It might be risky to post this, as I don't want to spark some kind of religious debate or something. I just want to talk about things I like about games that Igarashi has been involved with in the past. That's my disclaimer I guess, we'll see how it goes. It's not really a "feature" per se, so if the mods want to move it elsewhere, I can understand that.
Anyway, one thing that I really like from previous Igavania games that I worry might be absent or not as prominent in this new series of games would be blessed weapons and items. They were necessitated before by being just standard, classic vampire hunting implements, becoming amazing fantastical/Japanese interpretations thereof, but now we have demons and curses. Crosses, holy water, Bibles, etc might be a bit out of place? I think they could fit, if presented well, but there's no talk of vampires or even subweapons for them to seem as natural as they were in Castlevania.
I myself own a good bit of vampire hunting accessories, using them to dress up as one for Halloween one year recently. The idea of using holy weapons to take out monsters is just awesome to me. The Belmonts' strongest weapons classically were the more Christianity-leaning ones, as it happens, which aided in my enthusiasm for them.
This game, as with other recent Castlevania games, seems to trend more toward taking down foes that use occult powers with your own occult powers, as a reformed "bad guy" yourself, antihero, rebellious son/incarnation of the evil you're fighting, etc. That's all cool, but I'm hoping maybe that one of the characters is just a hunter commissioned by/from the church or something that may use relic weapons similar to what I've been talking about, or maybe holy magic similar to the Belnades.
Failing that, just giving Miriam some of these things would be great, too. Even as a minimum if we're just talking about some Holy Sword/Rod type weapons. It's hard to even do much Castlevania throwback without including some of these things, I think, but I just want to have it said so it's known that such things are at least appreciated by a few fans.

I'm not too familiar with how the Demons work with the source material they're from, but we at least have a Demon Hunter who uses presumably uses his culture's version of "Holy Weapons". The time period is great to have holy water or crosses, and we know it will focus on alchemy so maybe our weapons could be imbued with "Holy" energy, although it could easily be renamed as being "Light" energy or something. Maybe the glass curse itself could have the properties of Holy energy, and is essential for tapping into magic in general? Or maybe even a plot-twist: crosses and holy water actually end up empowering the very demons those weapons were meant to destroy. Also not sure if this should be moved into the weapon ideas thread or not. XombieMike ?

Certain elements are very important in alchemy and may constitute holy equipment. Mercury in particular was thought to be a liquid form of silver and so would be REALLY potent against demons.

It might be risky to post this, as I don't want to spark some kind of religious debate or something. Iga's previous works included the Longinus Spear, as in the spear that Jesus Christ was pierced with when he was crucified. If anyone here easily takes offense by the presence of religious references, they should probably stay clear of this series.

Actually I think that the holy water, the cross and the bible fits even more in this game, but it will be great to see brand new alchemy related subwepons.

Actually I think that the holy water, the cross and the bible fits even more in this game... Really, what makes you think so? It is actually pretty neat how SotN incorporates other cultures' demon/evil-slaying items into the game. I had no idea for the longest time what the bibuti/vibuti subweapon was supposed to be in that game, them actually being blessed ashes of the dead from Hindu. I was just now curious about the Agunea, figuring it had to have some kind of similar origin, and found this: That's pretty awesome lol. I'm mainly a fan of and think the Western/England/Christian stuff would be most appropriate, but other inspired weapons like this are really neat as well.

If most of the enemies are demons from hell, it makes sense for holy water, crosses, and bibles to help defeat them

I like when I can choose different types of the same weapon: holy and cursed.

I don't mind them, in fact I strongly feel that they add to the overall atmosphere of the environment.

I don't find any "blessed" / "holy" things offensive in any way. I don't mind if they're in the game or if they're not but they add depth. It's so culturally usual that demonic characters (monsters, "people", etc.) are depicted to be slayed with things or weapons which are infused with some holy power or materials. It would be neat if they do their research properly and maybe could find some more rarely known/used ways of exorcism from historically different cultures.. to be used in this game. I don't want to over-analyze this kind of things because I think Igarashi has his own visions for this world the game itself occurs.

I think with the Castlevania tradition and the fact that you are fighting evil you're going to need good. The holy waters pretty cool I rarely ever used it I really like the boomerang crosses and how you can earn your way up the using 3 at a time.

I couldn't agree more, those holy/sacred weapons are always my favorites. It's just glorious to dress up in a paladin set and crush evil with my light sword/mace/spear

Among the various holy weapons in Castlevania, the only thing that ever made me raise an eyebrow, as a Christian (not to start a cyber religion war, but I'm one of 'em), was the Bible being used as a weapon.
Outside of that, I never saw a reason to be bothered by anything in the franchise in that regard. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing holy weapons in Bloodstained, and I'm sure they'll be in one way or another. Even if they're only used by Zangetsu.

I need holy water in this game, my dear holy water flasks were always with me in CV games so I will feel naked without it (I even used Une's soul in DoS as a substitue) since it saved me a lot of times. In DoS I've even discovered how to beat Dmitrii with one shot because I've always used this kind of weapon. It consisted of making him copy Une's soul and then go to the another corner and charge Skeleton Archer's soul until max (quickscope headshot ) Also this: (Holy Water and Fist appearing at the same video is a mere coincidence) Edit: While searching for Longinus, I found something that may interest everyone here about "another" historic person called "Longinus": en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_D%C5%82ugosz

Igavanias must have a STRONG religious reference in many points. I'd love to see a superpower in which a crucified Jesus Christ raises his head with sparkling eyes and, a second later, all demon-type enemies scream in agony. If anyone here easily takes offense by the presence of religious references, they should probably stay clear of this series. ^ This.

I'm all for holy weapons too, but I think it should be somewhat character specific. Like Miriam can use some holy weapons and items, but not all. Then we can have one of the other two playable characters completely specialize in holy weapons and items and "spells" if you can call them that.
Would Holy be an element in alchemy?

I suppose holy water itself could be an alchemic component. Someone mentioned the boomerang crosses...yeah, I'd love to see those back as well, or at least in some kind of similar form.

I think that the concept of 'holy' and 'evil' isn't something that needs to be, culturally speaking, restricted to westernized Christian ideals, especially considering that there are many different mythologies which elaborate upon the dichotomy of good and evil. Also, consider that because vampirism isn't the emphasis of this story, westernized Victorian religious themes prevalent in Victorian literature don't seem necessary. In fact, I wonder if being spiritually vague might be a great way diversify the demographic. Many aspects of alchemy and spells relates more to "paganism" than actual Christian perspectives, yeah?
