Looks like the Bloodstained team(s) break the kickstarter curse and actually deliver a polished, quality game. I also love the cocky intro of the video ! lol that was all Angel-Corlux . I helped him pull those comments. CastleDan assisted as well I believe (and he's in there!)

Is it safe to say the reason why the Switch version is getting released later is to help deal with issues from the previous build?

I'm very happy with this update, but after taking a quick glance at the Kickstarter page, many, many people are only now requesting a platform change. Why on earth do so many people wait until the 11th hour? It doesn't seem reasonable to expect 505 and Fangamer to make last minute second requests so late into production. Oh well, I'm personally looking forward to my GOG and physical copies.

Great work! The introduction was laugh-out-loud hilarious and yet so subtle that it took me a second to figure out (after rewinding early on) that Youtube wasn't acting up and the comments were actually embedded within the video. I am totally fine with holding the Switch version back to polish things up. I am very pleased with the effort and care and courteousness all around. And seeing those swinging guillotines moving in two different directions in that sewer/dungeon area is another piece of evidence that my article wasn't mistaken in how this game is thoughtfully taking some Classicvania concepts to heart. I do wonder about what modes will make it in this launch version of the game, though... I seem to recall there being a statement somewhere over the last few years that they'd like to get it all out at once. Angel-Corlux / Question : This was something discussed on these boards before in recent weeks/months. I think that first part of the video was from the old build, but it had the nice nailed patchwork assets on the wood. Did those ever get put back into the final build, or were they restricted from being used when Inti Creates left or for memory restriction reasons? Here's an example from the new trailer:
Same question regarding the secret map room. Is the detailed map back, or was it left as a blank piece of crumpled paper on the wall?
As I've said before, it's not the end of the world either way, but it's something I, and I think others, have been curious about here; and this trailer was all about implementing changes, so I was wondering about the status and logic behind these two cases. All in all, though, I'm confident the game will be fantastic. Thanks for all your hard work!

ZANGETSU FIGHT
First of all, pay attention to the layers. The pillars goes ALL THE WAY to the background. You have statues, a carpet, more pillars, stairs and lots of other small and beautifully crafted details. It's impressive how huge this improvement is. Not only that, we are seeing Miriam fightning Zangetsu using what appears to be Reflector Ray Shard
Interestingly enough, in the Beta Backer Demo, the layers went that far back too, but it was hard to see that because the lighting was the same on all of them. Even in the video, there are ~7 layers of pillars and carpet on the old shot, but they all blend into each other. This screenshot shows what some proper lighting can do to increase depth.
T'is why I maintained at the time that there was plenty of detail, but a lack of proper lighting. I'm glad the devs took the time to polish it up

Do we know what modes the game is launching with? Have they made a recent statement on the state of the stretch goal modes?
I can live with the usual IGA model of base game, additional character runs after you cleared the game, and a boss rush for launch.

Totally surprised by the release date, would have guessed August to September for sure. Great work to the Bloodstained team for all of their hard work. Also good job on adding those extra lighting effects for the lava stage to have the light interact with the character models. Really look forward to playing this game, wouldn't have expected that I'd get to play this before Samurai Shodown comes out! Angel-Corlux / Question: There's probably not a lot of tweaks you can make to the game at this point but I would like to restate some of the previous recommendations for the the Galleon Minerva that were raised by RichterB and myself including rope textures (still looks very generic and bland in today's video), wood textures especially for the really lightly colored wood, and physics for interacting with the hammocks. See the first few pages of this thread for pictures and examples. In the grand scheme of things these are very minor things but it would certainly be appreciated if you could sneak those into the final build. Really hope this game is a success for all parties involved so everyone on the team gets to pay their bills and more and we can get a sequel!

Foffy Naw nothing like that, I kinda think that most of that they will just leave for the fan's to discover as they play the game to be honest and that's fine with me. hyugakojiroI unfortunately learnt the hard way last year not to put that much faith in my guesses when it came to release dates, a bitter lesson to be sure but I had it coming. I'm glad your surprise this year is more fun than mine was.

I'm glad your surprise this year is more fun than mine was. I don't think that's a smart move, as players might be expecting something like the Rougelike or the six stage mode and get a bit upset that they're not there. It's very important to know what might NOT be at launch, so the expectations of launch are in order.

Foffy Mind you I'm sure all the stretch goals will be met and I could be wrong that they won't explain if all the goals are in the base package. I'm also sure they they will drop at least some of that info in promotional stuff, I mean hell some of the alternate modes is bound to be on the box, so yea we will know about some of that beforehand. But as far as telling all the different modes and how to access them I think that part they will leave for the fans to discover. I'd hope that all the different modes are in the base product at release, but either way I'm sure it will all work out Time 4 TeaMost of the changing of platforms it seems are Switch owners not wanting to wait a week for their copy, I'm actually kinda surprised that 505 or whoever didn't decide to release it all at once. It works to my advantage personally and a week isn't too bad a wait, plus pretty much everyone had at least a physical and digiatal coming too them so they should still be someway for most of em, still sucks though.

