I wonder why Konami decided to self-destruct like that. Seems pretty stupid to me. Who knows, I would like to have that information too. Why exactly are you surprised? CEOs are known for being out of touch with reality. Most of them are rich folk that lack the ability to empathize with the common folk and don't understand the industry. Their main business strategy has always been to follow popular trends, drawn and improperly interpreted from statistical data, and treating their employees, much like their costumers, like nothing more than numbers. It seems to be this case, which is maybe a sad fact. |

Not even sure I want to keep my pre-order of MGS5 anymore. I may just wait and buy it used down the road at a later point (especially since school is starting soon anyway). Also what they're doing with the Castlevania IP at this point is saddening, but not surprising (the "Castlevania erotic violence" slot machine game). Do what you want. Vote with your dollar. It's important people support big games like this and the creative team's efforts, but I can understand people not supporting it as a result of all the crazy stuff going on. I don't think there's a "wrong" answer here. Though, if people choose to not support or do a mass boycott of MGS5 it might make things worse for Konami since they pumped so much money into the project. But then again, I have no idea how much money they're making off gambling and mobile games. |

gotta remember japanese culture and business is very different from a lot of other places, its almost still feudal in some respects, like Iga said most people will join a company and stay there through their whole career, they dont typically bounce from company to company and public shaming is a huge component of their culture
some of the people here who are from/in Japan can probably elaborate more, but in some ways to an outsider it would seem just as backward or wierd as someone in the US getting fired because they naturally have blaze red hair thats considered 'dyed' by management and refuses to dye their hair to be 'more natural' or because of some drunk facebook post 6 years ago that was on their own time but somehow reflects on 'the company', or getting fired because someone else finds out youre lgbtwtfbbqwhatever and pitches a fit to management who fires you for 'performance issues'

The idea that employees can get in trouble for things they do off the clock and always be monitored is unnerving. |

Konami with their IPs:  It really is sad though to see where the future appears to be going for all of those games. I was super excited for MGS5 and was really happy to be able to preorder the limited edition before it ran out, but all of their recent actions are a total betrayal for the fans that have bought their games for years. Seeing oversexualized cheapened Castlevania, and cancelling Silent Hills for the new Silent Hill slot machine game is just enough. |

Next up: Metal Gear Erotic Violence. Featuring The Boss, EVA, Quiet, Sniper Wolf, and Meryl with over-exaggerated bodies. Also featuring a bonus version for the ladies: Minimal clothing Solid/Liquid Snake as they recreate the shower fight scene from MGS:PW. Unfortunately there'll be no RIP for Silent Hill, Castlevania, or Metal Gear... Konami will use them until they mean nothing anymore. Worst part is that once the damage is done, it's done. I am glad Iga was able to come out of it before all this started happening.

Next time Konami does something dumb, he should do what Red Letter Media did in their Transformers 4 review where they give it less than 15 seconds of attention to acknowledge they don't like it and move on. I'll just say for now though that yes LGBTWTFBB is protected from workplace discrimination in many first world countries (I wont pretend to know if it is in all), but I personally have no trust/faith in CNN regarding these kinds of matters.
