garvin 100% one of my concerns. That finding rare weapons and finding rare armor from drops of special enemies has less of a focus due to crafting. There's something cool about fighting a medusa and getting a medusa shield drop that's very specific and already there for you to use. I hope there's a mix of that and the crafting drops and not mainly crafting drops. Still a super cool update. I love the animations on all these enemies, they're on point.

Look at the crafting menu, bottom right says crafted. as if it counts how many of a particular item you have crafted. I can't think of a reason to include such a count unless you get benefits for crafting an item multiple times to get more 'skilled' at it or something. Though I don't know why it would have arrows pointing up and down by the number. I have no opinion on th is yet. It doesn't mean that, it's how many at a time you want to make. It should say "To craft" or something, the English is just weird (as with other places as mentioned). Do anyone think Johannes is sort of ... uh... dull and absent light in his eyes? Besides, thin and wax-colored face? I wouldn't worry too much about Johannes' look here mostly because we weren't supposed to see him anyway. These shots that include his face were only visible for a couple of frames in the video (as in, very tiny literal fractions of a second). As this is the first time we've seen him in-game period, it's likely another work in progress. I'm with you guys on hoping that we find weapons and items in-game. I've mentioned it before, but nothing can quite replace the joy of discovery in finding a new sword on a pedestal in the dark recesses of a castle. Finally seeing a rare weapon you didn't know existed drop. Unlocking the hidden path to that holy claymore. The list goes on ;p

EnkeriaThat's what usually happens. You have a Jewel Sword. You dismantle it. You get four materials of what made it, and the sword disappears. It doesn't make sense to dismantle something, and that something still exists. If the Jewel Sword was made with a "Long Sword" as one of it's materials, you will have it back. But the Jewel Sword itself vanishes. If that means losing that unique piece of weapon that you can find only once... Well...it's your decision to do that. I know it sounds "not-very-good" but the whole idea of dismantling something is to make it vanish when you finish, and you receive it's parts in exchange.

Angel-Corlux one way the team could keep the current item craft format while making it look better is craft thorn whip x 1 and thorn whip x 1 crafted, would also match the previous menu where youre choosing how many of the item to craft since the amount is naturally listed to the right but this is really cool, the new icons for affinity/resistance look spiffy, the interface is very clean and elegant, sounds like theres gonna be a lot of little items to gather from enemies and with ng+ i should be able to hold off my ocd till game 2 if theres no xp freeze relic >P, and the portrait model could use a tiny bit of tweaking to sharpen up some of the textures but the little details like the cording on his shirt, the grommeted belt and the random little bookmarks sticking out of his shoulder journal are really nice touches

Enkeria I highly doubt they would use special items in recipe's and I seriously doubt they would use backer exclusive items in the recipes, since not all players will have these items. I was very surprised when creating a certain weapon in a certain game of a certain series required use of the Gergoth soul, an item players only received through the story once normally. I wouldn't worry about it.

Hey everybody!
Excuse the typo in the thread title, corrected now to 2018 lol.
As for not finding cool stuff in the game because crafting is going to be one stop shop for everything, no need to worry about that at all. You'll still be finding awesome stuff in the game, exploration and secret finding will be rewarded, and you should expect a mix of "finding stuff" and "making stuff".
Because of that I would very generically say that you shouldn't worry about HAVING to craft if you really don't want to. However, it's being put together to be super easy to do and fun to tinker with, so I personally feel there's no reason to miss out on making some awesome stuff just because you have to craft it. :3
As for porting, we're actually porting as the game is developed, this is to avoid the game feeling like "just a port" on any platform. So I wouldn't jump the gun and say the game is complete until you hear something from us officially.
I didn't quite catch what Enkeria was saying about losing a weapon if you craft it wrong, but if anyone has any other questions I'll do my best to get to them. Glad you all liked the update!

I didn't quite catch what Enkeria was saying about losing a weapon if you craft it wrong In many games with crafting, especially MMO, there is a chance for crafting to "fail". After a bar is loading or something, the ingredients are consumed, a clunky sound plays and instead of getting the resulting item you should, nothing happens.

Angel-Corlux Have you ever played Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow? In the game, to create a specific weapon, one must expend the soul of a boss type enemy that one encounters only a single time in the game. To get both the soul and the weapon, one would have to play the game over again in NEW GAME +. Will there be similar items expended through the use of the alchemy system? Ergo, special items that cannot be claimed again unless one were to transfer over save data to a new file? And what of backer exclusive items? I would imagine those won't be a part of the traditional alchemy system, since those are novelty items...

