How do each of the previous Castlevania games compare to Hollow Knight?
I am playing Hollow Knight GOG version and I die a lot.
I have never played a single Castlevania game ever in my life before.
Is Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night expected to be more difficult than Hollow Knight?
I also dislike the map system in Hollow Knight.
In Hollow Knight, you must find a map vendor to buy a map of the new area off of him.
However, the map vendor is located deep inside the new area (sometimes right before you fight the boss of this new area), so most of the time, when you are entering a new area, you must navigate the entire new area with no map at all.
This is incredibly frustrating.
Can anyone comment whether or not previous Castlevania titles' map systems are like this?
If previous Castlevania titles' map systems are like this, then I may not back B: RotN via the PayPal Slacker Backer campaign.
I plan to hold off on backing B: RotN until an NS physical port is announced.

IGA may not need a Kickstarter for B: RotN 2.
I want it funded from the profits of B: RotN 1 with no leaks of any kind.

Same whip with different materials? We already have tons of information about many aspects of Bloodstained: Ritual of the night. There is one element, through, that we are really lacking info. The forging system. As far as we know, Bloodstained will have a forging system, where you will be able to forge equipment, weapons and armor. Kickstarter page says: " It's not an Igavania without leveling, and Bloodstained will be no exception. In addition to the classic elements everyone’s come to expect, enemies in Bloodstained will drop a wide variety of items, materials, and magi-crystals necessary to create the items that will get you safely through Gebel’s castle."And it also says: "Crafting: As you explore, fight enemies, and complete quests you will gain experience and become more powerful, acquiring a variety of weapons along the way. Enemies will also drop materials you can use to craft new weapons and abilities using Miriam's training in alchemy."Could the eye represent a Magi-Crystal? We don't know much about how the forging will work in the game. Considering that, I ASK:
1) HOW DO YOU WANT THE MATERIALS TO WORK?
Each equipment could be forged by a definite set of materials (for instance, three different materials). Or maybe, some equipments would require more types. And each material is required only one unit, or more than one? Equipment can be "broken" into materials to be reused in other equipments?
You should be able to stack materials to boost is further similar to cooking in BotW.
2) YOU WANT THE SHOP TO SELL MATERIALS, WEAPONS AND EQUIPMENT?
This question was addressed in a old thread of mine, but it makes sense here, so, i'm repeating it. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night relies a lot on enemy drop (shards and materials, equipments and such). Even so, do you think the shop could seel materials, weapons and equipment? only materials? only equipment? Or the shop must be restricted to only basic healing items?
Do you not mean "sell"? Shops should not sell any materials, weapons, equipment, etc. If these items are sold in shops, it will make engaging in fights with tough enemies pointless.
3) WHAT ABOUT THE MAGI-CRYSTALS?
Magi-crystals are the name given to the crystals fused into Gebel and Miriam's body. And we know that enemies can also drop magi-crystals to be used for forging. So, how relevant magi-cyrstals are to forging? They add magic, or elements to the forged equipment? Or are just another piece of material with a cool name?
Magi-crystals should be used in forging.
4) CRAFTING ONLY AT SPECIFIC AREAS OR ANYWHERE?
Forging can work anywhere? the game's menu has a option to forge things right away? Or you prefer for the forging to work only at designated areas (maybe a furnace, the shop, Johannes...)?
Crafting should only work with a base where you have a furnace.
5) CONSUMABLE ITEMS BEING CRAFTED?
We already know that guns ammo will be crafted. You want the forging system to work only with equipment or you also want the ability to forge potions, other healing items (food? cooking?) and other types of consumables?
Food, potions, etc. should also be "forgable."
That's all folks! I added my comments in green.

I am also waiting for the Wii U vs. NS port before pledging.
I support the NS port because getting Wii U to run UE4 would take too much work.
The money and time should be spent on polishing the game.

As B: RotN will be my first IGAvania game, are familiars akin to BotW's Wolf Link (basically an AI controlled companion that auto attacks enemies for Miriam)?

Another concern to have is that most video game physical distributors either specialize in cartridge or discs but not both.
So I predict that a physical NS backer copy will experience a delay.

I think B: RotN should be on the NS because the NS natively supports UE4, can run games at 60 fps / 1080p resolution.

B: RotN will be my 1st Igavania game. You're a member of the forum, the slab of the internet where IGAvania fans rejoice and tell horror stories about their favorite Castlevania games, and you've never played any of them...? Oh my......your headstrong resolve to delve into another genre of game is...almost admirable. I'm assuming you've at least played Metroid... I have only played Super Metroid in the SNES. I never beat it because I was so intimidated by the several paths, backtracking, items, etc.

1. I think having 9 max items for each item is good.
B: RotN will be my 1st Igavania game.
Personally, I would not cheese this game.
2. I agree with experience degradation. You should be forced to seek stronger enemies to grind for experience.
3. There should be no items that can give you X-Ray vision. This would be too easy.
4. Jokes should exist.
5. A FF6 Ultima type weapon / skill in B: RotN should not exist. This would be too easy.
Despite B: RotN being my first Igavania game, I want this game to be the most difficult Igavania game up to date.

IGA will hold a poll and let the backers vote in mid-2018 or so.

www.gog.com/redeem/ZVSYRAFBFor those of you who missed it the first time, Constructor (for free) has been extended as long as you use the code (the code is on the new link). It is only valid for about 30 more hours or so.

I think a shard should be required to view damage numbers. A different shard should be required to view a boss's total current health bar, but this shard needs 5 normal rare shards to craft. Regarding that first sentence, it would seem that it is by default to view damage numbers, no shard required. The demo shows that, at least when playing as Miriam, damage per hit done to both enemies and the Boss ( Vepar) already show up as floating numbers. Perhaps it will be required in the final game to obtain a "relic" shard of-sorts to view damage, which would certainly be interesting. True, but I think the demo should be "user friendly." However, in the real final version, I think IGA should modify it so that we can give a particular shard a purpose. There should also be a shard that auto-identifies a regular enemy's weakness and a different shard that auto-identifies a boss's weakness.
