Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night finally landed in 2019, but that doesn't mean the development story is over. The team is still hard at work on additional content, and they'll have more to share in the new year.
Before we kick this one over to IGA, a quick shipping update: All rewards from $60 (the physical version of the game) to $500 (the Architect's Secret Map), including the collector's boxes with and without signatures, should be out to backers now.
If you're missing something in that range, double-check your survey to make sure you've confirmed your address. If you have, and you're still missing something, contact us using the email address on our Survey Support page and we'll get it shipped out to you. (The only exception is the Amano poster, which is still being created. We'll update you here as soon as it's ready to produce.) Next up to be distributed is the stained glass, which is going out soon; if you're waiting on another high-tier reward (physical or virtual) we'll be in touch if we haven't been already.
Hello—IGA here.
The year is almost over. 2019 turned into a very special year, because it marked the release of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, but as it comes to a close there is still a lot of content for us to deliver to you. We hoped to have it for you sooner, but it's been a lot of hard work.
This coming year, we'll move forward and complete everything that's still left for us to do.
Thank you for your support in 2019, and we will look forward to the year ahead.
Happy Holidays, everyone!
It’s December and the end of 2019 is upon us. The year has been an incredible journey of successes and challenges and there is so much more coming after the New Year.
The dev teams are hard at work behind the scenes on Zangetsu and two new modes, one of which is Boss Revenge. Beyond that, we have more modes and an additional playable character on the way. We plan to have a regular cadence of content once all the platforms are on the same level of content. We will have more news on this in the new year.
Before we get to that, here’s the current state of development for the consoles: Xbox One Update 1.006 for Xbox One is live, along with Iga’s Back Pack. Backer codes for the DLC are out, too; we emailed all affected backers, but if you're at the $60 tier or higher you can find yours on your survey page.
PS4 PS4 update 1.04 is now live! For Japan, while the version number is different, they are at the same state of code. We will sync up version numbers in January in a future update.
Switch Update 1.04 is nearly complete and we expect it to go live worldwide in January. Regions currently on 1.02 (SE Asia and Korea for example) will get upgraded directly to 1.04, which will include all the improvements from 1.03.
As always, we appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue to update the game through the end of the year and throughout 2020!
Thanks for being fans of Bloodstained! We’ll see you in 2020.

Perhaps a tad premature to ask, but can you say what the contents of the new Switch update will be, i.e. increased model texture resolution, lighting fixes, load times etc.? Or is it just a general stability fixes kind of thing?

Kind of afraid because they didn't mention multiplayer, hopefully they just forgot to mention it

Thanks, I am glad the patch is out on PS4 now =) One question I do have though: Can someone confirm that the bug that make the game unplayable offline once the IGA Backpack DLC is bought was fixed? I do not have the option to always have my console online, so I would like to know if it is now safe to buy the DLC and be able to play offline =)

I'm really hoping that Boss Rush Mode gets another look. Would love to have a single boss rush mode with all the bosses present (including IGA for those with DLC). Was there ever an explanation why this wasn't implemented?
Yay, seems update 1.04 for Switch dropped. Having revisited the game every time an update was released, It really seems like the graphics have gotten an update this time - too early to say anything definite. Input lag is still a noticeable issue though (playing from SD card). Looking forward to the official word on the update!

When is the next patch for Bloodstained Ritual of the night going to be released for Nintendo Switch? Will they release patch 1.05 for Nintendo Switch version of Bloodstained Ritual of the night to fix and improve performance, graphics?

They made a seperate official topic for the Update now. And there they mention that while they will keep update the switch version, it seems that their focus is now the release of Zangetsu first! Hope the monthly update report drops soon...
So it's already February, I'm still waiting this "January update for PS4 (JP?) version"...
Are you referring to this?

It sounds like all that would mostly do is make the numbers match. They are already the same content-wise, as this from December says.
I assume it may include a few minor fixes, of course it may not... But take a step back, even if the content is just "sync up version numbers", they didn’t launch in January as announced...

