On 1/25/17 Igarashi emailed a correction to the Runic Forger update. I'm a bit late, but the original post is now properly updated. Nothing major to report, just a small clarification regarding guns. It turns out the elemental effects are assigned to the bullets instead of the guns themselves. So you could hypothetically have the same gun firing a variety of bullets with different attributes. Enkeria Gin raised an interesting point regarding developer feedback and images. I can't speak for the other contributors, but I have received some limited feedback on my monster proposals. I haven't been asked to sign any nondisclosure agreements, but I still think it's important for us to respect the process and keep those discussions private. At least until Mana says otherwise... As for images... I haven't sent the team any concept images yet. All of my proposals are detailed in writing, and the negotiations are still ongoing. Once we reach an agreement, I'll begin sending some concept images, and I'm sure the development team will respond accordingly. Personally, I think it's ok for the content contributors to share their own images, but I'm not sure about sharing any concept art from the development team. Maybe Mana has an opinion on this? REDtheBEAST neff Torg Thomas have any of you sent off any images yet? I sent my initial feedback after Mana contacted me, but I have not received a response of any kind. I must say i'm a bit disappointing with the communication regarding the upper tier rewards. I had been told directly during the campaign that I would get to communicate with the dev team regarding my concept, but it appears that simply is not the case for Hounds of Hell contributors... In fact I never directly received my content contributor survey to begin with. It was Mana who reached out on this forum based on my post history to ask if I was going to participate. The deadline had come and gone and only because of Mana was I able to learn that I nearly missed my opportunity. For the amount of money spent, and the small pool of people who were able to donate at the upper tiers, I feel a better effort could be made to communicate with backers like myself. For all I know there have been follow up emails, but since I never received the first one I can only assume I won't receive any additional direct communications. I just hope they do my pet justice in-game. (After all, that was the whole reason I contributed to begin with)

It is the best one posted in this thread IMO. I hope I can offer you a little reassurance and insight. First, Iga comes off as a very calm, collected and open person when it comes to creative whimsy. You can see that in the following youtube video, which runs like a director's commentary. It's a Dev's Play vid of SOTN with Iga along for the ride. Many times throughout the video he describes how a programmer or artist was given the opportunity to be creative with whatever piece of the castle they were working on. Second, I am also a high tier backer, (secret room) and I'm not getting any more team communication than other backers. While that isn't comforting, I think we have to reassure ourselves that they are just extremely busy. It has also been said that there is a lot of careful consideration of our ideas behind the scenes. That simply means longer spans in communication and I believe we just need to be patient.

Even a quick canned response with the general idea of "We've received your input and are in the process of working with your submission ..." would do a lot to point that things are happening and in progress on their end.

Hounds of Hell, (or Kitties from Hell in Thomas' case) is not included in my tier, but I did get a message like that from Mana after one of my three submissions.

A lot of places, like Yahoo mail, gmail, etc. often put some important stuff in there automatically, it's happened to me But if so, the staff is working on it and you should get someone to get in touch with you soon--if someone hasn't already gotten back to you!

I have checked my spam folder many times yes. I get all of the updates from fan gamer, but I have not received any direct communication other than what MANA forwarded to me.
I am sure they are doing their best to get everything sorted. It's wonderful that we have this community to come to and help each other. Cheers all!

Hi all, I'm translating the feedback I got from the team on the enemy designs (Demon Summoner & Cache of the Occult). These will include the team's thoughts and changes . Tier backers, please check your emails this weekend! Sketches from the art team will come shortly afterward. Please do not share these artworks when you receive them (for NDA purposes). Thomas Hey Thomas! I will definitely check into that. Right now we haven't received all the pet requests so when we do receive them, we will send an email for the next step. I'll make sure that is sent through. I may do some tests if necessary. Next step is probably the actual design of the pet. Thank you for being considerate and being part of this wonderful community.

I'm just posting to mention I received the team's feedback for the Demon Summoner part of my tier. It is clear that the team put a lot of thought into it, which makes the long wait worth it. Flawless translation too. We are in good hands.

All portrait requests have been sent! Content contributors, please send a photo of yourself (doesn't have to be yourself, as long as you have permission or ownership). The faster we get them, the faster I could start working on them *hinthint* . Remember to check your emails. Second wave of weapon feedback has been sent as well.

Has anyone heard any news on the Hounds of Hell contributors?
I'm still waiting in Limbo with no word besides what Mana has posted on these forums. Was nice to hear the portraits were seeing movement, but considering the HoH tier is multiple thousands more expensive, I once again am confused and concerned as to the status of my contribution. Weapons are on their 2nd pass of feedback and HoH hasn't even officially started as far as I know.

