Seems to be plenty of out of bounds-ish secrets to find. Luckily, I had found that hairstyle a couple days ago. Currently trying to get that stupid mutt Gieremund to drop its one ? item, but 200 little snausages later, only heavily stocked on skins and fangs, lol.

I got tired of trying to look for a map for some of the stuff I couldnt find. So on my current play through has me making this map:
Every color you see there has some meaning. Still not happy with the colors, but so much information to pass on.

The more I think on it, the more disapointed I am in the writing department of this game. Everything else was fine, until the last hour storywise: SPOILERS: they gave zangetsu the idiot ball (why not keep the sword if you were just to go see gremory anyway he should have just tried fighting her, and lost just as Miri entered the room, in which he passes the sword to her, and miri finishes Gremory off in his stead. He dies for nothing.),
it was revealed that Alfred is not all that bad (why not tell us what the heck you are doing and why instead of hiding it?)
they made Dom the villain at the last second (she was so good and nice the entire time, only to be hateful and the true villain all along? despite trying to save a childs life at the start of the game? not buying it).
it all happened almost at once and I felt the writing was terrible from that point on. Last boss was weak. this is supposed to be THE head demon, over all the demons and he gets completely rekt in his first time at bat? No. Just no.
Also, Orlock absolutely hated Miriam in the end, and Miriam absolutely hated Dom. No sorrow, just "ok, I hate you now, raaaaah!"
Is Orlock dead, or back in hell now when the castle was sent back to hell?
I do not see why I should care about any future stories when they killed off everyone but two characters, and the biggest baddest demon of all demons.
Where will the future tension be if the main demon of hell can be defeated so easily?
This game was a 100 up until that time, but now it's a 70-80 at most.

This game was a 100 up until that time, but now it's a 70-80 at most. Zangetsu gave up his sword because he knows that Gremory will not engage Zangetsu in combat because she's afraid of him. Giving Miriam the sword is to surprise Gremory because she doesn't expect her to have it. Without the sword, Gremory will fight Zangetsu, so Zangetsu uses this chance to prevent Gremory from escaping so Miriam can finish the job. Otherwise she will escape into an alternate dimension.
Alfred not telling Miriam or Johannes his plan was explained before he died. I don't remember the explanation so it was probably a bad one.
Dom being the villain is the "twist" of this game. Not much foreshadowing but eh. Castlevania's strong point was never its story. It's usually beat the Big Bad and watch the castle go down. The end.
Doesn't seem to me that Orlock hates Miriam. Miriam did something that was against the rules so he went to punish her, got his ass beat, and feels slightly humiliated. He's a vampire so he doesn't die.
The final boss is easy because you became too strong. Even Dracula in SotN is easy despite him being Dracula if you grind. The same goes for any final boss. Some members here are having trouble with the final boss just so you know. And there's always Nightmare mode.
But yeah killing Gebel and Zangetsu is sort of a waste. (Although Zangetsu's death is left ambiguous. All you see is him being sent to some place. Hell maybe? Perhaps when you play as him you'll see his fate.

I just love that IGA's best attack is his Yeah, phase two requires a fair amount of precision to dodge, at least without resorting to any kind of trick. I also love that the shard you get for beating him is precisely the wine attack, and that it harkens back to the holy water subweapon from Castlevania. The only thing missing is him saying " what is a man? a miserable little pile of secrets!" when he kills you, but since that line was pretty much made up for the original English version of Symphony of the Night, it makes sense that it's not in there.

was i the only one that felt the last part of the game dissapointing? WARNING!! HEAVY END GAME SPOILERS AHEAD! i have never cared about how lazy the plot is in these games. I am here for the gameplay, the challenge, the demons, the waifus and the things that make iga games great.
i reached the final area and just as i expected it was going to be a chaotic realm/the abyss stage and at first i was very excited but it only took like 5 mins of exploration to find the truth.
the last part of the game its a pointless map filler that constitutes about 15% of the map in huge rooms that are recycled from garden of silence. the final demons of the bestiary are nothing but some of the weakest monsters in the game but resized. i am okay with palette swaps and modified models but they just increased the size of the least interesting enemies.
i was very annoyed. it was a tricky move. since i reached the place with 80% of map completion i was expecting an awesome finale, just to find out that the last quarter of the map is just a terrible filler level.
Ice tomb was okay and the boss fights were absolutely epic but den of the behemots its an absolute dissapointment.
it lowered my 95 to 90. at least Dominique fight was great. can't wait to fight her in hard mode.

