I saw on bloodstainedmiriam's Facebook page This article.Aside from a soccer game, it looks like Konami no longer will make console games. This is great news... but sad. How is it great? This is the best time for them to sell their IPs off.

I honestly feel that a company not interested in AAA games is a good thing. Companies focusing on AAA games with a 'go big or go home' attitude is doing more harm then good to the video game industry. It's actually refreshing to see a company shun AAA games.
But then, this is Konami. They've already made it clear that they intend to back out of console gaming once MGSV is a done thing and be a mobile company. So, this is just another nail in the coffin of their franchises.

I like pc games fine. As a matter of fact I ordered the gog version of BS. But not making console games is a tragic loss.
Not making AAA games on the other hand is good.
I think the concept of AAA is one of the worst things that happened to gaming. I DO like some AAA games like the souls series and GTA, but i cant help but notice that there are like 20 good not AAA gamr for every AAA, yet those high budget games get ALL the media attention and advertisement and store stock and and... Argh.

I'm not surprised by the news, but I want to view this as a opportunity for positive change. It's good to see a big gaming company not rely on AAA games in order to find success and I hope their new target audience enjoys their games. I hope Konami's older franchises end up in good hands with re-releases across as many platforms as possible (bundles like the Sega Genesis/Megadrive Classics Collection would be nice) instead of just mobile ports and pachinko machines. If not, well, then it's up to the fans to keep their older games alive.

I hope we still see some of their IPs in some capacity. I'm not really big on mobile so I doubt I'll see myself paying much attention to them now.

I'd be fine with smaller games. Lately, I've come to realize I don't have as much time as I used to before to finish huge games (as of now). Quality over quantity, although they have a lot to make up for.

Man. The end of an era. Good riddance, I guess.. There's no talent left over there anyway. Konami is only a shell hiding behind a former household name.

I can only hope they sell their IP's to developers who can continue the legacy.

They aren't going to sell their IPs. At least not the ones with any amount of success.
If it can sell on mobile, they'll keep it. Look forward to Metal Gear Solid: Mobile Ops.

Apparently Konami is denying this rumor, though no public statement has been given. Granted, this is just a CSR response, but then again, the reports are just rumors.

They didn't answer any of the questions. Then again, asking directly what they will do with the Fox Engine now is probably something they don't want to discuss. My guess, given how superstitious they've been rumored to be, is that they are burning it at the stake. I think they should either license it out or sell it, unless the engine works for cheap mobile games in which case we're doomed.

Might as well make it worth the money that was pumped into it and let devs play with it if they don't have major plans for it.

You are right those IP's are going to collect dust for a good long time before konami even entertains the idea of selling or lending out IP's, i do not see them selling but the really bad side is they have all the hudson soft titles too so i will be really sad that they hold so many big name titles that will be left to collect dust. I do hope that before oct 5th that they drop castlevania DS on the wiiu eshop so i can play it on the 10th year anniversary on the tv.

Picture it now, Solid Snake on mobile you need to sneak down a hallway but there are no boxes! Just click the app and buy one for $.99!
Or you can wait one week to craft a box instead.

They didn't answer any of the questions. Sure they did. If someone asks you "where are you going to live now that your house has burnt down?" then answering with "Actually, my house is just fine," is a perfectly good answer. You don't have to explicitly say where you're going to live; obviously you are going to keep living in your home. Likewise, there is no need to answer the question "what are you going to do with the Fox Engine?" if they already debunked the assumption "now that you've moved on." They haven't moved on, so they'll either keep using the Fox Engine or use something else as they choose.

He is right though, they didn't answer the any of the questions and your response is a false equivalence. Even if they did answer the questions it wouldn't actually matter as it was customer support. You would have to ask someone way higher up in the company than that. If by some miracle they were privy to that info they would probably not be allowed to comment on it.

I don't think the response was dodging questions even if it was bs. It's simply saying that none of these concerns are valid, thus the specific question is irrelevant.
