Misc. observations:
Q: Which features of the main game (playing as Miriam or the next Main Character) would you like to see improved/focused on most for the next game? Please prioritize them in order (#1 being most focus desired, #5 being least). A low rank does not necessarily denote poor quality.
Top 3 choices for #1:
1st: Shards/Magic Abilities
2nd: Weapon Techniques
3rd: Miriam’s Customization
Top 3 choices for #2:
1st: Shards/Magic Abilities
2nd: Weapon Techniques
3rd: Familiars
Top 3 choices for #3:

3rd: Crafting (Alchemy and Food)
Misc. observations:
Q: On game difficulty - how did you feel about the difficulty of the main game (playing as Miriam on Normal)?
Misc. observations:
Q: On Area/Level design - do you prefer IGAvania games remain entirely in a "Castle", mostly in a Castle, partially in a Castle, or no Castle necessary at all?
Misc. observations:
Q: On Map/Castle size and level design, what is most important to you?
Misc. observations:
Q: On Art Direction and Atmosphere - which of the following statements would you agree with? (may select multiple)
Since the choices are cut off in the image, here they are:
The art direction/atmosphere of the game could be more "gothic".
The art direction/atmosphere of the game could be more "horror".
The art direction/atmosphere of the game could be more "campy" (as opposed to strictly adhering to seriousness).
There could be more gore.
There could be more adult content in general (including gore, sexual themes, etc).
I do not mind if the game is not "gothic" or "horror" oriented.
There could be less adult content in general (including gore, sexual themes, etc).
I think the art direction/atmosphere of the game is fine as it is (may be checked in addition to others).

Common “Things to Fix” in next game responses:
Graphics, better Switch port, more/better story, 2D art style instead

Top 3 choices for #3:
1st: Attack/Playstyle Variety
2nd: Areas/Levels + Level Design
3rd: Accessibility, UI, Controls/Feel
Misc. observations:
- “Areas/Levels” trumps the other items, showing up as the clear #1 choice but also dominating the popular picks for #2 and #3 ranks.
- “Attack/Playstyle Variety” is a strong second in how it solidly follows the above choice.
- “Character Customization” has clearly “least focus desired”, but shows up as a somewhat common comment point for things to add/improve on in the free text responses (i.e. clothing/costume items showing up on the character, etc).
Q: What non-gameplay-related aspects of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night would you like to see improved/focused on most for the next game? Please prioritize them in order (#1 being most focus desired, #5 being least). A low rank does not necessarily denote poor quality.
Top 3 choices for #1:

2nd: Graphics Quality
3rd: Music and Sound Design
Top 3 choices for #2:
1st: Character Designs
2nd: Setting, Story and Narrative
3rd: Graphics Quality (barely beats Art Direction)
Top 3 choices for #3:
1st: Character Designs
2nd: Art Direction
3rd: Music and Sound Design
Misc. observations:
- The “Setting, Story and Narrative” choice blows everything away.
- Graphics Quality is a popular choice, but also has the 3rd highest “least focus desired” (#5) votes.
- Character Designs are at an interesting median point in this.
Q: How much did you enjoy each of these features from the main game (playing as Miriam) in Ritual of the Night?
Full res imgur link to this graph: i.imgur.com/ABeXxSn.png
Misc. observations:
- "Biggest Castle Ever” is a very valued feature, but see castle size question below.
- It seems that expanding Familiars could be more of a focus point, since people seem to enjoy what’s there.
- Crafting systems are a somewhat divisive inclusion, but it does have the highest “liked” (purple) bar.
Q: Which features of the main game (playing as Miriam or the next Main Character) would you like to see improved/focused on most for the next game? Please prioritize them in order (#1 being most focus desired, #5 being least). A low rank does not necessarily denote poor quality.
Top 3 choices for #1:
1st: Shards/Magic Abilities
2nd: Weapon Techniques
3rd: Miriam’s Customization
Top 3 choices for #2:
1st: Shards/Magic Abilities
2nd: Weapon Techniques
3rd: Familiars
Top 3 choices for #3:
1st: Familiars
2nd: Weapon Techniques
3rd: Crafting (Alchemy and Food)
Misc. observations:
- “Shards/Magic Abilities” is the strongest winner of any of the focus rank questions because it has the most combined #1, #2 and #3 votes - Igavania fans love the Igavania variety!
- “Weapon Techniques” is a strong performer as well in 2nd, and I’m very happy and surprised to see that.
- Again, “Miriam’s Customization” is interesting.
Q: On game difficulty - how did you feel about the difficulty of the main game (playing as Miriam on Normal)?
Misc. observations:
- I feel that this is close to where we should be, considering that the average respondent is a fan and likely core gamer.
Q: On Area/Level design - do you prefer IGAvania games remain entirely in a "Castle", mostly in a Castle, partially in a Castle, or no Castle necessary at all?
Misc. observations:
- Nothing too surprising, except perhaps over a third of responses being alright with no castle.
Q: On Map/Castle size and level design, what is most important to you?
Misc. observations:
- While having a big map to explore is very important to us as seen earlier, uniqueness is heavily desired over map size alone.
-
Misc. observations:
- It could be interesting to see how the tone and themes of Bloodstained could change in the future, and for right now it seems that some amount of “gothic”, “horror” and “adult content” are desired by fans. At the same time, most are still fine with how it currently is, inferring that it may not be wise to change too much.
Q: On Character Designs - which existing characters would you like to see return as playable, important NPCs or as bosses? (may check multiple roles)
Full res imgur link to this graph: i.imgur.com/yIAK6EU.png
Misc. observations:
- Miriam, Zangetsu and new characters are clearly desired.
- For a character not himself actually playable in RotN, OD is rated popularly as being wanted as playable and important.
- Johannes is the important-est!
Q: Which of the currently-released extra game modes for Ritual of the Night did you find enjoyable or interesting?
Full res imgur link to this graph: i.imgur.com/aHXRGLl.png
Misc. observations:
- Bloodless Mode was a hit, and well-deservedly so. Randomizer and Classic were also popular.
- The most “Dislike” being present for Zangetsu Mode is likely due to the common sentiment that more was desired from this mode. Unfortunate, as it seemingly had the highest amount of interest.
Common “Things to Add” to next game responses:
Co-op, Alucard (also positive OD response), true/actual Roguelike Mode
Common “Things to Fix” in next game responses:
Graphics, better Switch port, more/better story, 2D art style instead
