And now for something completely different.... I enjoy drinking tea. Part of that enjoyment also includes partaking in the wide variety of pottery available for tea-related activities. There is a town in Mie, Japan called Iga. Pottery from there is known as Iga-yaki (yaki is a term that often gets tacked on for pottery (and food) that mostly means baked, or cooked). The spellings of the two Iga in Japanese are completely different, but they use the same sounds in English. In any case, now every time I hear about Iga-yaki, I think of Iga-san taking up pottery. I wonder what such creations would look like?? For those interested in seeing what Iga-yaki looks like, check out this place as an example.