I started sending my submission drawings during the night.(I changed my weapon last minute) I made a fanart with the weapon I had designed, though im not sure if sharing drawings I submitted is allowed yet. Some clarification would ease my worries on the fanart.

My content negotiations are ongoing. Although I have a general idea regarding my weapon and enemy designs, some specifics still need to be worked out. As for my secret room, that's another matter entirely. I'm standing at this strange and unexpected fork in the road. I'm not really sure what path we're going to take yet. Functionality is very important to me, and right now I'm testing the limits of what can (or can't) be done. Hopefully I'll have some news to share later this next week.

I started sending my submission drawings during the night.(I changed my weapon last minute) I made a fanart with the weapon I had designed, though im not sure if sharing drawings I submitted is allowed yet. Some clarification would ease my worries on the fanart. Sharing your idea is fine, as long as you don't share what we give you (if this is for the weapon, these include concept arts). Some details also suggest how weapons work in the game so we would like you to keep that a secret/surprise for everyone when they play . Keep in mind that some of the initial designs could change in the final game (of course, with approval). This is a collaboration with the Bloodstained team and you, the designer. We share what works with our game, what doesn't, and we'll try to work it out. Don't be afraid to be ambitious. We will turn down requests if we think it breaks the game balance (which may be discouraging, but don't be), but we will include new ideas if it works. Also, I apologize if some of you are getting slow responses from the emails. I'm the only person who could reply back to you with IGA's comment (translation included) with dozens of emails. If you are a content contributor who needs a quick response that does not necessarily have to be from the man himself, send me a private message here! You can catch me when I'm online.

Time for me to chime in.
I'm a bit embarrassed that I've become somewhat of a shadow mod over this past year. I have 6 kids, I work 50-60 hours weekly, and I've given almost all of my spare time to developing my backer content for Bloodstained.
I've updated my content descriptions on the Original Post, but I'll comment here regarding my ideas that had to be abandoned... You may remember that I offered multiple proposals for each content category. I took this approach to avoid serious impasses and uncomfortable compromises. It's not healthy to "get married" to any particular idea. I paid good money to participate, but I respect the fact that I'm still a guest at Igarashi's table --honored and privileged by this once in a lifetime opportunity.
--Weapons-- The Power Purse had to abandoned due to complications with the growing aspect of the purse. The main idea was that purse needed to grow larger and larger as Miriam filled it with Gold. This required not only multiple models for the purse, but some unique animations as well. It just didn't fit the established framework. Too much extra work for the team and ultimately unfair to other Runic Forgers.
The Bloodlust had to be abandoned because the whips's long range undermined the "Dark Metamorphosis" concept. The Bloodspatter would be too far away for Miriam to absorb it. The team also informed me that a similar concept was already in development...
--Monsters-- The Undead Executive was abandoned very early. Although I loved the idea, It never took shape the way I had hoped. The team really didn't have much to say --and the more I worked on it, the less inspired I felt. No regrets leaving this one behind...
The Easter Bunny had to be abandoned for a number of reasons... First there were complications transforming the Cute Bunny into an Evil Rabbit from the deepest pits of Hell. Naturally there would need to be 2 character models, each with their own distinct behaviors pushing up against clear limits set by the development team. This might have worked with a few modest compromises, but the Easter Bunny also needed to serve a clear purpose --real Easter Egg content. I suggested a wide variety of Castlevania-themed Easter Eggs for the Bunny to carry. I also suggested an "Easter Egg Hunt" crystal shard for the Bunny to drop. I felt very strongly that Easter Egg content was necessary to justify the Easter Bunny's inclusion. In the end, these ideas simply overstepped my privilege.
--Secret Room--- The Developer Room was proposed knowing full well that it was impossible... It needed too much space, too many assets, and too many functions... Oh well, maybe someday...
The Concert Hall had to be abandoned because the proposal was beyond my privilege. Even if all the musicians agreed to participate, developing and animating all of their character models would be a very big job. At the end of the day I'm privileged to be making a room. New character models aren't part of the deal, and I respect that.
The Sexy Bath was perhaps my favorite content proposal, but it was beyond my privilege to get Miriam remodeled for a bikini. I never thought to ask, but looking back maybe there were some character concerns about this idea... Miriam's an orphan --has she ever enjoyed or desired such luxury?
Now this gets a little bit complicated... The development team *wanted* to proceed with the Sacred Chapel, but I cut them off when I learned just *how* they wanted to use it. There was a misunderstanding about the nature of the secret room, and I want to explain, but I really can't... There's still too much up in the air right now...
And finally we come to the character room... Miriam's Room... The team was willing, but I just couldn't proceed the way they suggested. Too many compromises needed to be made, too many sacrifices... So I had to let it go... I'm very pleased however that some of the features I suggested will be appearing elsewhere in the game.

