I'm about 80% complete with the map on Hard Mode (just beat Zangetsu for his katana). Based on how I play, hard mode feels like playing SotN with X-X!V''Q, except it takes just a little longer to level up to a point where the enemies don't feel so overwhelming.

Hard Mode was how I played the game for the first time. It was never stopped being super punishing until the very end, the game kicked my ass constantly and I wouldn't want it any other way. I lost count how many times both Zangetsu fights mop the floor with me!
So happy there was a cheat code to be able to unlock Hard without having to beat the game first. It was precisely the difficulty I wanted but casual fans need not apply so beware.

I kind of ruined my hard mode in the beginning when I power leveled to 20 before fighting the first boss. The rest of the game was a breeze and now I'm in the end game grinding for shards.

Speed Run mode is great at keeping you honest. Feeling the clock at your back makes you push yourself.

Lol, I think I would have shut off the game due to boredom if I tried to pushed to level 20 before the first boss. One thing about hard mode is the tougher enemies appear earlier, which means you have earlier access to better items needed for crafting betters shards and gear. That makes hard mode somewhat easier. |

It feels like the right level of challenge for me. I enjoy seeing how the enemies got enhanced stats overall. Having enemies appear in areas they didn't normally appear in in normal mode brings a new dynamic to grinding for shards in certain areas. I still plan on grinding for a lot of shards, but it still does feel a good amount more difficult compared to Normal.
