Benjamin Kinney interviewQ: "If Super Bomberman R proves to be successful, can we count on seeing more classic Konami IP – such as Boktai, Goemon, and Suikoden – being revived?"A: "Regardless of Super Bomberman R’s success, we are always evaluating opportunities for all of our IPs."Then there's this... Best-selling Bomberman game in 20 years
Anyone here holding out any hopes for a new [non-pachislot] actual Castlevania game? On the Switch? ...Silent Hill?

Having been a fan of Bomberman since the SNES days, it warms me to know that Bomberman is doing so well in his return. I was so saddened when Bomberman got bit by the mini-game bug, and then he was just left to rot in Konami's basement, but I now have something related to the franchise to be happy about.
I haven't gotten R myself, and I'll get to that sometime down the line. (Also, perhaps 64 and The Second Attack could get onto the Switch's eShop?)

Words couldn't express my joy in seeing those games on the eShop. I still have the original N64 cartridge for the former.

Bomberman is a fun game, I used like it when I was a kid. I hope there will be more Silent Hill in the future, I liked the series a lot. As for Castlevania, I wish IGA would be a part of it again some day. Now I am just happy for Bloodstained and feel very satisfied.

Do they have different abilities/moves or is this more just a cosmetic thing?

Now they should give us a new 2D style castlevania game.

Eh if they revive anything, it'll probably be a 2d or handheld Metal Gear. Since both instances games were made outside Kojima-san.
Ghost Babel 2? Or wait, Snake's Revenge Deux.

It's by no means a bad game. Just making the observation that both good and bad have been done without Kojima-san.

Do they have different abilities/moves or is this more just a cosmetic thing? I don't think they've said either way. It's probably all cosmetic.

I like Bomberman, and it's really nice to see it back. I was really surprised when I saw it announced, I just couldn't believe it, it felt like a dream (a lot of the games coming to the Nintendo Switch are really making me happy in general, I like how there are so many indie games, many with physical releases, like Cave Story, and as such, there are a lot of good games, especially Metroidvanias, which is really good, most of the games on the Switch in general have a really nostalgic value to them, it excites me a lot, I keep imagining more about the future than what's already here, 2018 seems promising, Bloodstained alone already sold me, but the fact there are a whole lot of other games that caught my attention is also great).
Back to the subject of Konami.
If they actually revive the old IPs, that would be great.
Castlevania, Gradius, maybe Contra too? They have so many good IPs, it really makes me just joyful to imagine all the possibilities. The fact they're referencing their games is already something, just like they used to in the old days, when they're games were filled with references to each other. Oh well, if that happens, I can seriously get a little bit of hope even for the most unlikely things, like Goemon, Parodius and maybe even Getsu Fuuma Den. Who knows? It's stretching the line a lot, I know, but I'm just having some hope here. I mean... I can dream, right?

Well, what's frustrating about it is that the possibilities and talent to make those things happen are out there and they don't really have to lift a finger themselves (which they won't anyway): all there is to do is allow someone to use the licenses.
They're just not, and sitting on their IPs to build up safer revenue from gambling and mobile games. They seem to have really skewed ideas of what people want from them, too, which could be said of several big game companies now.
The new Bomberman is just one example of them letting a game escape the creaky old dungeon of their license vault, made by the Hudson people they bought up. When Konami themselves make something, we get projects like MG: Survive. I guess things are mostly still okay if you really like dance games. From what I've seen of the PES fanbase, they're not all that happy either.

Well, I mean, as long as they let the Hudson people keep working on actually making things we want to play instead of... WHATEVER the eff' Konami THINKS we want to play, things should be fine, I guess.
I get the impression Konami has, for the longest time, tried to figure out what people want and some devs have some ideas. The only problem is that the "captain of the boat" happens to be deaf, blind, and also very stupid.

Just found this article link detailing new characters for Super Bomberman R. Including Dracula from Castlevania, Zone of the Enders characters, and even characters from Tokimeki Memorial & Rumble Roses.

Simon, Vic Viper and Pyramid Head were also in it before. While it's nice, I wouldn't be too hopeful about the future just yet. But it's already something.

I should add that it was kind of surprising Snake wasn't included. Then again, Kojima's departure seems to have really hurt Konami's management... but they're also already making a sequel without his involvement so... dunno what's going on, really.

Cernex So you could say that the current status of the Metal Gear franchise is about as convoluted as some of the subplots within the series' story itself.
