Hey everyone, I hope you're all doing well and enjoying the beta! I have been playing the beta nonstop since yesterday, the gameplay is simply addictive and the game definitely has the potential to surpass previous Igavanias title. With that, I would like to talk about my impressions and suggest things that I believe it will help make the game better for the final product, let's get started! Gameplay:
Let's start talking about the combat first, the combat is really fun and the weapon variety is what makes it even more addictive, can't wait to see what the final product has in store. The command combos are something that caught me offguard, they're not only useful, but very flashy and fun to look at, the shards are really good and each one gives you an advantage in some situations, some are more useful than the others at times which requires you to switch every now and then.. speaking of switching, this is where the only problem in the combat comes in. You only have one weapon slot and no second shards slot (Slot A and B like in the previous Igavanias) it really bothered me that you can't equip a second weapon and you will have to go to the character menu every time you want to change your weapon or shards. Also another thing that made me a bit upset is the backdash weapon canceling, it got nerfed to the point that you will be at disadvantage if you use it, you can only cancel the weapon attack once then get locked in the animation for good 4 frames, leaving you invulnerable. However, something new got implemented, not sure if it's intentional or not but I will showcase it later.
Story:
I enjoyed what I saw from the story so far, I think Miriam feels very human like and they did great job with making us feel how Johannes is like an older brother for Miriam, like when you visit him he asks her if she eats well and that little thing has a big impact when it comes to creating a bond with the characters, but I can't say much about the story since we only got some bits of it, but I like the mythological setting in this game. There is one thing that is illogical though, for example when you revisit the Galleon, you can still see Zangetsu sailing to the castle while he's already in the castle.. which is very weird and awkward if you ask me, just simply remove him from the background after you see him once. Cool touch, but if done right.
Voice acting:
The voice acting is really great, especially with the talents behind these voices. I was so worried that Zangetsu would sound very much like Snake, making me see Zangetsu as Snake/Big Boss rather than Zangetsu himself, but David hayter nailed it there, he just sounds perfect there. My only problem with the voices is that Miriam's fight quotes are very loud that I had to lower the voices volume from the configuration menu, just lower it please and of course, when you obtain a shard.. that gets repatitive quick, implementing a different screams that would play differently and random would fix this repatitiveness.
Music:
The music in this game is amazing indeed, just what I would expect from Yamane-san and the sound team, nothing much to say here other than great job. Would love if the village has music though.
Graphics:
When it comes to Igavanias, they're never about graphics, but they rather make sure you feel the dark gothic feelings in his games. While the graphics are not bad, there are some locations that look great, some aren't that good. For example the Graden of silence backgrounds are white, lacking the depth of the other backgrounds, you can still see the mountains.. but they're covered with white that definitely don't look like mist. Looks ugly if you ask me. The area itself looks gorgoeus, ruined by the bland textured backgrounds though. Love the red moon room. The character textures are ok, Miriam could get more anti aliasing in the menu though, FX in this game looks very cool and I would love to see them adding more, like add some mist here, fire there and we're good!
Finishing word:
At some point before E3, some doubt started to crawl inside my brain for few weeks whether if this game will be good or not, all we needed was this kind of demo to wash that worry away. Bloodstained: Ritual of the night will be the game we all have been waiting and it definitely has the potnetial to blow the previous Igavanias away, just some refining to the edge and you're good to cut down your competitor. People can argue about the graphics since it's literally the only thing people can complain about, but if one thing is "average" the other stuff are top notch and keeps the fire of this promise lit.

Different portraits showing the character actual expressions will do, not only it will fix the problem of showing the zoomed in models but it will fix the lip syncing problem too. I imagine character portraits won't cost much too, only draw one when a character is mad, happy, crying, smiling and neutral

According my contact with Square Enix and Sony, the Final Fantasy brand is not banned, neither published to the region. Dissidia could be a different matter, it's a mess if you ask me since everyone will give you a different answer in that case.
I just received a reply from Playstation Middle East and they have no information about Curse of the Moon rating in the region or banning info, so it is safe to assume that the game is not out for some countries yet. (I doubt if they have any information about the game itself, anyways to ban it)

Arikado The game sales count on this region would be heavily hurt if a certain games gets for sure, but it is beyond our control I'm afraid.. so the only thing we can do is just to send our complains to Sony and Sony will handle it to the information department. Banned =/= Not published, they're having issues publishing the game for a certain region, but it is not banned.

Arikado God of War was banned due to the paranoia created by the older games, so they started banning anything related to that brand. I sent a message to one of the Playstation Middle East guys and hopefully they will reply to me as soon as possible! If you want my personal opinion or suggestion regarding this, I would suggest you to create an alternative PSN account and choose different region. You can download the game from the alternative account and still be able to play it on your personal, main account. About your friends being worried that they will not receive their Collectors box. Rest assured, banned games can be imported just fine (in case Bloodstained is banned) and for the European codes, like I said previously, they can just create an alternative European accounts.. let's say UK accounnt and you download the Game/DLCs from it. You will still be able to return to your main account and be able to play the game and it's downloadable content just fine. Edit: Just found out that the Final Fantasy games are not publishing their newer games to the region and they are not banned.

