Update on KickstarterHello everyone, I’m happy to report that this week we submitted a patch for Switch, once it’s approved we’ll update the game asap. The following changes are already locked in, and we’re working to confirm even more changes/improvements etc. for this patch, hopefully by next week: Performance Updates
The teams continue to work on input delay, stability and optimization. We’re not ready to release these improvements just yet, but we’ll be sharing more information in the coming weeks. Bug Fixes
* Map quest markers no longer showing when target has been killed * HD Rumble issues in certain areas fixed Familiar Changes * Familiar upgrade via Grade was nerfed * Increased strength based on level * Dullahammer Head has been nerfed * Shard Adjustments (Decreased Power) * Riga Storaema * Craftwork * Bunnymorphosis * Flame Cannon * Straight Arrow * Chase Arrow * Heretical Grinder * Circle Ripper * Shooting Dagger * Riga Dohin * Welcome Company (nerfed significantly - starting from 3 portraits instead of 5) * Weapon Adjustments (Decreased Power) * Flying Edge * Rhava Bural * Rhava Velar * Enemy HP Increases * Dullahammer Head * Malediction Drop Adjustments * Increased the drop rate of "Monster Fur" from Simians * Credits * Text corrections Map * Map close button has been remapped to standard exit/close button * Marker button has been changed * Trail display button has been changed * Map scroll speed improved * Zoom in and out improved * Zoom level retained when reopening the map * Auto-center when opening the map Last but not least, we’ve seen lots of people bring up the bug on XB1 regarding the “Overlord” achievement not unlocking. The teams are aware of this and are going to be fixing it! The fix is currently scheduled to be done within the next two weeks. I know that may sound like a lot of time, it’s just a matter of prioritizing more important fixes and improvements for now. It hurts so much to see balance patches when the game runs so poorly on the console,I'm so disappointed with the switch version It was very greedy from your part to release this game in this state.

Malediction and Dullahammer Head having more than 1HP seems weird. I think these types of enemies always had 1HP in previous games and it kinda just makes sense for them to be that way. Their pathing, numbers (quantity, not stats) and constant spawning is enough to define their threat. If you can't kill them in a single hit, there's not even a point in trying to kill them at all, as they'll move past you and at that point your attention should already be on the next one.
Nerfing Rhava Velar doesn't sound good. It's basically there for people who liked the Crissaegrim from SotN, which was OP as hell. I think it should keep its current power level. I don't even think it was as strong in Bloodstained as the Crissaegrim was in SotN to begin with. It's obviously very strong, but I think enemies in Bloodstained are more resistant than the ones in SotN, so its relative power level is a little lower, not only compared to enemies but also compared to other weapons (as in, the power gap between Rhava Velar and other endgame weapons is just not nearly as large as the gap between the Crissaegrim and, idk, Alucard's Sword). Emphasis on it being endgame equipment, too: this isn't something you get early on and outshines everything for the whole game (which could potentially be said about Welcome Company and Riga Storaema for the red shard slot, so I see where those come from at least).
I understand this may be them laying the groundwork for a more balanced experience in the multiplayer modes, to avoid having everyone use Rhava Velar or stuff like that, but even if it's balanced a lot better, the min-maxing mentality will always push the most competitive people into the one setup that performs ever so slightly better. If it's not Rhava Velar, it'll be something else, but whatever it is, they'll find it and flock to it. Meanwhile, if you're not particularly competitive and just want to have fun, you'll just use whatever is most enjoyable, so if the Rhava Velar's gameplay doesn't appeal to you, there's a ton of other weapons you might like more. You can see that in games that are primarily-online and "require" better balancing, like MMORPGs or MOBAs, which is not Bloodstained's case; quite the opposite, a ton of people seem to love finding setups that turn them into unstoppable killing machines at the end/post-game in these (which I think works just fine with it being exclusively endgame stuff).
I don't mean that balancing is entirely pointless or anything. I just mean they need to really consider how worthwhile their balancing changes are, especially if it diminishes the single-player experience in favor of multiplayer, as this is a primarily single-player game. It's good to fix extreme outliers, and honestly this is just one single weapon that I disagree on (for the record I rarely even use it myself), but I hope they keep this stuff in mind for future updates. Also I don't have an issue with the concept of nerfing some things (although I disagree with the Rhava Velar one), but I really really think nerfs to overpowered / overused things need to be accompanied by buffs to underpowered / underused things as well. Balancing exclusively with nerfs tends to feel pretty bad.
Edit: As some people here and on reddit have pointed out, multiplayer could also be balanced separately, which I find it unlikely as it probably takes more work (I wouldn't know, just a guess) and can be counter-intuitive to some players, even if personally I'd prefer it.

I get what you guys are doing(Some stuff despite things should be balanced if a vs mode happens) Does not mean I am entirely happy with it but it happens cause you don't always want a battle of who is more overpowered, I was just hoping the balance issues were only stuck to if you went to VS mode instead of the entire game, also the IGA pack. I know it was stated the week of the 15th of July, but no further word, makes me wonder if some bugs were found in it so it was held further back.

I'm pretty happy about this. I like my stuff to be a bit more balanced (here generally meaning weaker) so that I feel I can use all the cool stuff without having to make up some way to handicap myself to keep it fun.

Pass, no one wanted nerfs. Farming takes forever already in this game and I see several of my tools on that list. Plus as already mentioned some of that stuff is an homage to other equipment which was OP just leave it alone. Honestly haven't been digging the last few updates at all. Hope some better news follows.

Its been 3 weeks since the switch release and the game is still in a broken state. You stated you were immediately shifting resources to begin working on the performance updates that are still outstanding but the vast majority of what we are getting in the teased patch are unrequested nerfs... I've had my digital copy since the day it dropped and have logged maybe 2 hours on it, and that's probably where it's going to stay because it never should have made it through quality assurance. You can worry about balance when the game is stable. I would like a refund or a code for another platform, please. This game would have gone back to the store day 1 if it was purchased retail.

You all are overreacting over some nerfing. It’s called game balance and yes, shards like Arrows and Welcome Company were incredibly powerful when you get them early in the game. Good for them.
Having said that I’m very sad it’s been a month since release and two weeks since the already delayed confirmed date for Iga’s Backpack for PS4/XB1 and we still have no date for that. It’s out from day one on PC and now on Switch but not ps4/x1. What gives?

I thought the development team has been working hard to fix bugs and improve performance for the past two weeks, and I hope to release the patch as soon as possible. The fact is that time is enough for the team to focus on the players who feel the point of fun and nerf them, but not enough to fix the stability problem since the release. This is really disappointing, the development team, take good care of your time, supporters will be away from you.

It's just getting better and better : D[/quote] That's one of my biggest gripes, and it should be most Switch owners' major complaint. We have been repeatedly lied to regarding the Switch version. It's a steaming pile. Now we keep getting pacified with unfulfilled promises where it'll be to the point where no one will care if the Switch version gets optimized to the point it should have been on release... because no one will still be playing it. The Switch version was the best selling platform yet it is the worst release by far. They should've anticipated the Switch's selling power and planned accordingly and put their resources towards it in the first place.

I think I am ready to go for the next discount on PSN, accepting a double dip - it is however my most anticipated title in many years.
I still think Switch is the best home for this game by far, so I will keep checking in on that version now and then and through this forum.
I understand that people are frustrated, so am I, but ranting at the devs won't do any good. I want to believe that they really want to do this right, which is why they don't rush anything out. Ultimately I am so happy for this game finally being a reality, that I am fine digging other places in my backlog, till I can finally play the best possible version of this game.
