I love the idea of a clock system in the game! Being a hermit, I don't like sun much, so the clock system in Symphony of the Night is perfect (time sensitive equipment). Maybe the moon could change colours depending on the time, like Persona 3, and just like Simon's Quest, only certain entities should appear during a specific time. Time sensitive events are a bad idea, either, as it creates more interest and motivation for players to actively engage with the game.
I would like to take this up a notch and suggest the game to be synced with our console/PC clock and calendar, and ask for the players' birthday, then give them a present on the day of. It could be in a form of a care package like 10 potions, 10 Mana Potions, some antidotes, and what have you. Or maybe have a character greet you "Good morning", "Good afternoon", or "Good evening" on the start screen depending on the time you turn the game on.

I think it should come down t- WHAT A HORRIBLE NIGHT TO HAVE A CURSE.
o the setting really, it would be very cool to have day and night settings and have different enemies at different times, but that will effectively double the work they have to do on each ar- THE MORNING SUN HAS VANQUISHED THE HORRIBLE NIGHT.
ea since itll have to be built for different lighting and that changes the mood of an area. Honestly i think this is best reserved for a future game, that way the focus of the game could be time and change, and they could truly up the wow factor around it, and this game they can focus heavily on establishing mood and tone with a static "time" for each area ^_^
But little things where theres a massive clocktower (would love to see a giant water clock with floating temperature bulbs near it in some astronomy/alchemy tower) that keeps up with the system clock or npcs give you greetings based on time or date would be cool

Astaroth: How does an ever changing Clock Tower sound to you? Like a real clock, the gears change as time goes on, making it an hourly rogue dungeon!

Ooooiooh \^_^/
I would love a mini rogue dungeon in the clocktower, i foresee it being an issue though for people who want their chaos and order in seperate modes >P
However... having a BG door in the clocktower with the inscription "The Realm of Chaos resides within, only the worthy or foolish may enter." and have the opening cutscene of the rogue mode be Miriam opening that door would be an awesome way to tie it to the castle ^^

Keeps the players of their toes; just as they thought they had memorized the Clock Tower, and then suddenly... BAM! It's different!

Knowing just what silly stuff the Unreal 4 engine is capable of you could just institute a mechanic like mentioned earlier about moonlight / sunlight lighting some rooms and others done by candles etc: and the engines lighting dynamics would take care of the rest. Don't bother with enemy behavior in such situations unless its something very simple like detection distance etc:. But it is fully doable with very little issue from my limited knowledge of the engine. Suffice to say that thing is STRONG.

I think there should definitely be a day/night cycle. While I do like a 24 hours cycle as an idea, that will bring a problem to people having a job. To society, we're not kids anymore and can't just play whenever we feel like it because responsibilities. If it was this cycle, I would only be able to play at night, and thus it would only be nighttime in-game and I wouldn't get anything from daytime. If I had all the time in the world though, that would be an interesting play. This brings us to "how much time should a cycle last?". 14 minutes seem kind of short though. Also, remember that nighttimes, normally, are shorter than daytimes. For now, let's not take into account the whole "demon castle" thing which could mean that nights are magically longer. I think 15 minutes of daytime and 9-10 minutes of nighttime should be good, so about 25 minutes for a full day/night cycle. Or do the opposite to make nights last longer, and daytimes shorter. I would like to take this up a notch and suggest the game to be synced with our console/PC clock and calendar, and ask for the players' birthday, then give them a present on the day of. It could be in a form of a care package like 10 potions, 10 Mana Potions, some antidotes, and what have you. Or maybe have a character greet you "Good morning", "Good afternoon", or "Good evening" on the start screen depending on the time you turn the game on. I have way too many applications on my phone that do that and I have not touched them for a long time. Therefore I feel pretty mixed about whether or not it's a good idea. ;_;

I kept thinking the 24 hours thing was a typo for "24 minutes". If it's really 24 hours, that would be way too long. It should be like 30 minutes I'd say.

I personally like it when my electronics talk to me.

Which is why I'm mixed about it: I like it, but it reminds me of my phone. ;-; Small curiousity: who would you want to talk to you, amongst the characters known so far?

It's also not as if the ideas of typical space time are really relevant either. SotN has some areas that are night / day right beside each other if memory serves.

I think I'll go with the fourteen minute cycle. That gives plenty of time to sample both atmospheres, while constantly keeping the game fresh. Additionally, it tends to keep the player on their toes, should enemies only appear at certain times (AKA Some during day, some during night).

I'm amazed that everyone wants a clock system! Most of you want stages sunlit at appropriate times, but we appear to have a conflict regarding the Real Time Vs Play Time Clocks. There also appears to be some interest in Play Time Clock cycles lasting more than 14 minutes (but less than 24 hours)
And then we also have some great comments regarding Calendar and Weather systems as well... I must admit the idea of Calendar System with changing seasons appeals to me just as much as a Clock System with changing day and night atmospherics... And then you consider the possibility of a Weather System on top of all that, --each playthrough can become a truly unique experience and add tremendous replay value to the final game.
A Weather System could be a stand-alone item, but Calendar Systems are based on Real Time (and thus a Real Time Clock System)... Looking back I wish I had included these elements in the poll, because I'm wondering how many people might reconsider their answers... I think Bloodstained may need an Options Menu so players can tailor the game experience to suit their needs.

...i'd also like to see day/night transitions... and i'd really like to see this play an active role in the castle. for example, secret rooms unlock depending on how the sun casts the stain glass into the room. This would need to be tied to actual hints, mind you, i don't want this to just be random "stand in every room for 8 hours and hope you find one with a secret". maybe the hint for the room is discovered in a book in one of the many libraries. Whisperingid said a while back this about having the daylight at a certain hour shine through stained glass windows and unlock a secret. I think that's a pretty rad idea.

I'd be cool with a 24-hour clock if it was only used for visual or background differences like lighting that changes depending on the time of day or night. Linking it with game content like map areas or bosses would feel like too much.