Got back into Bloodstained the last few weeks after the PS4 patch was released and have to say the game looks and plays really well. Things have really come a long way since the day 1 build and I look forward to what's in store next. With this game still being updated I wanted to share some of the glitches and areas for improvement post patch. Note that all footage was taken from the US version running on PS4 Pro.
Glitches:
1) Miriam's muffled under water voice changes back to normal when changing room:
Occurrence: Always.
2) Missing map borders on mini-map and large map (see yellow highlights):
Occurrence: Sometimes / Random.
3) Missing dialog text:
Occurrence: Occurs randomly. On consecutive play-throughs did not occur in same areas.
4) Purple flowers flickering in save room:
Occurrence: Randomly but happens around 90% of the time. As you can see in the video the flowers flicker whether or not Miriam is close to the flowers when she absorbs the save orbs so it's a glitch and likely not by design.
5) Drop items falling through chandeliers:
Occurrence: Always.
6) Supersized Shuriken when bouncing off of supersized enemies:
Occurrence: Always. Probably my favorite glitch out of all of them
7) Directional Shard execution for shards that normally pass through walls fails when standing against wall: (Added FEB16)
Occurrence: Always. Note that when stepping away from the wall just slightly the move executes.
Areas for visual improvements:
1) Arvantville Mountains: Currently have a very rough linear look to them (see yellow highlights):
Would love to see something a little closer to the beautiful mountain range as seen in the background in the video below:
2) Rope textures on Galleon Minerva. Textures were added for the smaller ropes (highlighted in green) post release but the longer ropes (highlighted in yellow) still have very bland texturing:
Would be nice more detailed textures were also added for the longer rope.
3) Misc. textures that would benefit from updating (highlighted in yellow):
- Base of pillars in ninja race room:
- Base of pillars on Teleport portal:
- Well area texture above ice cave entrance:
- Textures in background in cave area directly below drained blood pool:
- Blocky angel statues in room where Alfred was first encountered:
- Lion statue in underground sands area:
None of these are game breaking in any way but I would appreciate it if Angel-Corlux or Question could take a look at the feedback above. I think we all want bloodstained to be the best experience possible given available resource constraints.
PS: If image or video links were previously broken I apologize for that. All links have been fixed now.
Last Edit: Feb 16, 2020 19:54:13 GMT -6 by hyugakojiro: Feb 16th updated video links and added new item to glitch list (no 7)

Nice list! Glad someone takes time to actually list AND screenshot them all =D
However, there is one thing that I think should DESPERATELY be fixed! Not a gamebreaker, but it kills immersion pretty big time xD
If you use the train to travel BACK, so not to the Lab but back to the castle, the background will still rotate the same way as if you drive towards the lab, and it will make the castle in the background, the closer it comes, look more and more terrible actually!
The "I must away" that you list as glitch 7 isn't a typo. It is an archaic use of must as an intransitive verb meaning "to be obliged to go." An example of it is the line "I must to Coventry" from Shakespear's Richard II. The 1783 date of the journal entry falls well with in the time period it was used.

NightmareGamma Nice catch with the train ride back. Don't remember if I ever rode the train back or if I did but never noticed. Maybe try using the invert skill and see if the train reverses course ;D
shimrion Thanks for pointing that out. I'm going to edit my original post to remove it since it's an oversight on my part.
Ciel: Been a long time since I last logged here, but it seems that until we get any news of a sequel, there won't be much to discuss. Oh well!

purifyweirdshard: The discord is certainly where the activity is, but we'll keep this forum up and running as long as we can. Bloodstained's subreddit also still moves along pretty well

LeoLeWolferoux: Man, Yeah I'm surprised IGA hasn't said *anything* about a B:ROTN 2. As far as I know he had full intentions of making one, but radio silence as far as I know. :/

Brainiac: So Mr. Welldone...thoughts on Dom getting a new mode and Alfred getting bupkis?

Redogan: Classic II looks pretty good. I might add it to my Bloodstained collection.

XombieMike: You should! It continues the story!

Enkeria: Do we know if Mana Ikeda will continue to make art for Bloodstained 2? I mean. She really should! Its pure awesomeness.
