Hi everyone, I've just started recently, I find it little confusing about the story. Why did they sacrified the Shardbinders? Would it because they caused the appearance of demons, or there're demons so they sacrified/killed Shardbinders as a ritual to please the demon world?
Switch should be the most concerned topic at this moment I noticed, with many negative comments but I have a different thought or insight, I actually like simpler graphics. I brought all consoles a few years back, sadly all gone too soon or died, the only survivor is Wii U. I like games but at the same time I don't play very often, maybe less than a few hours a week in average, and I really didn't expect my beloved XB360, PS3 the piano black would leave me in just 3 or 4 years low usage. Nintendo is way behind in talking about performances I noticed, since long ago, even the PS Vita looks better in comparison of a same game on both consoles, I thought I would like the Wii U version more since it has a bigger screen but... After console dies one after another, unreasonably, I thought I will never buy again. Somehow I get the PS4 and I regret it very soon, which the reason I should not tell. Anyway, it leads me to Bloodstained now, the game is great while I noticed very loud operation noise occasionally or oftenly which upset me, if there is such option or setting (can I request it seriously?), I would set it to low-tier graphic or even lower framerate in trade for a silent or quieter atmosphere, and most importantly a longer life cycle of the console, at least to ease my mind, I mean to have a choice.
Many people said this game is too easy, why do you lie? The first boss frustrates me a whole hour, she keep torturing me but I told myself, at least I should make it to the entrance of the castle perhaps. I don't recall any games that the first boss is that difficult or time consuming. You have to deal with different attacks from her at the same time. I cannot imagine what will be the upcoming bosses are like.
Long story, let's make it longer. I'm relying on this game now so please make more DLC or anything make it lives on. Action RPG is my favorite. I don't mind grinding over for a very rare drops from a chest, it gives me a good reason to play, but the big directional up showing in sharp white is unnecessary I would say, and trigger it with a button would be easier, well, I have not stepped into the castle yet anyway oops. But I did played some or many castlevania games before. Many people have made many valuable comments anyway, last thing I would say more feminine elements such as weapons or decoration is appreciated, I try not to use a sword or axe or something to make it less violent but I do not belong to the majority of gamers anyway.
The best of luck to Koji Igarashi-san Fighting!

I'll let someone else answer the story-related question, because the story didn't make much sense to me either.
I didn't quite understand what your were talking about regarding your consoles. Are you playing Bloodstained on Switch?
The Switch version of Bloodstained is incredibly badly-optimised. It's something that has been seriously disappointing for everyone here. If you would like to request a feature to turn down graphics settings on Switch, you can make a new thread in the "Game Feature Suggestion" board on this site. However, communication from the development team has been pretty bad as of late, so I don't know if it's going to be possible to get their attention.
You say you have a PS4, right? This game is much nicer on PS4, so if you're worried about the Switch version overheating your Switch, I might suggest buying and playing the PS4 version (if you can afford it).
Regarding the game's difficulty: This game has many many different items, weapons and abilities that can all make fights easier when used in clever ways. Most of these items can be created or upgraded at Arvantville, allowing you to become incredibly strong if you do enough grinding for the materials. This is one reason why some people say the game is easy - it's relatively simple to make yourself overly strong for many parts of the game. However, Arvantville is AFTER the Vepar fight, so if you're struggling there, you'll need to come up with something else. Yet, still, within the boat, there should be enough items there to make the fight easy. My advice for Vepar - try and get Dullahammer's shard, as the Head Flail shard does a lot of damage. You might be also able to inflict extra damage from a safe distance if you have bullets, which can be fired even after you've used all your MP on shard attacks. If you're low on bullets, the Cannon Morte enemy will drop them.
They plan to add DLC to this game, but the first priority is releasing patches to improve the Switch version, so DLC might take a while. It is coming, but we will all just have to wait.
The white directional up button displaying on screen.... what exactly is the problem you have here? This game shows you that, in order to open a chest, you need to press Up. The reason it doesn't use an action button is because, otherwise, a player might try to attack an enemy while standing near a chest, and be confused when their attack doesn't come out. Since the up button is not used in combat, using up as the chest opening button makes sense.
And you have a problem using swords or axes? Which weapon is your favourite so far?

