OK so, it’s been several months since I’ve really looked into what was going on with this game after I beat it. I guess I just wanted to confirm that there really is no news about Zangetsu mode for the PS4, which is frankly shocking to me. I mean, I originally expected it to be part of the game on release, but I didn’t mind having to wait a while to have it implemented into the game in a future update (along with whoever playable character #3 would end up being). At this point, though, it just seems absurd. What have they been doing all this time that they can’t take the next step and implement a new game mode that we were supposed to have a really, really long time ago? Am I missing something here?

There have been a ton of problems.
To start the Switch version which had the most physical sales opening week(more than PS4 and Xbox combined) was super glitchy
Also things like the Overlord achievement on Xbox was glitched until just a few days ago, also we still can't buy the iga pack
TLDR There isn't even an estimated time of release for Zangetstu yet, they've been busy working on other stuff

OK well, if those are the reasons then those are the reasons. But if the game is so incredibly glitchy And has other problems, They should have taken care of a lot of those before they released the game.

People kept complaining that the game kept getting delayed and i think they had to release because the kickstarter money was starting to run out |

Zangetsu is a playable character. And he is under wraps and highly playable. They have gone through bugs with him, and he is coming along with all the other modes that was promised and are mentioned on the physical game cover itself.
Edit: Zangetsu + Modes will come, but not at the same time.

You can thank the subpar Switch version and the subsequent 5 months they spent prioritizing the patches to that version which clearly redirected manpower away from the rest of the promised free DLC.
I’m finding myself wishing Bloodstained didn’t come out in June and got delayed 6 months. They very obviously jumped the gun here. They were not ready.

They likely knew they weren't ready, but they had to pull the trigger for the aforementioned reasons. I've stated before, but I have a hard time believing Iga would release his game without a decent amount of promised modes completed and the versions thoroughly debugged. I honestly didn't expect it to be released much before this past Halloween and certainly that probably would have been the right call to give them a few extra months to work on things, but obviously something made them have to drop the release early.
It sucks and I'm impatiently waiting for Zangetsu mode too, but it is what it is and if they needed actual game sales to help finance them moving forward, then there you go.
