Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time for the hunt!
(No cubs were harmed in the making of this photo that I'm aware of)
For those who don't know, Monster Hunter is an action series with some light MMO RPG elements. It's fun to play alone and hone your skills, but it really shines when you get 3 other friends to take these giant aggressive beasts down. There's no overarching story and it really isn't that important in this game. You can start anywhere and be just fine. I highly recommend it and 4 Ultimate is the perfect place to start since it is extremely beginner friendly. It's 3DS exclusive currently.
Here is an example:
Spoiler, the monsters come even bigger than that.
If you need help, feel free to ask. There are also plenty of videos on the subject. I will link you some of the material.
Hunters New and Old will definitely want/need these resources:
MH1/Freedom was a success and a cult classic in the west. We got MH2 on PSP in the West eventually as MH Freedom 2/Freedom Unite. MH3 and MH3 Ultimate were tepid, sleeper successes in the West. With MH4 Ultimate being a resounding success in Japan and the West, I think it's appropriate to celebrate and continue to hunt.
Heck, there's even an MMO game called Frontier that looks insane. You can play with more than 3 other friends. I've seen some videos with as many as 8.
And would you look at that, Monster Hunter X was announced as well for the 3DS! It's continuing the current trend. I have zero doubt that X will make its way to the Western audiences.
Please, share your thoughts on the series. What are your favorite monsters? Favorite Song? Some other answer to a question I haven't thought of?
Exchange friend codes for online play(Or do it through private messages)! Skype or Google Hangouts or Vent or what have you for said hunts(Or do it through private messages)!
But remember, keep it civil and have fun!
Final thoughts:

My favorite monster and eternal rival is Rathalos.(Regardless of color, shape, or size)
I wish Rahtalos had his own theme though. He mostly borrows other theme tunes. My favorite song is Brachydios.
