I've beaten the game twice so far, first on Normal difficulty and then followed by a NG + playthrough on Hard difficulty. By the time I finished my NG + Hard Difficulty playthrough I had gotten the game's Platinum trophy as well as all the (at the time) possible Boss Medals.

Zero times: I've not picked it up since spending an hour failing to beat the first boss, so I'm waiting until I recover enough interest to batter off it and get to the actually interesting part of the game.

aoanla if you're struggling my suggestion would be to farm head flail from dullahammer and ether from ghosts. That way you can power up quite a bit before attempting the boss fight again. You could also take a look at lai's boss beating guide here on the forums to get a better understanding of how best to avoid Vepar's attacks.

I haven't played NG+ at all. I find it too boring if there's no feeling of progression armor and weapons.

Now, you have even lower chance to beat the boss. This is hardly true. The only ability that you can have at that point that was nerfed slightly is flame cannon which is absolutely not needed or even that good of a strategy to beat Vepar. Come on now, we can be against the nerfs but let's not be ridiculous.

That's is simple logic. I am talking about the possibilities, nerf is definitely not helping him to beat the boss. On the contrary, it might lower his chance to beat the boss.

1: 100% Normal, didn't notice the presence of boss medals. 2: 100% NG Nightmare mode with most boss medals grabbed. 3. Minimum kills without grabbing max up items, no food/equipment crafting, gathered several specific things for future save file use - whip sword, bunny morph, ex shovel armor, and made it to the lair before final boss. 4. NG Nightmare mode without grabbing max up items, until after beating the train boss I noticed it's impossible to beat the game under 78 MP cap in the current version.

I think part of the problem here is that I wasn't really feeling the boat section in general (and didn't really want to grind it, since I was feeling a bit frustrated - although some of that might have been down to spending 20 or 30 minutes trying to get the one technique you can find on the boat consistent, and failing). If the solution to beating bosses is always going to be "grind until it's easy enough for you"...

Just once so far. I'll play some more after the DLC is out. I have too many games to complete at the moment.

aoanla Nah, that's only one possible option if you don't feel like mastering the patterns of a boss. You can certainly beat every boss in the game without any grinding. Just takes some practice then ^^ The game opens up more after the ship and you'll have even more ways to progress. Hope you'll get there, cause I think it's a great game overall. Cheers!

Right: given that Vepar is the only boss which turns up before the game gives you access to the interesting stuff, I feel that they could be a mite easier. (Or at least more interesting to fight, if I'm going to be losing to them for an hour).

aoanla I generally agree - a first boss shouldn't be all that hard to beat. I'm sorry Vepar has been giving you such a hard time and I can empathize: Back when I was playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the first time many years ago, I couldn't beat the first boss for an hour and put the game away. It was only years later that I picked it up again and recognized how much I was missing out on by stopping to play back then. Maybe it'll just take a little time and with a fresh approach you'll beat the boss. Good luck!

100% normal on pc then 100% normal and hard on switch. Good game on both.
On a side note I think vepar would be easier for more people the first time if it were more clear that she can be hit while doing that spray attack in the background.

I played it once on PC and got the bad ending. I will complete the game and play more times if and when the Switch version gets 60 FPS.

I think I sort of agree (it's not obvious that she has a hitbox there, and I only knew she did because I've seen other people playing)... but I've also been completely unable to actually hit her myself in this position. (I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.)

(I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.) I find her easiest to hit with the claymore because it has that overhead swing. That way you don't have to jump as high. Hold down the jump button until you're almost on top of your jump arc and then hit attack. You should be able to hit her face.

That's really not obvious from the visual feedback you get (the seaweedy bits on her flash, so I assumed that they were part of the hitbox).
