Mana has full reign over the official Facebook page, which hasn't been used in a while. What would you like to see from it? Personally, I prefer Facebook groups as anyone can share a picture with everyone or strike up a conversation. With that comes moderation and notifications though. There are several Facebook pages and a good group out there already I am active in. This opens up people to expose there real identity to the world though. How would you feel about an official Facebook group? What are the pros and cons compared to everything we have now?

Well of course the facebook page should post current events going on with the kickstarter updates such as what the community has voted on,IGA showing us some cowboy moves,Possibly show off your podcasts, once every few days show off some community artwork, talk about throwbacks to some of the other earlier IGA games
Honestly its a good idea because it starts to help get people involved who did not donate to the kickstarter and can help gauge interest down the line and hype the game up for when it gets finally released,of course i'll always state that those who donated to the kickstarter campaign would get a priority in their voice heard in the case you want to involve others in any events

It is, for better or for worse, the primary means of communication on the Internet now. Forums themselves have been mostly replaced by FB groups/pages, a lot of people even use Facebook pages and shares for their main source of news...which is awful, but that's how it is. Forums are superior for what we're doing here, however: organized discussion with a purpose, rather than the flood of (nearly unsearchable/hard to archive) casual banter that comes with a Facebook group.
Sharing my identity hasn't bothered me for a long time now lol. I even have a pic of myself as my avatar...but yeah, as I got older I came to realize the Internet really isn't -that- scary, in that way at least. I understand some are big on privacy and I certainly respect that, but it's just not a big deal to me. Yeah, hey I'm an average looking white dude with glasses. I think people actually knowing more about me diminishes my chances of being interesting enough for them to stalk/attack me lol
Anyway, Pros: For exposure, and for fans to stay easily engaged with one another, it's a good way to go. Everyone is already there, and a -lot- of people are just going to passively like Bloodstained just because of what it is. From that side, it's all win-win. It's the most likely way to reign in new interest as well. Just a Bloodstained presence being connected to their daily Internet browsing will go a long way in building up the brand slowly.
Cons: It's more work...for someone, or several someones. Interestingly enough, though anonymity isn't a factor and they can't hide behind usernames, there are going to be mean and argumentative people because it's still the Internet. With anything getting big comes more moderation, derailing and a bunch of dumb memes. Facebook is 95% nonsense. However, people that would be into Castlevania games are less likely of a demographic to be spammy and troublesome, I think. And lastly, as I said, it's very difficult to cleanly archive or search for pertinent information in a Facebook group. It's just kind of a casual back and forth, more or less.
For more in-depth engagement or Bloodstained suggestions...or just in general for anything important, we would direct them to the forums. Updates to the page would usually be reposts of KS updates, maybe with some occasional update-updates that we get from Mana here posted as well. It would be a decent format for a Q&A, contests, polls with a less hardcore fan reach, etc.
In summation, yeah. Let's do it if people are up for making it happen.

I'd have to agree with a lot of what Vampire and purifyweirdsoul said. Facebook is a necessary evil for pretty much anything's marketing, branding, and promotion nowadays, but I'd like to see it used for reaching out the general crowd and lighter discussion.
I started following the Bloodstained Facebook page during the Kickstarter campaign and that became my main source for updates and announcements, but completely forgot about it until a few days ago when it popped up as a suggested page when I was searching for something else. The marketing-oriented part of my brain says something really, really needs to be done about that in order to avoid falling off people's radar, especially since there have been some Kickstarter projects I backed and forgot about entirely.
As for what should be posted on it, I'm thinking along the lines of: -providing links to the updates on Kickstarter instead of re-posting and re-formatting them for Facebook. (e.g. "Update 37: Miriam goes to Camp" is now live on Kickstarter <insert URL here>). -announcements when new poll/survey emails go out and when they're about to expire -"update updates" like the ones Mana, Steve, and Dan mention in the shoutbox -links to new interviews and articles -links to old interviews, campaign streams, and Ask IGAs people may have missed out on -occasional reminders of the features/stretch goals that will be in the game -fun stuff from around the office (things involving donuts, videos like the one involving IGA and the umbrella that was mentioned a few days ago, boring stuff with a tiny detail about Bloodstained in the background) -cheats/codes once Bloodstained comes out -contests -community podcast updates -hand-picked fanart -notable/cool/well-made gameplay videos from fans once the beta comes out (e.g. speedruns, glitches, fun stuff people wouldn't normally do) -directing traffic to the forums for heavier discussions or forum events/games.
I also have a list of things to "please don't" for the Facebook page. -Please don't post memes or try to drum up likes or shares (e.g. "like for yes, share for no", "share this if you backed Bloodstained"). I have a feeling the average Bloodstained fan will be part of an older demographic that either won't be interested in, or will be totally sick of, things like that. -Please don't write social media or Kickstarter updates in first-person. It feels unprofessional since whoever is managing the page is supposed to represent a company, game, or brand. It also annoys me greatly when people write "I" on social media pages for things I'm not a super hardcore fan of and I have no clue who they are. It's better to write in third-person. But if it's easier to write a particular post or status update in first person than third person, take some time to introduce yourself (e.g. "This is your community manager, Mana!" or "This is Mana, your community manager!") so general fans will know who's writing. -Please don't use cutesy-wutesy ASCII emoticons. ^__________^ -Please don't spend more time than necessary dealing with jerks when answering questions or explaining why things about Bloodstained are the way they are. That time can be better spent helping other people.

The official page should just post the updates when available and post fan created stuff like Artwork, Cosplays and such.
On my page i get messages from people telling me that they love the page and sometimes they like to share why. Some of those reasons would be me posting about updates quickly, posting fan art, talking about Bloodstained related topics, Talking about Castlevania (Although I understand not doing this one in particular), avoid begging for likes and not posting anything deemed clickbait.
Maybe post asking for opinions on specific polls. Such as the shaders, if the Facebook page was active perhaps the page could have asked people what they thought about it.

Would be good to get Mana's input on the matter. That Facebook page has 25k subscribers. One or two updates could mean more people finding out about Bloodstained which equals sales.

Bloodstained is a similar story so it wasn't as big for some people.

Thanks for the input everyone! As much as I would like to get my hands on the Facebook account, I do not have control over it just yet. I've requested the login information so we, as ArtPlay, will be in control of it soon. Hopefully we will be able to update it with links to the KS updates, interviews, related articles, and fan creations. I think Goobsausage summed up the plan pretty well.

Only one thing that comes to mind is that comments made by people on facebook, youtube, neogaf and such should not be taken too seriously. On facebook for example, it is easy for anyone to post just because of the boredom or hate, non-backers and maybe people who want other kind of games. People who care about Bloodstained come to the community forum, many of them may just be reading posts. Other backers check the kickstarted page and comment on the updates. So, facebook could be great for spreading news and promotion, but the comments section cannot be taken seriously and as something relevant.

A new "Koji Igarashi" account just posted in the Castlevania fan group about update 38/39. Here's the account: Koji IgarashiThere's a "Bloodstained Official Account" subheading under the name. I don't think this is Mana, from the English. Kind of odd. The post itself: here
Edit: As far as I can tell, that post was deleted. Maybe the mods there were suspicious as well.

I've showed the facebook account to IGA and we confirmed that it was not his account. He has his own personal facebook account and we have an official Bloodstained facebook page made by Fangamer. This account looks generally harmless but we have reported the account just to make sure there's no future confusion.

Mana is running the Facebook page now! Hooray! There's been over 1400 likes, 157 shares, and 69 comments within the first 3 hours on the latest post. Having a 1:10 ratio of shares to likes feels like a big thing given how many people usually just skim over updates.
