Although, this new character is interesting, I prefer to have male playable characters. Miriam is the main female protagonist and I think I will like her, maybe even as much as Shanoa. I could not stand Charlotte, though

I really want Zangetsu to be playable, he seems the most interesting character to me, of all the characters announced. I wish he would have his own story when playing as him.

While we still can't say for certain, as it obviously has yet to be confirmed, I'd say it's quite likely that Zangetsu will be made one of the two remaining playable characters alongside Miriam.

The update that introduced him even went so far as to detail what he uses to fight and slay demons (he's a demon hunter by profession).  In addition to his katana, he uses Ofuda magic. This would be very interesting to see aside from all of Miriam's Shard abilities, and whatever the third character will use.

I don't know about you all, but I'd rather play as any character of any gender if the game's plot and mechanics are superb.

I had the same level of fun incarnating Carl Johnson in GTA SA but also Lightning in Lightning Returns (the latter I resumed today).
It would really be a matter of character build after all, as I'd prefer a character with more survivability.
That said, I do play as all classes in MMOs but in a PvE perspective only (I don't play on a competitive level).

I wonder if I said it before, but I guess that the views some have on certain characters is tied to the image they'd give.
If they're just made for charming people and not much else, they'll usually be dissed by some, defended by others.
It's only natural, very much a societal thing.

Usually, the characters are imposed once you buy a game. Polls and community forums like this one might have an impact on how the game will be.
In the end, I don't bother too much speculating, since the developers have the final word on this.
I just hope the best choices are taken then (especially when it's about developers who want to fill great expectations) and once again, I have no worries right now.

I've made my stance on her character quite clear, if she turns out to be playable ... eh, I might give her a shot, but likely wouldn't all that often.

Then you can relate to this: The one MMO demo I tried included a 3rd person view and a weight slider, so I made my character with the curves of a pornstar and had to ignore people from the get go.

Not a lot of people seem to expect him to be playable, anyway.

Yeah, I would rather see Alfred. Even if everyone's assumption is correct and he's a Barlowe type villain, it'd be more interesting to play as him. You rarely get to play as any villain characters. But we don't actually know anything about him, so he could do anything at this point.