Really hope this game is a success for all parties involved so everyone on the team gets to pay their bills and more and we can get a sequel! Oh, I second these sentiments on the wood and rope textures and hammock physics (and a pushing animation). And it's still not entirely clear to me about the state of the platform/character interactions. But I assumed from the trailer that most of those are probably out of reach at this point...
As Pure Miriam said, the blood pool's liquid is a little flat looking, too, but I imagine that the lighting and other things took precedence, and logically, probably should have.
Nice though they would have been, some of these details will blur away a bit during gameplay anyway.
Besides the modes, now I'm really curious about how many areas this game will have and what kind of musical arrangements we'll see from Kaufman and Koshiro. Exciting times! Very happy the 505/ArtPlay team presumably kept a lot under wraps. I have so many little extra too-good-to-be-true sort of hopes for this project...like side quests that aren't just slay 20 fill-in-the-blank monsters or collect these three ingredients for a special potion. I'm still hoping for some Simon's Quest-style mysteries (albeit with better clues), like when you meet the secret merchant in the graveyard with garlic, or use the crystal to drain the lake.
I too am surprised its release date is so soon. It's somewhat startling after all this time.

Definitely glad to be playing this game at least a month sooner than I thought I would be! Regarding the new Zangetsu fight, I'm wondering if perhaps the footage is from a new game + mode? The reason being the laser warp shard is being used and to me that seems like a shard you'd get a bit later in the game. Would be kinda cool if it was earlier on too or perhaps "sequence breaking" could allow you to get it before encountering Zangetsu in a first playthrough. Either way, it's application in combat looks fun and I'm excited to try it (and many other shards we haven't seen yet) soon!

I don't know who to ask so I will tag everyone I can remember that might know... I believe it's been stated that Backers will get their games on the launch day of their given system, so long as there aren't any mishaps. We will supposedly not be getting them earlier than that.

Angel-Corlux , Question Nothing to say 'xcept congrats, guys! This is what listening to the players looks like: not just trying to appease them with post-launch patches, but understanding where the criticism's coming from and taking an actual financial risk to address it. You know, whenever a game's delayed the publisher's all like " yeah, we did it to create an ever higher-quality product," but those of us who've worked in the industry know it's all BS: more like you're scrambling to meet the bare minimum needed to sell the game at retail, cutting features that aren't working, redesigning around them and debugging like crazy. This time, though, you guys weren't just fixing bugs - well, you were doing that, of course, but that's not all you were doing, and the proof is in the pudding. The trailer really brought that message home, and that's what makes it so outstanding. Yes, a game was actually delayed to make it better, people. It actually happened.

You know, i was thinking...there are still of questions and some doubts i want answers, but i believe since the game will be released next month, i'm sure they are following a big marketing campaign right now, and most of these questions will be answered. My questions are mostly focused on the stretch goals. I'm sure some of them CAN'T be answered due to how "spoilery" they are, some of them can't be answered due to some other situations, so i'm not gonna make them, but what i want to know is how the game will be released. Some stretch goals can easily be built with the game itself (some of them are mandatory, actually) but some of them are completely different modes and other extra stuff. Beforehand i remember they discussed the possibility of the game being released in a staggered content (the main game and features, and extra modes being released freely later on). I believe they will market the game and will address that, but even so, i'm curious how everything will work out. Let me GUESS, IF THE GAME is released in a STAGGERED WAY, what i think it MAY happen: CONTENT AT THE GAME'S RELEASE: Main game, all three playable characters, Hard and Nightmare mode, cheat codes, boss rush mode, CONTENT TO BE RELEASED LATER ON AS FREE DOWNLOADS: local co-op, speed run mode, classic mode, 8-bit tracks, asynchronous online multiplayer, online challenge mode, roguelike dungeon, boss revenge mode. ( OBS: i didn't mention New Boss, Retro Level, Iga's biggest castle and orchestrated tracks because i assume these things are part of the main game, and thus, mandatory). What do you guys think?

If I had to bet I'd say you're most likely to be right, though I personally hope we get all of the bonus content (Boss Revenge Mode, etc) at launch.
The thing with doing staggered releases is that even if occasionally necessary, it still introduces an element of expense, uncertainty, and irritation that's best avoided. Nobody likes waiting around for a patch to download a part of the game they paid for up front, they'd like to start playing it immediately or work on unlocking it immediately. In terms of resources, if you have your guys n gals working on stretch goals after the game is released, that's less time they have to work on a sequel (and remember, IGA would like this to be a franchise). If they really couldn't get everything done by release day, I can understand that, but it would be pleasing for the fans and more convenient for them if they had a fully complete game on launch, and I would encourage them to work towards that goal. With Wayforward's help, it should be possible.
