I'm actually wanting to see a "Star Wars" world in Kingdom Hearts III. ...Probably too much to hope for. They really should add more guest-characters from other FF games than VII, though. If not a few more, than only one...how about Ultimecia as a Super-Boss? (She'd probably be significantly watered-down in power, though...still enough to easily destroy Sora, maybe, if the player isn't careful)

I tried playing through the first Kingdom Hearts and didn't really care for it.
The controls felt outdated and weird to me, the character designs rubbed me the wrong way, and I honestly didn't like how the original characters had so much focus on them when all I wanted was to see Disney and Final Fantasy characters interact together. I like Disney. I used to like Final Fantasy. Seeing both of them together felt like I was about to eat peanut butter and chocolate, but then someone threw a bunch of belts and zippers on it and made it really hard to digest while they wouldn't shut up about the heartless as I was just trying to eat in peace.
However, I am willing to give the series another chance if there's worlds based on The Great Mouse Detective, The Emperor's New Groove, Duckberg, or Gravity Falls in KH3. My love for them is greater than my apathy and indifference towards most of the stuff in Kingdom Hearts.

The first one had its issues, but it was a nice game with a childish, but charming, story. The second one on the GBA had a great battle system, but not much else. All the other entries are simplistic button-mashers featuring convoluted and melodramatic stories that will make your head hurt from how excessively dumb they are.

If you can stomach horrid gameplay and story for a few characters and possibly a featured world, I say go for it.

Kingdom Hearts is a great series, especially for those who wanted something that wasn't another turn-based RPG. That's what drew me into Kingdom Hearts. Before KH2 came out, there was so much hype and theories surrounding it. Those cryptic secret trailers you got when you completed 100% of everything were so detailed and graphically impressive, something which Square Enix was famous for back then. This was before PS3 was a thing.
One of my favorite RPGs of all time would have to be KH2. The level of depth combat had as you leveled up felt so good. You felt like you were actually getting stronger, rather than feeling like you're just dealing more damage because you had a higher stat in strength or whatever. I guess the people who dislike it are the latecomers who've had their fill of PS3, and PS4 games. I'm looking forward to KH3, but not as much as I was for KH2.

Sure, your combos got extended, you got fancy finishers to them and magic kept improving but the combat itself has absolutely no depth. The entire game had a single hard boss and only because dispatching that banjo-wielding clown's minions had a poorly designed catch to it (you had to use finishers). For reference I'm speaking as someone who beat the secret boss in the FM+ version of two, on Proud Mode, while low-leveled.

I honestly have mixed feelings about the past KH games. The most fun I really got out of the first KH was the "Mysterious Man" (Hooded Xemnas) fight in the Final Mix version, the "Lingering Sentiment" fight in KHII FM+, and I did like playing Birth by Sleep all the way through... ^ Some of the other boss-fights in all of the games were pretty fun, though. The story is good, but I was initially a bit disappointed at how different the FF guest-characters were from their original games. I'll have to agree with Arcueid Brunestud on the impressive quality & level of detail, though. I'm going to give KHIII a chance, if only because of the great likelihood for a Star Wars-themed world. I would very much like to see other themed worlds that Goobsausage mentioned! ... ...I'd still like to see Ultimecia as an optional Boss!

For reference I'm speaking as someone who beat the secret boss in the FM+ version of two, on Proud Mode, while low-leveled. The game's bosses aren't that hard. I say this as someone who played KH2:FM on Proud Mode, and cleared all XIII bosses in the Cavern of Remembrance, and Terra many times. I honestly had more trouble getting to that area than the bosses themselves. The area before the Cavern of Remembrance where it summoned countless Nobodies was a true pain. The combat definitely had depth in comparison to other RPGs of that time. You could do combos on the ground, then do a finisher. FM+ had several ground finishers. Or you could bring the fight into the air with a special uppercut which can also turn into a more powerful version if it's the last strike of your combo. Then continue with comboing in the air which had several ways of attacking, then end with a finisher that also had several versions. You had a multitude of magic to add to fighting. Fighting flowed so well, and felt so good. You weren't limited by a card system, which I honestly didn't like that much from CoM, and BBS but oh well. You had several ways of maneuvering which felt really good. You could glide, dash, do some weird spinning move in the air, and dodge roll. You had Drive forms which further enhanced your combat skills. Anti Form, and Final Form's combos are great to look at. Then there are the bosses which are just awesome. There's Sephiroth who's fun to fight, I wish you had the option to fight him again. Then there's the Final Boss fight with Xemnas which imo is one of the best fights in RPG games. Seriously, you feel like a badass slicing through skyscrapers like nothing. That one scene where Xemnas fires an endless barrage of lasers at you, and you have to deflect every single one with Riku is killer. And then Terra... Just thinking about it makes me want to play it again. And the eargasmic music. This was Square Enix at their prime.

The area before the Cavern of Remembrance where it summoned countless Nobodies was a true pain. That area was outright cheap (not hard) unless you abuse finishers and the quick time commands, in which case it isn't much of a problem. None of the bosses were even remotely hard and the secret boss was hilariously easy if you bothered countering (not that it was hard to glide away from it). Sure, the game had a lot of bells and whistles, but they really didn't amount to much and there was no actual challenge present. Not a big fan of Shimomura's work outside of a few tracks, the most notable being Dearly Beloved and the Hollow Bastion theme.

Do you know another good RPG from the PS2 era that's like KH2? If you want action RPGs then Dark Cloud, Rouge Galaxy and Tale of- come to mind. If you want the button-mashing through mobs (that's present in KH2), there is Dynasty Warriors.

Though I did enjoy Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2.

They don't, but I was conflicted when reading you previous post as you asked for a "another good RPG that's like KH2" and I don't consider KH2 good, so I opted to name a few that have better gameplay and were still action oriented. Dynasty Warriors was added as something similar to gameplay with KH2, regardless of it being a RPG or not.

Not counting FFXV since that game is being influenced by KH's style of gameplay.

Since I feel that KH2's gameplay is unique, and would like to know if there's another action RPG like it for me to enjoy. But eh, nevermind. We're going off topic. I'll save it for a new thread.