I get it differently. What i understood from what he said, was about the [apparently] dismantle option. IF the game has the option to break down an equipment to gather it's materials, if the equipment itself would vanish. Like, you have a "Beast Sword" and you break it to get Steel and Fangs. The "Beast Sword" itself would vanish. I said that is what i expect, if such option exists. Enkeria thinks the piece should stay. That's what i understood from what he said, at least.

Does it count if we take a portion of what you said wildly out of context, since technically you did say the game is complete if we can leave off that unwanted part relating to not jumping the gun and waiting to hear something. ... I'm still voting for Alfred to be one of the playable characters even if it's looking like other characters are going to be more likely to fill that role.

Angel-Corlux Pure Miriam @ikai About loosing the item, there are different ways to go about it. Different games, different approaches. 1. You want to salvage, the item breaks and are destroyed, you get little materials back every time, but never the actual weapon / item. 2. You salvage, the item breaks and there is a small change everything revert back to normal, before you ever upgraded that item to begin with, if there was no upgrade of that item when salvage it, it breaks and goes away. This to get more materials. 3. You have one material left and have saved it for item X, instead you pick item Y while being tired or not focused and lost that vital material, and wasted it on wrong item. Now you have two items which you do not wanna use. You salvage item Y but now you perhaps lost it or the material you needed for item X. What do you do? 4. You can't salvage anything, and are stuck with whatever you have upgraded. You can however break down the basic items you've found for additional materials. Which could be by mistake. These will be lost, but you could possibly, like materials on their own, grind/find or buy new ones at a shop. Bit tired, so I think I have missed a few other thoughts about items getting broken / lost or salvaged by mistake. All of these cases have solutions however. Just curious about the fineprint if things would go "horribly wrong". LeoLeWolferouxExclusive things for crafting is in many games, mostly when you buy Collectors Editions, DLC's etc. I know Diablo III did this, you got wings and skins, this by registering the game and you got recipes when logging in. I know GOG is DRM-free, but if anything, there might be a registration-code and with that you could perhaps get the Swordwhip and Pure Miriam costume/skin by registering. They can do how they please by this. If now there even is exclusive things for us.

EnkeriaThis is how i see dismantle / salvage. DISMANTLING OF AN ITEM YOU CAN CRAFT: You crafted "Rune Sword" by using Dwarf Rune, Steel, Dark Steel and Feather. When you dismantle it, you lose Rune Sword, and you get back all it's materials (Dwarf Rune, Steel, Dark Steel and Feather). DISMANTLING OF AN ITEM YOU CAN'T CRAFT: You have "Gram", a sword you got by a enemy drop. This sword cannot be crafted. When you dismantle it, you lose Gram and you get materials back (Steel, Cutting Blade, Wood and Blue Rock). Although you know the materials that can be used to craft this sword, you cannot craft it because it's rare / mystical / forged by ancient people / whatever.

Ah I see what you guys mean now, yeah I haven't seen "success factor" anywhere in the crafting so far, and to be honest I don't think that's part of the crafting mechanic at all. Will definitely let you know if this changes, but I think I would have seen something about that by now if it were in, so pretty safe at this point to relax about that.
As for dismantling / discarding, etc., I can definitely bring up the feedback to Iga about maybe having a warning or "lock" system to make sure you never accidentally destroy or throw away something super special you didn't mean to.
However, I also note that with the save system that's in the game, undoing a stupid mistake is never further than a save reload away, worst case scenario.
In that regard, it's pretty standard I feel, if I destroy a super upgraded special weapon in Dark Souls...it's gone. (damn you auto-save!) lol
So I would say be careful, but with saves you already have a safety net, and I will bring it up to Iga to see if he wants to put in a further safety net.
Enkeria as for your specific questions, while I can't answer to your heart's content, I would say not to worry too much, because Iga's crafting isn't designed to be punishing, the whole philosophy is about empowerment, fun and creativtiy. So while there will be rules and conditions, I wouldn't worry about discarding/using a random material at the beginning of the game and then finding out you needed it to craft the 'ultra-legendary sword of all things' later on (not even Dark Souls does that lol)
As for the finer details of the system like whether or not you can dismantle an item that can't be crafted etc.....well, hang in there, I can't reveal everything about this just yet.