Regarding the censorship for games that has other religion symbols is not true (it was a thing in the past, like.. PS3 genre?). Releasing the game to a certain region depends heavily on the publisher, but not Sony Middle East or the General commission for audiovisual media. Only games with explicit content, overly gore (Mortal Kombat for example) and games that has a direct offense to the specific region. I will ask Sony ME to double check too, because all of the Castlevania games are already on the Saudi PSN, makes no sense for Bloodstained to not be in.
I personally use an American PSN account and buy prepaid cards from Amazon or digital shops, because they always release the games 3 weeks or even months later in the region. Has nothing to do with censorship.
PS: The game is not available in Brazil yet, It's definitely all on the publisher.

Greetings everyone!
I got Curse of The Moon the moment it became available in Japan, so I decided to go ahead and pick it from the Nintendo Eshop for the Nintendo Switch. I have played the game for 3 hours now and the gameplay is just something that hooks you up right from the start with it's very responsive controls and catchy 8 bit tunes. The level designs are very simple, but diversed and this is what really matters here. In the beginning of the game, you start playing as Zangetsu, he is the basic well rounded character, with an average weapon reach and has the highest HP between the 4 characters. Miriam has the longest weapon range with highest jump and her slide which can make her reach places the other characters can't, her HP is also the second highest after Zangetsu's. Alfred, the character we were all worried about being overpowered and the game breaker.. but he is actually far from it, his normal attack is very short, weak and has a very weird attack angle that it will miss a lot of times. His special attacks consumes too much sub weapon points, so you will have to use his abilities at your own risk. Gebel is so much fun to play as. His normal attack has a decent reach, but don't really work as good on ground enemies, but super effective against flying enemies and has a decent damage as well, his bat flying abilities consumes sub weapon points by 1 every second. That's it for my impression introduction, but there is nothing that has no pros and cons.. so let me talk about that for a moment, but I will start with the pros.
Pros:
- Beautiful retro graphics mixed with both 8 bit and 16 bit for bigger enemies.
- Controls feel very responsive, controlling the character have never been this fun with this kind of an action 2D game.
- The game is very well balanced and makes every character useful in their own way.
- The diversity in boss battles are pleasantly surprising
- Soundtracks are simply amazing, 8 bit Galleon Minerva is beautiful!
- Different modes after beating the game
Cons:
- I mentioned that the graphics are good for a retro game style, but sometimes the character melds into the background and makes it hard for you to tell where the character is because of their color pallete.
- on the nintendo Switch, if you switch from docked mode into portable, the controls will stop responding and you will have to restart the game for them to work again. I hope they patch this soon!
- Black borders on the sides and game is not taking the whole screen, aspect ratio can easily be fixed with future patches too. Might be just a Nintendo Switch thing.
- Standard run is way too easy, until you unlock the extra modes
That is pretty much it, Curse of the moon is a very nice gift from Inti create and Artplay to the backers if not almost too generous, but if you are someone who is purchasing the game from digital stores you will get what you pay for, more than what you expect from a $10 game. The game is a nice spin-off title and I would if this become a whole serious, not to replace the main Ritual of the night format, but along aside with it like it's sibling, because if they make a second Curse of the Moon and become it's own series.. I'm 200.6% sure it will get all the support from not only Bloodstained fans, but retro gaming fans in general.

Great update! looking at how they're ending the survies next month got me bumped how close we are getting. The side quest names caught me offguard, I was in a coffee shop while reading this and I uncontrollably started laughing because this is most definitely one of the best easter eggs I have ever seen!
Let's talk about the mini game, I know that many people will be disappointed with the decision they have taken regarding the game by changing it from a prequel title into something like a spin-off. The mini game would have featured Zangetsu as the protagonist character and from what we have gotten so far, we can already tell that Zangetsu went through a lot in his past which can't be justified or shown in one "mini" prequel title so maybe they just decided to keep that prequel story for a potential upcoming full title or an expansion because we live in an age where a game can be many games at the same time!

Eh, well this isn't a remake or remaster though. Could possibly still be something else coming I guess Maybe it's the "return" that person was telling us about, he could have been wrong about it being a remake/remaster. I was expecting anything, even an energy drink.

Happy update day everyone, I hope you are all doing good and enjoying the day. Two weeks ago, IGA in Saudi Arabia at gaming event held in the city of Dammam called "Gamer's Con SA". The event was organized by True-gaming and sponsored by the general entertainment authority, so it was the golden chance for me and my brother to finally meet the person who created a big part of our childhood and makeus the gamers we are today. The interview was recorded by my brother and later edited and translated by me so if you notice any grammer errors, bare with me, I hope you enjoy the video! Note: Mr.Alex mentioned the "Sequel" as if it's something they have confirmed, but IGA san was talking about the potential sequel of Bloodstained.
