what do you think about having custom tiers for bloodstained? for example i pick the $100 tier and i want the map(ONLY THE MAP) and all i need is to pay a little extra just for the map or whatever item you want(music, artbook, etc.)

The Kickstarter rewards are not a merch store. You may upgrade your tier, but not pick and choose only the things you want. If that was the case, there would be no incentive to pledge more to get the next tier. Plus, Fangamer spent a lot of time making that backer survey. I seriously doubt they could dedicate the resources to changing it again. If you only want one certain item, perhaps you can buy it off eBay after the game is out.

Yes, unfortunately, offering reward tiers al a carte would essentially devalue the reward tiers pledged by backers.
For example, say you saw the Amano poster added to the rewards during the campaign and scraped together your funds to bump up your pledge significantly just for that. If you found out you could have ordered that separately afterwards, you might feel a little cheated, right? It'd be great for the late-comer, but unfair for the early adopters, even if I think the vast majority of us are kicking in funds just for the love of what's being done.
Fangamer could possibly sell the non-limited items at a later date, who knows, but as Mike said, watching eBay afterward might be a good call. There are always people looking to profit a little off of things like this or just recoup some of their money for whatever reason.

It would take too much time to take care of each backer anyway.

I don't see it happening for a lot of the stuff. The soundtrack is the best chance. The art book? Maybe. The map? I can easily see something like that being specially produced so basically having the kickstarter numbers will let them know how many they have to make. Really, if you want the map you're probably going to have to upgrade to the 500 tier.
There's only one fundraiser I can kinda remember that let you pick add on a to add to your choice. And that was only for beta access, the soundtrack, a shirt or the art book. None of the bigger stuff was available.

I doubt it. The main selling point of pledging high is getting both physical and in-game exclusive items and access. I for one like the idea of being one of only a few thousand people who own the art book,or the collectors box, and I'd be very agitated if they went back on the plan and sold them mass-market. If people want the merch, they need to pledge for it.

Fangamer has a merchandise page for a few things. Maybe we'll see Bloodstained stuff on there after its release.

I can't see everything from the Bloodstained campaign for sale there, but there'll probably be some shirts and other merchandise.

If they wanted to make, like, a new and different shirt/poster/ect. post launch I'd find that reasonable. But if I see someone wearing the backer-shirt or go to someone's home and see the backer-poster on their wall, it should be an instant sign that "hey, that person backed the project years ago". Same with the Whip-Sword in-game. That item should never be made available to non-backers. If you're doing online co-op and the other player is using the Whip-Sword it should bring the "hey, that player was a backer".

If you're doing online co-op and the other player is using the Whip-Sword it should bring the "hey, that player was a backer". I completely disagree with the sword-whip. I don't like the idea of withholding in-game content to exclusive groups/players like that. Limiting physical goods? Sure. Those are expensive. Limiting digital goods that have no physical shape, can easily be sold/distributed, and possibly change the outcome of game balance since they're a unique weapon... that's not something I want to see. It's a sucky feeling knowing that there's an in-game item available that you can never access because you weren't aware about it at the right time. I backed the lowest possible tier ($60) to get the sword-whip and boss, and I'd have no problem with them being available for non-backers that are willing to fork out $5 or so. Everyone at the $60 tier will still get additional goods anyway.

Can't agree on the Whip-Sword. Physical exclusives, sure. But in-game exclusive content bothers me, especially when it's tied into any sort of pre-order deal(and for the purposes of in-game content, I'll include crowd-funding in that definition). Make it DLC, part of a more expensive collector's edition or whatever, but no one should be locked out of part of the game because they didn't show up to the party at the right time.

I kinda agree with you two on that regard but there's a potential issue that might upset backers.
How much should the DLC cost? And for that matter how much is the game going to cost. If we count the regular 28 dollar tier as a discount there's some numbers to play with.
If the game is going to be 60 at retail then if the DLC was just 5 to 10 bucks the backers that went in on the 60 dollar tier have nothing to complain about.
Once the potential price of the game starts going down either that dlc is going to have to be more expensive or you kinda rightfully will have people getting upset that their 'exclusive' 60 dollar game only has an exclusive slipcase compared to people waiting 2 years to buy it at retail.

I will grant that the best way to do this likely would have been to never include in-game content for backers-only to begin with, but it has, and how its handled from here has a few things to be considered: -People are already upset about it: "A boss and weapon should not be exclusive content, it should be in the base game for everyone" is the argument of course, and its a perfectly valid one to use.
So lets say its made into DLC: $5 for the boss and weapon to be added to the game, which we'll put at a reasonable $40 retail. Maybe less, maybe more, who knows. -non-backers will still be angry that they have to pay for something that "should be in the base game" -Now at least a few Backers will be angry that something that had until-then been just for them, is being sold to everyone. "I paid good money to get my special joke boss and weapon, it should stay that way"
Giving it out as DLC could actually make the situation worse, unless its just flat out free, which would then go back to "why isnt it in the base game if you dont even have to pay for it" Plus, I think we'd all feel cheated if the content we went in for was just handed out for nothing: We'd have essentially spent extra just for the slipcover. Which I know I and probably others would feel is worth the extra cash, that goes back into physical goods, but I think we can all agree some Backers would not be pleased.

Well, that's my point. It's already done and even if you do feel that way trying to change things can just be a logistical mess.
But as a bit of a question: even with somebody being upset about having to put in money to get KS exclusive dlc is it really something that should be appeased? I mean I'm sorry they missed the kickstarter somehow although slacker backing is still open for now. But without the people that kickstarted the game wouldn't exist for people 2 years down the line. That's the counter argument I can see for it.

I don't see that as being as big an issue as there being content that people who bought the game can't get at all. Non-base content for collector's editions has been a thing since at least Baldur's Gate 2, and extra DLC content is pretty much standard now(e.g. there was no big uproar about the Mass Effect weapon pack DLC). Most of the fuss these days gets made about stuff like the Goro being pre-order only for Mortal Kombat X and other such exclusive pre-order bonuses. That's the sort of situation that is just crap for anyone who misses out, and for good reason. It's not the sort of controversy I'd want Bloodstained caught up in.

But as a bit of a question: even with somebody being upset about having to put in money to get KS exclusive dlc is it really something that should be appeased? Yes. Because exclusive in-game content that you can only get through pre-order is always a bad thing. I backed the game because I have confidence in IGA's ability to make a great Metroidvania game. But you shouldn't be forced to pay for a product sight unseen to get the full product. Ever.

I feel like this quote from IGA is pretty relevant. Its from the interview he did with Jim Sterling, who asked IGA about this very issue. Perhaps we could archive it in the "Important IGA quotes" thread XombieMike made for future reference too: "I never could have started this project without the support of all its backers. Backers that supported this project via the digital tiers play an equally important role because all of this money is being used to build upon the fundamental, most accessible contents of the entire game – to make the game that everyone gets bigger and better. I just wanted some way to give back to those who really jumped in and took a great risk on my behalf. I’ve been without work and put my own personal life on the line for a chance to make a new Igavania-style game, so I’m touched by those who had that much faith in me. This is my way of saying “Thank you.” At the same time, now that all backers are personally allowing us to expand the game into such greater territory, everyone who buys the game after it comes out also owes a great deal of gratitude to everyone who backed the project on Kickstarter at this crucial time. That being said, the exclusive content will likely appeal to the most dedicated enthusiasts, but it probably wouldn’t seem as significant for the average player." Here is a link to the interview as well www.thejimquisition.com/2015/05/bloodstained-ritual-of-the-night-interview-koji-igarashi/
