So I see this was back in the middle of 2012...what ever came of it? Did they settle the case? I did some digging and found squat. Though knowing how lawsuits seem to work with big companies and such, it could take years before any sort of resolution is formed. And we're not talking a single case, multiple lawsuits were filed from the same issue. The only thing I know is that Autumn Games broke off the partnership with Konami about a year later. It's been about 3 years since they were filed, so either it was settled VERY quietly or they are still sitting on it. Konami then pulled Skullgirls off the download store. That's why it was re-released/patched with the title Encore. This is a different issue though from the lawsuit.

They cannot afford AAA games with all the non fraud money going to lawyers to bar Kojima form anything Metal Gear.
Almost seems shocking. But more disappointing.

Not including Konami [now] Kojima-san is well respected in the business. Up there with Sakaguchi-san or Inafune-san.
Helping build the company that ultimately turned it's back on them. Internal politics mainly. His third party support is most likely why Konami is enforcing his 'paid vacation'. To keep him from joining up with whoever offers him what he wants.

So first something you will probably get a good laugh from: And now for a link that'll probably invoke the exact opposite reaction.

And now for a link that'll probably invoke the exact opposite reaction. So from now on they only want to develop Metal Gear as a console game? There's no way the next game will be anywhere near the same level of quality we've been getting.

What will be interesting is what Konami actually does do. You all remember that survey a while back? It asked for input on franchises we haven't seen/heard from in decades. I'm very curious to see what they do with that information. Who will they actually get to make such things? They keep saying they're not abandoning the market...
Haha, a commenter on the article Malek linked thinks that the Metal Gear games will be better for it, that Kojima made them too nonsensical and convoluted. Well, thinking of MG games that I don't think Kojima had direct involvement with: NES MG1, Snake's Revenge, Ghost Babel, Acid...
Hm. Kind of 50/50 on good games there. I think they can do something decent, another Rising game is probable (or a Platinum game of the style with Kojima involved that's separate from Konami...), or I could see them easily try to do more with the online components of recent MGS, like fleshing out Metal Gear Online or expanding on the...F2P-ish parts of how MGS5 works with its sign in bonuses and simulated battles. No heavy-handed, uncomfortable nuclear disarmament dialogue, just familiar gameplay, some easily exploited nostalgia and grabbing your money here and there. Elementary. Recent games seem to have taken the spotlight off of Hayter's Solid Snake and we all love that character, so get him involved...
Best case, for example: a faithful and complete remake of Metal Gear 1. Could be based off of the NES game if distancing from Kojima is a concern. I liked the game. Punch dogs, people feel asleep, truck have started to move, good times. I've actually wanted this for a long time.
Otherwise/more likely: Daily sign-in grind asynchronous multiplayer game where you build up an MSF, Diamond Dogs, Outer Heaven or whatever with lots of cameo purchasable DLC. Lots of product placement development items. I hope it's ported to PC so someone can mod a giant pachislot Metal Gear. Pachislothropus.

I recall MG Rising 2 was briefly teased a year or so ago. With no follow up. But with that questionare it didn't cover everything Konami. Which is unfortunate because they do have some decent franchises in their catalog...
But we at least know Castlevania and Metal Gear will never be the same. Though come to think of it, that mini game hidden in MGS3 would have made a cool game...

Hey, there was actually a survey earlier this year that covered a lot of franchises from Konami. Just about everything was covered, even like Sunset Riders and Mystical Ninja stuff. It was pretty surprising. No Metal Gear on it, though, as I recall. Never heard anything about what would come of the data.

I would buy a Konami tears mug if it were available for purchase from a reliable store, good quality, and reasonably priced.

we all know konami's situation atm. I made a hypothesis on what would happen before the whole bloodstained thing. lol. here is a pasted version of it:
anyway, what i thought back when i first created this group has come to pass, excuse me if i suck. iga got sick of things as well and the future of castlevania is now. people have petitions up for sotn pc, and a bunch of other things. what disturbs me the most however is konamis profound silence over the matter. as a company they throw away more money ignoring cv fans than they have actually wasted on producing these games. i believe the main cause of metroidvania being niche is that: multiplayer usually sucks if at all existant, the devs just dont care about fan ideas, long release waits, very little western marketing, and other things you may add to the list.
it cant be popular if no one knows of its existance. very few people play solo.
so we know reform is necessary. konamis deal with kojima is over. this means that there are no more los games. los and hod left cv in a bad state. konami can either: resign kojima, do it themselves, ignore series existance, sell copyrights, or have it developed by a second hand company.
either way this falls, we should see something rise from the ashes within 3 years, otherwise i may just become avgn
END OF PASTE ok, so what if right? above explains the body of this post, but what if koji bought (or licensed) castlevania's IP? he has the money to take a legitimate shot at it.
