The guys and gals at Lab Zero Games (the people behind Skullgirls) are behind a new game called Indivisible - an action RPG influenced by the likes of Super Metroid and Valkyrie Profile. Field movement and exploration are very much in the vein of Super Metroid and combat is in the vein of Valkyrie Profile. The campaign can be found here on Indiegogo. The game has been funded and will be released on PS4, Xbox One, Windows, Mac and Linux platforms. The initial goal was $1.5 million (with 505 Games, the semi-publisher, putting in $2 million if and only if this gets funded) for a total budget of $3.5 million. Any money beyond that will of course go into making the game even better though major additions like extra dungeons, extra endings, etc. and the such will likely launch as post-release content (see Shovel Knight). Stretch Goals can be seen at the bottom of this post. A playable prototype has been made for Steam, Windows, Mac and Linux or can be found on PS4(US) or PS4 (EU). It can also be found on the Indiegogo page (on your Humble Bundle page if you were a Skullgirls backer). If your computer can run Skullgirls with the 3D backgrounds on (which should apply to the majority of modern computers) you are good to go in regards to computer requirements. If you have any difficulties, especially on Windows 8 and Windows 10, try installing the Direct X 9 Runtimes drivers. You are free to stream the prototype and upload videos to Youtube, etc. as you wish. This way, you can get a good sense of what the game will look like. If you can't play the prototype, you can watch the Two Best Friends playthrough below: Or the Game Grumps Playthrough: Or the Jim Sterling Playthrough: A good video going into more detail about the battle system can be found here: The main character of the game is Ajna: Incarnations (party members) revealed during the campaign. This is not a complete list of all Incarnations that will be in the final game, not all pictured below will be playable and their final designs in game may be slightly different: A number of playable guest characters from a variety of other indie games have also been announced (will be free DLC after launch): As is the norm, the game has a Twitter & Tumblr account as well as a DevBlog. In addition to more information and a means to ask the developers questions, these resources also have some extra art, animations and fanart. I'll update this post over the course of the campaign. Hopefully, after playing or looking over the prototype and reading more about it, this will seem up your alley STRETCH GOALS:$1,650,000 - More Music by Hiroki Kikuta (REACHED!)Indivisible is currently budgeted to have between 60 and 90 minutes of music from Kikuta-san, and we’d like to expand that by at least another hour! $1,900,000 - Animated opening by Titmouse and Studio TRIGGER (REACHED!)We’ll partner with Titmouse and Studio TRIGGER to create a high-octane opening animation! The animation will be storyboarded in Los Angeles by the animation studio, Titmouse, and the final animation will be directed by legendary animator Yoh Yoshinari, director of TRIGGER's excellent Little Witch Academia series. About TitmouseTitmouse Animation was founded in 2000 by husband/wife power couple Shannon and Chris Prynoski, producing absurdist, dynamic 2-D animation that hungry college kids with twisted sense of humor just can’t get enough of. It has since evolved into a full service production company developing content for even the wee ones, and employing over 200 gifted artists in LA, NYC, and Vancouver. $2,050,000 - Full VO for all major characters (REACHED!)Indivisible is currently budgeted to only have voices in battle and some critical story scenes. With the money raised for this stretch goal, we’ll expand the voice acting to cover all interactions with major characters. $2,300,000 - Multiple endings & hardcore bonus dungeonAfter the game is released, we’ll update it with multiple endings and a hardcore post-game bonus dungeon, with new monsters and more!

The game looks great so far. Looking forward to playing the prototype early since I backed Skullgirls.

I was really hoping to make this thread myself when the Indiegogo campaign actually starts next month. Oh well. I'm very interested in this and so is my friend who's mostly ambivalent to crowdfunders.

Really? Well, this is interesting...I'm not able to check out these links much since I'm at work, but wow. As someone could tell from my username, I'm a huge Valkyrie Profile fan and I like Metroid, too. I'm also big into fighting games, so I know all about Mike Z and Lab Zero...
I'll be keeping an eye on all this for sure, and most likely donating myself. Hoping the game's not as ecchi (ridiculous boobs, panty shots, etc) as Skullgirls and from the looks of it, the game probably won't be. lol @ at the Parasoul, Cerebella and Filia palettes for the main character there.

Introducing TUNGAR!That sword also acts as a turban. We've got quite the motley crew already. I wonder if we'll be able to switch between party members during the platforming stuff. I can see some applications of Tungar's sword for it.

Seems they're trying pretty hard to be "not anime" lol, or just all unusual/out of the ordinary tropes. Not all too surprising. These are neat ideas, but unfortunately I'd probably like something a touch more generic anime badass or generic anime cute probably better lol. The main character and the archer guy look and sound kind of cool/interesting as characters I would want to play, but only a bit.
It will be interesting to see the other designs, and if they follow the pattern of being weird/unusual designs not usually seen in RPGs.

Above is a video showing off the battle system (WIP). A description of the battle system can be found at the devblog here. A magic system powered by a super meter (as well as actual supers and such) has been confirmed for the final game as well. EDIT: Goddammit again Goobsausage LOL

I was going to make a pun about what just happened to Croc and the title of this game, but I think I'm better than that. Instead I wanna say, my breathing became heavy breathing with that gameplay. I can't wait to try the demo later this month.

This ghost seems Icecream. Bowl of rice, the antennae are the chopsticks. I detest the SK artstyle and I don't like how hard they're trying to make each character original (in terms of distancing them from popular designs).
If you give all your characters weird/unorthodox weapons, it lessens the impact of each individual character design.
By making everyone odd, they're making odd normal and thus boring.

The white variation really makes it more like rice. I think that it is the point. They are showing a different world where everyone is odd to us. The world seems to be like that, so finding someone "normal" will be the real "odd" in this game.
Ajna seems to be the most normal character and maybe this is why she is the main. They've already revealed something about this game backstory?

I don't understand this critique. Am I missing something? One character has a bow (Mongolian style), one has an axe, one uses standard fire themed magic using a lantern and one uses a urumi (a real if impractical weapon) that is no more weird than Ivy's (Soul Calibur) or Jakotsu's (Inuyasha) whip swords. How is that an unusually weird group of weapons? As for the characters they've gone on record as saying that though this game will pull from a variety of mythologies, the focus with be on South East Asia. Did you want more Arthurian Knights or Moeblob Schoolgirl #1325353 as your protagonists (I'm not trying to put words in your mouth but I'm not sure how else to interpret your statements)? They are going for a variety of body shapes and sizes and trying to feature underrepresented cultures in this game. I mean I've straight up learned some new stuff looking into this game - did you know that the Hungry Ghost is based on this or that those monsters in the battle video with the long hair are based on this? How is this anything but commendable?