Some of the story is intentionally kept vague until later into the game. The journal entries in bookshelves carry a lot of information. However, the short and non-spoiler version is that the crystal in Shardbinders not only has the power to gain abilities from demons, but to summon them into the world. The alchemists had been claiming that without them, terrible things would happen. When that wasn't enough to convince people to support them, they decided to perform a massive demon summoning, to prove that the world needed them. They needed the crystal in the Shardbinders to perform the summoning, and most Shardbinders didn't survive the process.

Difficulty is pretty subjective and depends on a person's skill level. I started in Nightmare mode for my very first playthrough (you and familiars are stuck at level one, stronger enemies show up in earlier levels) and I beat the game with only some bosses giving me some difficulty which I could have mitigated anyway if I just stacked with more healing items. It's the kind of game that is easy by its design to give you options to grind for power ups while the bosses and enemies themselves don't change. I also have issues with the story (more with some characters to be honest) but it's usually typical in many IGA games, I think the rules are you can't spoil things unless you're on a specific thread so be careful.

Would it because they caused the appearance of demons, or there're demons so they sacrified/killed Shardbinders as a ritual to please the demon world? OK, so, here's the story as I understood it. Alchemists had a lot of power and influence because they had wealthy clients. When the Industrial Revolution came about, these wealthy clients spotted sponsoring alchemists in favor of investing in commerce and businesses. The alchemists were not pleased, and so they started telling their clients that bad things would happen if they spotted sponsoring research into the supernatural and occult; and then they went ahead and made sure bad things happened by summoning demons. To summon the demons they needed human sacrifices - these are the Shardbinders. One Shardbinder, Miriam, fell into a deep sleep right before the ritual, so they had to make due without her. All of the other Shardbinders died, with the exception of Gebel. By reading the anonymous diary entries in the game, you learn why the Shardbinders were all young, why the alchemists needed them to summon the demons, why Miriam fell into a deep sleep, etc.

Thank you answering EBBenjy No, I play on PS4. I once almost brought a XB1 but unfortunately they all sold out last summer. I do not have Switch, I'm kind of a last-generation guy because I have no intend to buy anything this generation, like I mentioned PS4 is a mistake actually, I mean my mistake, it's not for me but I do not say it's bad, it's for the majority and not me. And thanks for the tips, I will try to make a post there in "Game Feature Suggestion." So I just read not only me, but other people also experience overheat in PS4, to a point that they cannot see the ending, that's really interesting to know. So exactly like I suggested, I'm thinking lower the framerate and or graphics (if possible) should have a positive impact at least to ease my mind. Just remember GT5 also give me that loud noise from console PS3 which is now gone... Thanks for the advice for Vepar, I actually did finished her after she finished me me a whole hour, that's not a easy game. Quickly soon I saved my game in the hideout and quit, where I realized later that's not far away from the castle. I'm now currently just beaten Samurai but he's not easy too, I need to level up first and get the spike boots, and that shard which point out 30MP/s, sorry about the names but I cannot remember them. About the directional up hint, the problem is, I mean this game is not only a game, it's a masterpiece of art I think everyone will agree, and that big white directional hint is kind of... ruining the scene don't you think? Maybe just me again, I know I'm rare My favorite weapons so far is the spike boots, brouncing water shard, and that 30MP/s. Swords are all likely slow responding and I prefer more dynamic action. anonthemouse That's clear now thanks, I thought the alchemists are good people... so Miriam or other shardbinders are victims. saberwolf94 How can you play "Nightmare"? Only "Normal" is available in my first game. OK I should move to the spoiler forum for deeper secrets. dareka Shardbinders are like between the good and the bad to me then, hmmm... more secrets to review in the diary, that's interesting.

At file select start a new game with NIGHTMARE in all caps hard mode and nightmare mode become available in the beginning. There are numerous other codes too you can find them on places like gamefaqs.
