Eh, I don't think it's reasonable to say that Bloodstained is much "more anime" than OoE, Aria or even SotN. The more likely comparison in those guys' minds (what they'd rather see) is the art style of the non-Iga Castlevania games. I had an initial distaste for the art style of DoS and PoR myself, but this game's is pretty far removed from that, isn't it? A number of the older fans might want the gruff, barbarian-ish + monster movie vibe with a slightly goofy/campy edge, that's old classicvania. It's also something quite difficult to do well in modern times, I think, for large companies and even small indies. The tough guy/muscle man aesthetic, setting, monsters being in pop culture - all that would be a pretty rough nostalgia sell now. If Konami ever does anything at all again, at most it will be somewhat of a compromise with those themes + moving forward into something modern/serious, much like what Lords of Shadow was, which is yet another example of thing that some fans want rather than an "anime" look or something more Japanese flavored than it needs to be. The true misfortune of all this is that Iga is delivering to Igavania fans what they've wanted all this time, and to a fairly large section of classicvania fans what they'd been searching for as well, but there remains a diehard contingent of guys as I've mentioned above that may never be satiated and that sucks. Anyone that's been in the CV fandom long enough surely knows what I mean. I...guess this is still on topic? lol. True, though I think movie-monster bosses could very well be doable in this day and age. I love the classic Hammer movie monsters as much as everybody, but I think they could do a good job in today's era (the cusp of the 2020s) with classic monsters from thee 80s and 90s, which are 30-40 years old now just as the Hammer monsters were by the time of the first Castlevania. A boss based off of Pinhead from Hellraiser, for instance. But in any case, you are right, Ayame Kojima was already more "anime," comparatively, and most of the really oldschool fans might be looking for the old muscleman Simon/Trevor from CV1-3, which wouldn't be as marketable today. Everyone loves Miriam for...predictable reasons. ;3 That'd be a neat spinoff game. A perpetual Boss Rush mode, but all the bosses and characters are done with a more classic movie-monster appearance. Call it Monster Bash or some such, too. Could you imagine going to town on Wolfman whilst playing as the One Eyed Purple People Eater?

Hey everyone,
It's a real pleasure to see you all satisfied with what we've shown recently. The work is still continuing, and we didn't even show a lot of what has already been improved / done etc.
To answer some questions, pings, etc.:
- Thank you to everyone for your kind words, even though not all of us always reply personally, rest assured we see your pings and very much appreciate your kind sentiments and pass them along to the team.
- Regarding whether or not other playable characters can use the invert shard, I don't believe so, but I'm confirming with my producer just to be sure.
- For how invert works, once used, the entire castle & enemies etc. will stay inverted until you use the shard again or if you approach an endless or "trigger" area like the sky in the video you saw. (could also be a boss, cut scene etc.)
Please feel free to tag me if I missed anything or if you have further questions, and thank you everyone for all your support.
We're all working really, really hard!

Angel-Corlux I guess my only real question for now (other than the one I asked Question on the 1st page) is "Will Speed Run Mode deliberately include sequence-breaking glitches that are inaccessible in the normal game mode?"I'm fairly certain the answer will be "Yes", but I'm asking anyway.

Agreed. There is one thing I would like to address which I don't think has been discussed before (please correct me if I'm wrong) and that's the Netcode for the game's online functionality. I really hope that 505 and Art Play will invest in a quality roll back based netcode for Bloodstained. Too often video game companies, especially Japanese ones, opt to use input delay based netcodes for their games, which do work great in a small and high-tech savvy country like Japan, but don't work very well for other countries and regions such as the US, South America, Europe, etc.
Bloodstained is the kind of game that has very precise input requirements similar to your typical fighting game and it's my hope that the game will be as fun to play online as offline. I've played a number of online fighting games and many of them do not have very good netcodes and as a result the online play quickly dies out. This is the last thing I'd want to see happen for Bloodstained.
IGA may not even be aware that this is an issue so it would be greatly appreciated if the team at 505 could point this out to him and/or the development team.
The roll back netcode makes a tremendous difference and opens up viable online play for many more players than possible with traditional input delay based netcodes. Here's a great example that shows fan reactions and feedback to implementing a roll back netcode. In this instance Code Mystics went above and beyond by upgrading the netcode for a game they ported to PC for another company (SNK) and fan reactions was resoundingly positive. I don't know what Way Forward's or DICO's past experiences are with net coding but I can vouch for Code Mystics ability to create a high quality netcode if you're looking for an outsourcing partner for online play.
I know what you mean. Personally my approach to Bloodstained is specifically not to compare it to SotN for the very reasons you listed as by doing so you're automatically setting yourself up for disappointment. I think it's going to be a fantastic game and my plan is to judge it on its own merits and not as a current-gen version of SotN.

My pleasure, and just a quick follow up, I can confirm that (for now) Miriam is the only one 100% confirmed to use the invert ability shard.
[REDACTED] can't use the inverted shard, but [REDACTED] may still use it in the final game, the team is still working to see if it's possible considering [REDACTED]'s abilities and lore.

That would be awesome... and makes more sense then my idea if there was a password system somewhere or even as a "code" that would be awesome... maybe a code that puts a REDACTED over a character maybe a random character lol... OH!!!... awww I just realized the voice acting part is over... it would have been cool to hear Bismarck Kappa III yell "REDACTED" as he does a punch!!! haha...
and once the crate comes out Bismarck Kappa III jumps out and a boss battle ensues lol
