def have time for castlevania games though, BS counting as one
Jun 27, 2017 22:46:37 GMT -6
ghaleon: I'd totally play a Zelda 2 uhh. 2? 2-2? 2-two? whatever as well
Jun 27, 2017 22:47:36 GMT -6
purifyweirdsoul: What happened exactly, Ghaleon? Sounds like a traumatic experience. Granted I'm pretty much the same way.
Jun 27, 2017 23:53:22 GMT -6
kylestien: He played Bubsy.
Jun 27, 2017 23:56:50 GMT -6
ghaleon: Blah, I'm tired of hearing people bash bubsy when I know 95% of them (if not more) never touched it... kinda like ET
Jun 28, 2017 1:06:48 GMT -6
ghaleon: Bubsy on the SNES was actually not bad as far as mascot platformers go, its bad rep is purely from the 3rd version, which was post snes at which point I was already bored of them
Jun 28, 2017 1:07:13 GMT -6
ghaleon: That said nothing in particular happened, it's just there were so many between the 8 and 16 bit generations that I just had enough at that point. Bear in mind most people didn't have hundreds of games back then like they do now
Jun 28, 2017 1:08:36 GMT -6
ghaleon: most people only had a dozen or so, and wheneve ryou'd visit someone's place to play some games with them, it was often limited to some effing mascot platformers.
Jun 28, 2017 1:09:01 GMT -6
purifyweirdsoul: lol I feel you there. You should definitely play Shovel Knight, though. It doesn't feel or play like a mascot platformer, to me. More Mega Man with bits of Castlevania, Dark Souls...it does have a Mario 3 map, though.
Jun 28, 2017 7:57:39 GMT -6
Brainiac: Only for Shovel and Plague Knights, purifyweirdsoul. Specter Knight's campaign is pretty much a classic Mega-Man-style stage select system along with a hub location to explore.
Jun 28, 2017 8:15:20 GMT -6
Hylian: Speaking of Shovel Knight and Dark Souls, did anyone else here back Blasphemous on kickstarter?
