Additional shards also up the attack power a little. Definitely helps in Nightmare since your familiars don't gain exp either.

Any chance we could get a patch notes sticky? It's handy to know what changed(or in the case for those of us with the GoG release, version control in case we prefer the way something worked in a previous update).

Chef Miriam where you equip a frying pan as the main weapon, and any of the game's various food items as ammo. Normal attack swings the pan, command attack uses the food in the skillet to generate an effect(giant fireball for something spicy, for example).

How do you use these? I can't find a console to enter them in. There isn't one. You have to enter them as your save file name when starting a new game. One of them, NIGHTMARE, simply unlocks all the dificulty modes once entered and you can change it right back after that. The rest you need to keep on, start the game, and the designated item will be in your inventory.

I had the same thing happen back when the forum changed sites(that was like... a year and a half ago, maybe more?), but it simply resolved itself after a few days. If you haven't logged in since way back at the start of things, maybe the system ended up losing or pruning your account somehow, but that's just a guess.

It should be a fairly simple thing to add it to the archive under terms.

I've been really impressed by all the small details they crammed in(like the fairy and piano), all just to add flavor everywhere. I know it had been something a lot of people mentioned liking about the games when asked about the kinds of stuff we hoped to see in this one, but I'm still surprised at the amount. I also really like the implementation of food. Food items in games like this tend to always be "that thing you might use if you run out of real potions", but the first-time stat boost was a really good idea.

No exp at all, level 1 forever. If there's anything else special about it, I don't know. But, you can still get stat boosts from food/shards/gear/HP+MP Ups, so it's not all bad. Funnily enough the hardest part I had to deal with is clearing the intro, since all you have to work with is starter gear(and a Dullahammer helmet if one drops for you). You could get around this a bit by using one of the special names to start with a weapon(I think they're all 15 attack power, just a bit better than what's on the ship). Don't be shy about farming more shards to increase rank so the attacks will be stronger. To that end it might actually have the opposite problem; now to increase your chances of survival, you're going to want to grind for shards and better gear. It's kind of interesting looking at all the interlocking systems of character progression and the terrain of each room + the enemies in it. Even if Nightmare is an "extra" sort of mode, the game was very clearly built with it in mind.

That might have to be something added later. From what I understand these were all datamined, and that list is absolutely everything that's currently in the game.

There's a way to avoid that giant water beam, if that's what's killing you. Leave a seama alive. They block the beam and can be stunlocked by attacking them, so with a bit of timing you can hide behind one and keep it there until the beam passes over you.

Same here, I'm not super-certain what it does. My best guess is it activates certain features if a valid ID is entered. There are special backer items and so forth, but that might have all been rolled into IGA's Backpack? We'll need to get the official word from the devs.

You're going to need some additional software for that. Something like xpadder or joy2key, which allows you to bind mouse movement to keys. I'm not sure which the best choice would be in this case, since I've never needed to work around the lack of a mouse. You'll need to do a bit of research. Is something wrong with the trackpad on your MacBook?

The default KB+M setting for aim is the right mouse button. You have to hold it down, and then you can move the mouse around to aim her hand. In testing with changing the aim bind to a key, I still had to use the mouse to actually do the aiming while the key was held down. Couldn't find any way to remap that behavior. It might be a bit funky to get it to work with just the keyboard, since the aim function was likely made with a standard two-stick controller in mind(kind of the same way Owl Boy is a bit of a mess to play without sticks due to the intended aiming setup).

My download isn't quite done yet, but I'm going to play through on Nightmare from the start to circumvent the issue. I tend to religiously kill everything I see in games like this hoping for nifty tidbits to drop, so grinding is practically unavoidable for me.
Ok, reporting in after playing a while: You might particularly like Nightmare mode. It's not just harder, enemies give no exp and you have to strengthen yourself through shards and equipment, and keep a sharp eye on the patterns of attacks to avoid getting hit. I thoroughly recommend it if you want to avoid level-ups letting you overpower everything.

Ooh, nifty. I'm planning on running mostly whips, but from the looks of things there's a lot of really well-thought-out weapons with unique mechanics. Gonna be fun to see what sorts of combos you can pull off between special weapon functions and shard attacks.

Yeah, saw the tweet about that a bit ago. Overall it's gone pretty smoothly, with just a dash of the kind of funny chaos you tend to see during MMO releases.

Still haven't gotten a tracking email, but it's probably because mine is a bit weird using the workaround address the Post Office uses for P.O. box holders to receive packages in case a private carrier is used.

I'm personally hoping we see oldschool "bug worlds" from people getting out of bounds like would happen in some NES or Gameboy games, or the way everything from physics to modeling data are cloned/rearranged/start breaking down if you escape from the engine's area limits in the Elder Scrolls games. It's pretty trippy how you can find entire traversable environments wrought from unrelated code, and sometimes continue down the rabbit hole for hours before getting stuck, crashing, or popping back out somewhere in the normal structure of the game.

I'm a physical backer too, and I really like the look of the slipcase and overall package in general. It's going on the display shelf next to my MM9 NES box. This is going to be fun to finally get my hands on... seems weird to think it's already been three and a half years. Heck I'll even throw in CotM though it is really an Igavania-styled non-Igavania title. I really do need to replay that someday. Got it at launch and played it on the original GBA before even installing an Afterburner, so a lot of the visual everything was lost to me.
