Well, yes, I felt that was the obvious direction the game would be going in, hence my topic lol.
I have no doubt the game will be vague religion/spirituality-wise, but I'd still like to see the aforementioned hunting tools/relics. It could even be left up to the player to decide if their strength comes from an actual deity or they're magical, something like a Souls game's vague open-endedness. Ideally I'd prefer implementation just like Castlevania, but yeah, this game has different themes going for it.

Ultimately I believe Holy Weapons will be a feature in Bloodstained. However the form in which they appear may be different than what we have seen in the past. Without a doubt the Holy attribute and it's ability to repel and defeat vampires lies at the core of their mythology. Vampires have long symbolized dark desire--sin which is defeated by the purity of religious practices--and therefore their iconography was used to represent this. However now that Bloodstained has outlined that demons are the main foe to be confronted we may see a slight shift away from such black-and-white representation.
Demons represent all the great evils in the world as perceived by men. They are most often creatures of Darkness...and thus are defeated by Light. Crystals refract light and stained glass is most radiant when light is shining through it so the label for the Holy element may simply change to Light. Also in other media where there is not a huge focus on the religious aspect of demons and the like weapons which repel and defeat them I have seen weapons referred to as "warded"against demons and their bizarre and otherworldly physiology. This certainly implies religious connection but does not specify anything further. Whatever direction IGA and the design team chose to go with this particular topic will be the right choice in my opinion. They cannot build the game to suit everyone but must do their best to appeal to the majority.

What better way to honor the "Tactical Soul System"?

As others have noted, holy weapons are almost a necessity in an Igavania. I'd just like to see some fresh ones and have them be a great benefit to traversing certain areas of the castle.
I want to stay on topic, but as a quick segue, an added dynamic to holy sub-weapons that would be really cool would be the ability for them to potentially enhance the weapon you have equipped at a cost per use. Imagine the holy water soaked into a whip. Extra killing power at a cost per use. The cross could be used in conjunction with magic. Bless the cross with a freeze spell or fire spell for adding elemental damage, etc .
Charged/special attacks with holy sub-weapons as there have been in past Igavanias would be a much welcomed addition. In Richter mode for instance in SotN, you can press Triangle on the PlayStation and a much more powerful version of the sub-weapon is unleashed, costing a large sum of hearts, but absolutely worth it, as it works wonders on bosses - sort of a bonus for conserving hearts for boss battles.
As for main weapons, holy weapons have as much of a place as well. Remember that traditionally, holy weapons are most effective against dark/evil creatures and may actually be ineffective or less useful against some neutral/evil creatures that don't have a particular weakness to holy.
With that said, yes - holy sub-weapons and main weapons would have a place and would likely be useful to have in the game, but wouldn't be your best choice in every single battle.

The Lesser Keys of Solomon which the enemies in this game is based on views Demons and Angels practically as interchangeable both would be compelled by holy artifacts I believe.

The previous Igavania made extensive use of the holy weapons because it was vampire-related, whose source clearly talks about these things being effective against them and against the demons, but i am not sure it will be the case for Bloodstained universe. If you ask me i would like something more original, maybe "holy" itens based on alchemy instead of some random religious stuff, i mean why we should copy religious itens from a certain religion instead of a more creative and logic way to deal with the demons?
And if they indeed use religious stuff i would like something from and ancient old religion, ancient egypt comes to my mind. Anyway, i expect the game to be more original instead of use the same things as the previous ones.

The use of holy implements are nearly universal for any kind of monster in religious folklore, you'll see almost every tool used against vampires referenced in an exorcism or a monster slaying scenario. And because castles and medieval aesthetic of this region are closely tied to the religions popular in those places and times, it's not unusual to see similar methods used by hunters or crusaders of some sort.
What I wouldn't expect is for Miriam to use them. Being of some nature that is cursed, in relation to the creation of a demon castle and demonic powers, I'd expect such articles to be harmful to her.
It would actually be interesting to have religious warriors interfere in her journey as they come to rid the castle of evil, than heep her alongside all the other monsters and attack her too.
Beyond that, it would be interesting if they played up the Angelic past of demons and represent major demons as displaced angels rather than monstrous in appearance. Having various holy and dark artifacts which help fight a variety of dark and holy foes, and having a nature which is torn between both helps diversify the kinds of opponents and allies she may encounter.