Hey, you're doing a good job as mod, don't worry if real life is keeping you busy Any support is useful, I'm sure Mike and the rest of the team would agree. That said, I'm definitely glad for this insight into content creation! It seems like the team is giving everyone's ideas a lot of thought and really taking everything seriously--that's the kinda stuff I like to see! Even if there's a lot of discussion and planning to be had, and even if you have to give up on a lot of ideas, it just means that the ideas we will end up seeing are gonna be even better!

I was hoping they would do the bath for Miriam, but I can see why it had to be abandoned. Same with the other weapons and enemies. The weapon with the luck attribute will be fun to have. I think the vampire was your best enemy idea, so glad they are doing that for you.

Thanks for the heads-up, but i'm a Hounds of Hell contributor. =) ... Still waiting. Hi Thomas! I'm guessing from this post, you haven't received our previous email. I've changed the email setting and sent you another email regarding your tier! Let me know if you have received it or not. If not, we could definitely try a different method. To all Hounds of Hell tier contributors, we have not gone to the next step since we are still waiting for all requests. This is just one person and he/she may need to forfeit their contributing rights (we are passed the deadline). Once we decide to continue onward, we will send everyone their concept design based on their pet. Thanks for your patience!

Considering your hint, I can't be the only one that's hoping you're also contributing to the background art or some design- Stuff like this - Your art style would be perfect for populating the castle like the above images. I know you do enough already but a person can dream right?

Yeah I really liked the backdrops in Symphony of the Night. That together with the music made up for some really long views on those paintings. Good place to actually take a break or to just relax.
I hope we see more of these places, or similar. And I think there will be plenty of gorgeous areas to explore and to actually witness with a glass of wine to replenish your health with.

So I FINALLY got a response about the status of my content contribution and I have to say... I'm a bit underwhelmed. I have been an active and positive member of this community from the very beginning. Contributing at one of the higher end tiers, having conversations directly with Ben Judd during the campaign and even getting a response from IGA about the story of my cat and how I decided to memorialize him in the game. I have patiently waited for my turn to communicate with the dev team and have my pet introduced as an enemy. I put together a fun and interesting design pitch which, although I did not expect to be fully implemented, I did hope would at least be acknowledged. At the very least some indication that my efforts and personal stake in not only the game, but the creator and his team would be recognized. Instead, I was told this concept was the design direction... I... eh... =( I have to be frank, this feels extremely low effort. There is no design description, the concept art is clearly rough and uninspired (Just put some horns on it and shove it in a wall) and the only request from the dev team is for me to give a name and a description based on this artwork. "We have finally designed your pet as an enemy demon after considering the game balance. This is how your pet will appear in front of Miriam. From here, we would like you to name your enemy pet and create a description for it." I want to be optimistic, but this is not what I was expecting. Especially knowing that similar tiers got to give actual design input on their creations. At the very least I would hope they would describe what the thought behind this because this is not the attention to detail and fan appreciation the campaign ran on... This really feels like a last minute attempt to fulfill an obligation. Am I crazy? What do you guys think?

Did they get your description? Like, have they read it then? If yes, then just ask them some questions what you wonder, perhaps they can give you some insight. Not fun that you feel underwhelmed. Was it 3 pets / backers in that tier in total?

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT. Your cat is the Rondo of Blood behemoth and you don't like it? I'm so jealous right now lol AHHHHHHHHHHHH that's so sick.
Dude, wow, this concept isn't last minute or without thought. It fits the concept of "Kamikaze" (at least to the name) perfectly too, if it keeps to something like what that enemy did in the Dracula X games...which I'm just now realizing, after I was excited about it lol. I say this because what the behemoth does is, he charges at you head first through walls with his horns and doesn't stop until he actually takes himself out by ramming its head into a wall and breaking its horns/head apart.
It's literally a kamikaze monster. That's awesome wow lol
But ANYWAY, what my reply was going to be haha, was that since this indeed was Hounds of Hell, your input was going to be limited comparative to Demon Summoner, who had full control over design, attack patterns, etc. This was supposed to just be a photo of a pet turned into a monster as they saw fit, but even seeing that...I mean, you got quite a deal here. That's an iconic Castlevania monster and one of the coolest ones I didn't expect to come back. It MIGHT not be the new behemoth, but it damn sure looks like it to me. siiiiick lol
