I would like it if there could be an included compendium of things such as monsters, bosses, characters.
For monsters perhaps with them in their animations, show their drops (if there is a drop system), how many you have killed and even perhaps how many times they have killed you in your adventure.
For Characters perhaps a short (or even detailed) bio/background of them as you meet them so that we can get a better understanding of them and their relations to each other.
I would love for us to be able to access the music in the game as we unlock it. Perhaps a jukebox compendium that unlocks music as we go through the areas so if we need to background the game from time to time or just want a breather. we can listen to a song or songs we enjoyed from the experience thus far.
This all could be tucked away in a system menu somewhere like the old PS1 RPG compendiums of old were as to not clutter the normal menu system.

A journal, you say? A compendium/journal sounds like a good idea. I remember other IGA games having them and I don't see why one couldn't be included. I'd also like to see it update itself if the player defeats monsters a certain way. For example, defeating them with certain elemental weapons could add information about weakness or resistance to fire. I also think it'd be nice if the information carried over through New Game+ or when playing with different characters.

I would think a detail like this should be one of the identifying features of an Igavania and its one that never hinders the experience because it's optional. I hope they carry it over to Bloodstained as well.

one thing, id like the bestiary to be more quickly accessed this time, usually its in a collections menu, which means i have to go to the menu, go to collections, go to bestiary, then cycle through the pages to find what i need, and once i unpause i have to do all that again, maybe add an option to remember the last menu screen you were on when you hit start?
just thought of this, but a journal where miriam describes her adventures in the castle so far and her accomplishments may be a godsend if for some crazy reason you have to stop playing the game for a while and dont remember where youre at when you come back, i do this in rpgs all the time >.>

I remember SOTN had a little Compendium about monsters. Final Fantasy V has one with monsters' stats, portrait, drop, weaknesses, etc... and it's very useful !
I like having lore informations about characters as well, even about monsters ! Their origins are usually fascinating. I definitly agree with this idea ! I don't think it should be that hard to put this into the game and I'm pretty sure the devlopment team would appreciate this work.

The last few Igavanias included an enemy bestiary (Aria/Dawn, Portrait and Order). With all enemy stats, drops and special items (souls/glyphs). I don't recall if each one had a small bio of the enemies but some did and I think it would be welcomed in Bloodstained.
I assume we will get something of a bestiary for enemies. It just leaves 'how much' will be present.
