I'd expect each playable character to have their own scenario baked in to the gameplay structure-wise. So yeah, I hope so Just getting the chance to play as Zangetsu with his unique character moveset would be really cool to experience.

It's surely going to be interesting to see what happens when you enter story-bossfights with Zangetsu. Especially the two Zangetsu fights. Like, Zangetsu already has the Zangetsuto, right? So does he even NEED to go to the oriental sorcery lab to be able to slice the moon? I'm curious to see how they deal with potential sequence breaks like that.

Previous IGA games mostly always had the bare minimum effort applied to make the extra character modes playable. Some games took a bit more care than others - in Joachim mode, the Joachim boss is renamed "Doppelganger", which is good. But in Albus mode, the Albus boss is still just Albus, which is a bit silly.
Dawn of Sorrow definitely had the best extra mode, since there was actually a bit of story to it and a unique end boss.
I hope, since Zangetsu mode is post-launch DLC, they will take the time to give it more care and attention than these previous games' extra modes were given. It would be quite disappointing to have to wait so long just to get yet another threadbare mode like the old games.

I've always considered the Zangetsu mode to be akin to Julius mode from Aria. I imagine it'd play similar to that. Or we could be surprised and it goes a tiny bit in depth as to why Zangetsu is primarily after Gremory, since those two seem to have a bit of history.
