I love clock systems.
I love how Simon's Quest depicted outdoor setting in both day and night. I love how Simon's Quest monsters were stronger at night, than during the day. I love how Simon's Quest townfolk would close up shop and lock their doors at night. I love how Castlevania 64 and Legacy of Dakrness had time sensitive events and puzzles. I love how Sympony of the Night introduced time sensitive equipment (Moonstone and Sunstone)
I'd really like to see these kind of ideas return for Bloodstained, but let's hear your opinions.

I'm ok with that but personally I'd rather have weather or something like that running off an in game clock. Both would be best if implemented well. No preference on how it's done as long as it doesn't draw away from my in game experience.

I liked the system in Legacy of Darkness, how the stages would play out differently sometimes whether it was day/night. Same with the enemies. It'd be nice to be in-sync with the day/night cycle of real life, that would motivate us to try out bosses at different times and increases replayability.
For this particular game, even though the "outside" world would still be running on normal time, I would like to keep the area surrounding the castle itself to be locked in darkness for atmospheric purposes (and also because it is the Ritual of the Night). It could be that during the "day", the moon is absent, and during the night it returns to power the demons' strengths to their fullest. Maybe it can even be just an aesthetic change: Demons look truly monstrous/energized in the night, and look less intimidating/drained during the "day".

Clock systems are cool in my book
They add to the overall atmosphere and make the world feel more alive

I don't want real time for the simple fact I rarely get to play games during the day. I work all day during the week and do family stuff on weekends. I'd be missing out if any content was tied to a real time clock.
Otherwise though I am all for it and don't particularly care which type of system is used. I wish second the weather comment, I think both weather and ruined if day would be great additions.

I enjoy the concept of a clock system in games--it can be either a novel element or tied closer to the flow and progression of the game and I find it a fun little detail either way. However I have to agree with Thomas--if it was a true 24 hour time clock many players who do not have the time to play during daylight hours would be missing out on content that only occurred during the day. Perhaps if the system was more akin to Skyrim or Fallout where there is simply a 'wait' option where you could switch between day and night times if you were in no immediate danger, otherwise time flows normally. This way you could experience both night-side and day-side versions of the castle at your leisure.

As someone who has a job and can't afford to wait until a certain hour to play, a realtime clock would not make me too happy. At best it would mean I would mostly play at the same time of the day in-game, and at worse it might make it very hard to get anything that requires playing at other times

I would like a clock system that cycles between states every 3 hours for things like Day/Night.

I chose a 14 min cycle, but, yeah, I prefer a longer time cycle like 90 min of The Witcher 3. Neither too short nor too long.

They could also introduce the sun/moon cards from 64/LoD. In this world it could be renamed to Sunstained glass and Moonstained glass or something similar.

This doesn't seem like a super complicated game mechanic. If it wouldn't be to hard why not have it as a selectable option in the menus? That way people who want to run low times can and those who don't care or just want to change it to mirror real 24h times in their timezones can as well.
I don't really care as long as its not every 5 minutes. I like beginning my exploration and noticing time passage as I explore. So a longer time would be preferable. ^^^ more reason to have an option I suppose.
I just can't see a reason to lockes down day night cycles to a fixed time unless there are very specific in game mechanical reasons to do so.

Actually I'm not sure what kind of time scale I would find good.
Real time is an absolute no for me. But as to how long a day/night cycle is? More than 10 minutes, less than 1 hour would be a good range to me. 14 minutes sounds about right, but I'm not certain about it as it does sound a bit short and in game play 14 minutes can go by in the blink of an eye sometimes. 3 hours is too long.
As far as it effecting lighting/enemies and the like, I would like to see some areas that are effected and some that are not. Courtyards, gardens, and hallways with lots of windows should be effected, but interior rooms, especially deep interior rooms with no window should not be effected. Something that would be REALLY nice is if the outdoor areas could actually have a sun set in the background. That could lead to some absolutely STUNNING visuals. Maybe even a sunset over water in the more open areas (like the castle entrance) and then over fields or forests in the other areas? Underground areas shouldn't be effected, though it might be nice to have a handful of cavernous rooms with natural "skylights" to switch things up and add some variety environment wise.
I would like to see some things that are effected by time/time-of-day, but they shouldn't be too obscure about them. I mean give SOME kind of hint for the more difficult puzzles involving time.
As such, I've marked myself as undecided.

I'd love the idea of a clock system not so much to change the time of day but something that changes certain items depending on the day and changes weather conditions throughout the time. One moment rooms will have fog, other moments rain, or lightning......
Thing is we already know there will be sunlight based on the test video. Not that I hate it because it looks great I just like more of the gothic darkness over light.

Would also be cool to have weather effects going in the background during certain intervals of the game such as fog, rain/thunder, snow, etc
May be a bit off topic but just imagine UE4 rain splattering against the stained glass windows with bountiful thunder clashing outside
Mmmm ^_^

Anything to add to the atmosphere of Bloodstained. SOTN had a kind of weather system too, now imagine ROTN's with UE4.

I don't necessarily want a 14 minute cycle, but 24 hours is much too long. I would enjoy seeing the sun shine through the windows and various other things like that.

14 minute cycle is too short, and of course, the stages should be lit by sun or the moon as appropriate. Perhaps even a weather system that affects more parts of the castle than just the outer wall from SotN. And who wouldn't want some stained glass windows to have sunlight streaming in through them at certain times? Come onnnn.

Ah! The real benefit of a weather system too though would be on a over cast night. All the rooms would become very dark except for the candles or lamps in the rooms. Would make you think twice about hitting all the candles lest you loose your only light sources