Something on this level is above even Dracula, and yet we have already beaten the big bad this easily?
It was just three heads in a circle. Not very intimidating at all. I mean, in the future if this is the most powerful demon to exist, and they bring him back again as a final boss, we are just gonna be like, yeah ok, I already beat you.
and if they bring in a different demon, it will still not be that great because they have establlished that this is most powerful of all demons, so any future final bosses lore wise will have to be less powerful than this one, which diminishes their impact as well.

Max level for familiars is 99. Bloodbringer is the second strongest one handed sword behind Blue Rose. But if an enemy is resistant to ice then Bloodbringer is the strongest. I'm not including weapons gotten with 8-bit coins. Dunno if this has been posted here before, but has anyone noticed there appears to be a really cool bug with Bloodbringer? If you try to equip it from the status screen while the Bloodbringer familiar is summoned, the game won't let you. However ...
if you use a shortcut which includes Bloodbringer, you can equip the sword with the familiar summoned - the game apparently doesn't check the familiar summoned flags when you go through a shortcut. Please, please don't fix this bug, 505. It's really nice to have.

Did discover the Jinrai move to be the one we used in beta to break boundaries, but have been unable to get it to do what it did then. Still a good move and useful, but it doesn't seem to have the breaking qualities it once had. dareka Good catch on the Bloodbringer. Did think it was a nice little touch to limit it to weapon use/familiar use, along with the weapon gaining power as the familiar grows stronger. Gives me ideas for how they could implement a 'living weapon' or something along those lines.

I have to agree, I really dislike the DoB. Just giant sized prior enemies? At least the level after it is visually interesting.
On a side note, the sword on the cover is reaally good XD I love it.

I know everyone is all on the SotN vibes and everything and I can agree with that, but.....I noticed more than a bit that seemed to tie into OoE, as well. At least, in regards to the Alchemists and some of those journal entries......almost like Shanoa was one of the original Shardbinders, before they were able to fully understand that crystalized souls/glyphs were able to produce far more powerful effects, with the drawback being higher corruption rates. I know they can't be tied together and only referenced, due to series and such, but thought it was a rather interesting thing to note.

How I would improve Den of the Behemoth: 1. Get rid of frogs. They were way too uninteresting. 2. Include Giant Barbatos, which shoot multiple arrows and fires faster. 3. The cannons should be the wheeled version which can move backward, and it's attacks should repel you back until out of range, and act as some form of bullet hell. 4. The leek should be replaced with Alraune who can use a poison pollen kiss attack and also swing vines at you. 5. Make Giant Morte actually do things and also give you a 'turn giant' shard which greatly boost your physical stats and provide damage reduction but change your hit box. 6. Giant Mimic. Enough said. 7. Bats should be aggressive and additionally be able to attack from afar. 8. A waterway section with massive fish and jellyfish, which lead up to a boss.
And Dominique: 1. Explain her backstory and if Gremory corrupted her. 2. What exactly happens to demons when their shards are collected. 3. Make the boss fight at least a bit more interesting. Even Aria's chaos has two phase. Alternatively Let's say she is acting as a conduit and Bael is still entering our world. The real task is to hunt down Dominique who only occasionally pops her head out. Judging on your perfomance, you fight Beal's second form which uses a deformed Dominique to attack you as she crying spit out her backstory.
4. Give Dominique more unique shards and some summons.

So I need help from someone who got 100% of the items. Edit: I don't need anymore lol. I'm missing two head Head Armors: - The one between Bunny Ears and Maid's Hairband - The very last one, after Pleiades I have no idea where to find them, and apparently they aren't craftable so I'm at a loss here.
Edit: I got it! If anyone is having trouble with these: First one is at Livre Ex Machina, on a hidden room at the right side of a save point. It's above a room full of spikes a the bottom, you have to break the roof to get access to it. I don't know how I missed, the game even puts a platform to be accessible. The last is behind a pillar of poker chips in the Den of Behemoths, there's a hidden chest there.

Den of Behemoth: Give the giant frogs a tongue attack. At their size miriam would make for a very tasty snack...
About the writing. I don't think Zangetsu dies, I mean sure it would be a short stick for the character if it is true, but it is also possible he ends up in a different final area or has to fight his way out of hell, badass samurai that he is? Remember he is another playable character in the game.
It just fills me with such joy to hear anything about how people enjoy the 8 bit weapons. Hearing just about anything about my own just makes my day. [/spoilers]
