This whole problem with the linux, vita, and mac, does raise an interesting problem, the shelf life of Bloodstained on the ps4 and steam.
The ps5 was leaked out not too long ago, with no word as to backwards compatibility.
And while steam has shown no signs of going under any day soon, now it has competition. Some games are able to still activate without steam, is bloodstained one of them?
Hopefully when the game releases we aren't finding ourselves sucking blood from a stone.

Some games are able to still activate without steam, is bloodstained one of them? Ritual of the Night is still being released via GOG. That means a DRM-free version will exist, so no worries about being Steam-dependent.
Actually, given the recent broadening of the online PC gaming market space, I wonder how long it'll be until a Bloodstained title appears on another storefront.

A new platform won't really affect the longterm viability of the game. The PS3 wasn't discontinued until ten years after launch and new games came out well into 2018. March 2019 is when PS+ on the PS3 will finally end.

I thought there'd be way less people on GameFAQs than that, but cool. Bloodstained's #1 on that poll.

Oh that's low, Galamoth. GameFAQs polls easily get into five digits.

Haha, well either way, this one came just short of 5 digits itself at the end with 9,653 votes in the 24h period and actually improving our % without much word of mouth I'm aware of. We closed at a higher 24.01% (2,318) over Sekiro's 22.3%. None of the placings changed.
The point with this to me is that at least in this specific audience, all the bad we've had lately apparently isn't so bad to the point that people aren't excited that were. Many, many people anxiously await the big reveals that will come with the release date and the eventual drop of the game.

This particular player isn't excited anymore, seeing as I won't have the game on the platform I backed. If enough sheep buy it, do we stand a snowball's chance of getting Linux support Question ?

How interesting that you choose to call the rest of us that. No need to start an argument here, as I don't think he's referring to you/us. Rather from his perspective, the many uninformed/non-involved/caring of the issues he's experiencing.

purifyweirdshard Not looking to start an argument, but I did have my suspicions of his implication. Perhaps I was wrong, but I still find it interesting.

purifyweirdshard Not looking to start an argument, but I did have my suspicions of his implication. Perhaps I was wrong, but I still find it interesting. I was not in fact refering to anyone on the forum, but rather non backers who don't know all the behind the scenes things going on. Calling the uninformed masses sheep is not a novel idea or without precedent. Hence I used a term that would exclude people who follow everything closely by default.
I find it intersting that you have suspicions of my implication. Are my dark arts working so well? You're not the only one who can assert implications where there are none. I might say it's positively captivating how you are suspicious of me.
Ask me anything and I'll answer directly; I'm an open book and I have no desire to obfuscate my intentions or start a pissing match. I just want actual answers from Question .

clivethebarker I was under the same impression as Galamoth . After reading your response word for word, I can see that you were referring to future buyers of the game and not those who already have invested (like the majority of us on the forum). Having said that I, personally, try to stay away from words and phrases that could be disrespectful towards any group as strong opinions and stances can get people riled up to defend theirs.

Having said that I, personally, try to stay away from words and phrases that could be disrespectful towards any group as strong opinions and stances can get people riled up to defend theirs. Let's be brutally honest, a lot of the masses ARE sheep, otherwise games made by abusive companies like EA and Activision that are made to drain wallets wouldn't exist anymore. At this point, even if we point out 2 major system cuts for moronic reasons and 2 for support has ended reasons, people won't care. Hell, quite a few prolly won't care that a team can't put out a quick hotfix for a demo to fix a gamebreaking bug and a lack of PC controls, despite having a previous demo that had neither issue. A lot of people won't care about what goes on behind the scenes, no matter how much the devs decide to fuck people over- and while these instances might be minor compared to the crap pulled at the end of last year by a lot of AAA companies, it's still going to be enough to put some people off. I know I'm done with IGA after this, Vita and Wii U I could understand, but Mac and Linux are bigger than most realize- to pull this crap without even an offer of refund- post release or otherwise- is sickening, not to mention I'm still pissed they fucked over PC in general with the 2nd backer demo. If they can't respect the fans that got this project off the ground, why should we come back?

Yeah, the industry is rife with corruption and bad practices. Studios release Call of Battlefield 42: Electric Boogaloo and idiots buy the microtransactions and other tat that comes with it. Now Sony is getting on the censorship bandwagon, and I'd like to support Nintendo's console, but as usual they release something with the computing power of a potato rather than a proper console with real controllers. Not a great place to be in as an informed gamer.

I'm not an active user in this forum and I'm also not a backer, but I've been following this project ever since it got announced and I also have been keeping an eye on the discussions here, so I decided to step in to give my two cents.
I think everything that had to be said about the Linux and Mac versions being cancelled and the backers not receiving refunds has already been said so I won't touch that subject.
The way this project is being handled is a textbook example of why I stopped backing anything in Kickstarter. I thought devs and publishers had learned a lesson from MN9 and many other Kickstarter disasters on how to NOT completely ruin their projects, but it seems that's not the case. At this point I have but one question: just how much more good will are 505 Games and ArtPlay willing to burn? I'd say they don't have much left.
That's it, just a short rant.

@konodiada I backed this and Forsaken Castle, an metroidvania (or another one if Bloodstained is one, but I rather call it IGAvania).
I am also done with kickstarter projects.
