Article from The Hollywood Reporter.Well... this sucks. David Bowie was one of my favorite artists across any medium. His entire life felt like a giant piece of performance art. He's made some great songs and just released a new album, had multiple personas like Ziggy Starudst and the Thin White Duke, starred in the cult classic "Labyrinth", was a bad guy on "Venture Brothers" (even though he never provided his actual voice on the show), worked on David Cage's first game "Omikron: The Nomad Soul", filed a lawsuit against Vanilla Ice, and did voice and musical work on Spongebob Squarepants. I'm grateful for everything he created and the beautiful weirdness he brought into the world. I'm gonna miss him.

As I said over at the CVD, it is a shame. Still, it could have been worse. At least he died naturally and with his family, and after such a wonderfully accomplished life, at least he definitely won't be forgotten. So let's honor the time he spent with us by listening to his music!  |

As soon as I woke up, my wife told me and I came here to share the news. I'm glad someone cares enough to have done it before me. I love Labyrinth, and it was a great introduction to Bowie's music. I've only heard one preview song off Black Star, but I intend to get the whole album.   |

When I was a kid, I'd always beg to watch Labyrinth, to the point that my family would be sick of it. I really liked that movie. I had no idea it was such a cult classic until decades later, feels good to know.
But it's good to see some stars go with dignity like him instead of the old drunk/drug/suicide way. /respect

I'm not as familiar with his works like others here but I knew enough to realize we lost another great one. Which is saddening because more and more now I hear of great people passing on, and it feels like current generation doesn't have people that can fill their shoes. Makes me feel like an old man and I'm only 31 damn it!
Like my friend put it: "Year's off to a great start, ain't it."

Actually in the case of David bowie, I think lady gaga kinda has the 'fill his shoes' base covered pretty darn good as far as 2 different people can do short of being an impersonator. |
