But as a bit of a question: even with somebody being upset about having to put in money to get KS exclusive dlc is it really something that should be appeased? Yes. Because exclusive in-game content that you can only get through pre-order is always a bad thing. I backed the game because I have confidence in IGA's ability to make a great Metroidvania game. But you shouldn't be forced to pay for a product sight unseen to get the full product. Ever. There's only one game that i know of that preorder dlc wasnt available to buy after it came out and that was with Red Dead Redemption. Pretty much every other game let you buy them afterwards Also considering what BloodyTears posted it's less about being for a pre-order and more it being IGA's sincere thank you and present to the people who let him make this game. It's kind of a sticky wicket to just describe this as being just pre-order dlc.

Just wanted to give a quick little responce to some people here about items such as the swordwhip and hidden boss Those are on the actual physical game, their an incentive to have invested in the project and as such when the game releases the backer editions will be more valuable then the standard store edition (Even moreso since the backer editions can get the special art slip covers and such)
For people who are saying that non-backers who will pick the game up later will be displeased, they have no reason to be angry this was one of the most well known kickstarters and they could have joined, its called a risk/reward system for a reason
Now something I would call bullshit is what Comcept did with deep silver,in which the backers ended up with the short end of the stick in the case of the Mighty No.9 kickstarter, where people who did not donate to the game could just go to any retailer store and pick up the physical copy which included a poster and artbook and the ray dlc for a mere 30 dollars, for people who donated to the game via kickstarter in order to get a artbook and a poster you had to spend over $150 and you were not given the chance to get the game as a physical version for your gaming system
So in that retrospect do i feel sorry for people who are going to wait later who did not contribute to this campaign missing out on some backer exclusives? No i'm not, thats the reason you turn right around and sell your backer edition on ebay for more then what you paid for because you earned the right backing the project

i never considered the backer stuff dlc, it wasnt some carrot in a box outfit or weapon skin to get you to buy a game before the embargo lifted, it was always iga giving thanks to the people who came to aid him when he needed our help
there are a lot of companies right now abusing preorders and dlc (and microtransactions >.<) for a quick buck by playing on gamers want to not miss out on something, but there are many dev teams out there who do it the right way, to give fans of their stuff more so their enjoyment of the game continues on

There's no way to dance around that regardless of the motivation behind it. For people who are saying that non-backers who will pick the game up later will be displeased, they have no reason to be angry this was one of the most well known kickstarters and they could have joined, its called a risk/reward system for a reason I disagree with you. There's no other way to put it than what I've already said. No one should be put in the position of being forced to put up money for a product they aren't 100% sure of in order to get the all of that content's content.

Sir...this is a kickstarter not a gamestop preorder,You have no idea what you are going to get until the game is finished since it's in construction And unlike dlc practices this reward is physical it's on disc it's for those who were considerate enough to help get this game off it's feet.It makes the actual value of the backer editions better and mean something then the later standard editions sold in stores,it's rewarding us

Well, I understand how you feel that way buy I don't see kickstarting as *just* a preorder. I think we're gonna just have to agree to disagree on this point.

Focusing on the wrong thing. The problem isn't the pre-order or lack thereof, but the availability of content to people who buy the game post-release. I honestly don't care what your take on crowdfunding vs pre-orders for the purposes of this particular topic because it's irrelevant. If there is content in the game, and that content is unavailable to everyone - not just at a cost, but at all - then I believe that to have been a bad move, regardless of how I feel about the game or its creator otherwise.

I'm not focusing on the wrong thing. Up above in your response to me you relabeled it preorder dlc so that's how I described it. Like I said I can see your meaning but I can also see what IGA is going for. Maybe he'll change his mind and decide everybody gets it.

But as a consumer and as a backer of the project, I'll remain critical of it.

Not going to lie, that exclusive backer content got me to pledge for two copies of the game instead of just one. It was smart from a cynical, business perspective. Sorry *Part of the Problem*

I won't bother commenting on how fair or moral backer exclusive content is, but instead just point out that in order to gain access to that content in this scenario people pledged a minimum of $60.
Unless a retail copy and KS content dlc go for over $60, you're gonna have a lot of pissed off backers.

I'm against custom tiers for backers or regulars having what backers have in the long run. Also I even want the art on the physical disc to be different than retail.