In most (if not all) Igavania games he has a slew of elements including holy and darkness the elements are:
holy darkness fire ice thunder earth water
ummm... am I missing any?
I would like to see different or new types of elements in Bloodstained. Does anybody know the elements of alchemy? (If there are any)

Wind would be another, as much as I hate the "4 elements", references like those are closely tied to alchemy. They can do a combo of wind and electricity as well as water and ice if necessary.

Oh yeah forgot about wind, lol that's funny cause I've had gas all day (jk) butt really (sorry couldn't help it)... I was hoping for something like this: or this something a bit different front the over played nature elements.

The thing I don't like about ancient magic and alchemy is that they tend to have really simplistic and contrived views of the material world. If in fact, they unlocked the secrets of the universe and actually understood what was going on, than they'd reflect more scientific truths, and this applies more so to Alchemy. Obviously classic scientists didn't have the benefit of modern research, but it would be interesting if they reflected more advanced science with alchemy and magic.
It's always bothered me that Fire occupies one of the 4 elements, when the other 3 are more obvious states of matter, while freeze and shock are kinda just discounted, and it would be nice to see a nod toward mass and gravity too, but that's just nit picking.

Yeah but as you said they could only interpret things with their knowledge... It would be awesome if someone would seriously study alchemy with scientific eyes right now... you know try to understand the science behind the mysticism. I wonder if they would find anything new...

I think once the mysticism is removed, it ceases to be alchemy and becomes plain science. The science of alchemy involves scientifically utilizing a lot of supernatural phenomenon, in a supernatural world it makes sense. But observing from a modern perspective, you'd expect them to have a more accurate perception of science in order to successfully produce results, even if the supernatural elements are completely made up. None of this flat world, lightning is an earthquake in the sky, leaching cures ailments BS.
I mean, the alchemy world needs is own peer review or something.

I guess I also mean that the scientist who studies it has to also be open minded... if we walk around with preconceived blinders on, then we will get nowhere, right? The modern world underestimates the past... sure they didn't have the understanding we do but they survived just the same... IMO modern science is so blind to it's own merits and understanding that many cannot see what the past can contribute... Like what if a "ritual" for a potion was timed? the timer could be the ritual it's self... when the ritual was done the chemical reaction became active... apparently not through the ritual it's self but the "time" it took for it to finish... can you see a mage or alchemist at the time say, "oh just wait 30mins" no they would have to make up a timed ritual to "make" something work... This is how I want a scientist to look at alchemy... just saying, oh those people in the past are just "this flat world, lightning is an earthquake in the sky, leaching cures ailments BS" people will never learn if they discovered things that we didn't...

Nah, I wouldn't credit nonsense, and I doubt many great inventors and scientists were deceived by mytsticisms either, they accomplished much to the credit of being critical, while a great deal of pseudo scientists applied beliefs and attempted to fabricate explanations for everything, leading to much misinformation.

Hey purifyweirdshard since your concern is one that I shared for the game (and other games I love with similar context), and is a topic near and dear to my heart, I will bring unto you this day the most minor of minor spoilers from the heavens above:"Don't worry about it"

*choir ahhhhhs* Haha I'm not as much, now. This was well before Dominique was introduced, which confirmed to me the "church" as stated in her description has some kind of power. Even if she's not playable, seems that some kind of stuff in that vein will be usable items. Good enough to tide me over...but I appreciate this bit of info too! Seeing you with the holy sword in the Bloodless thread and thinking about your first podcast reminded me again of this thread is all, thinking "wonder if I made it obvious enough that we feel very similarly about this stuff in games" ;p
