Wondering if there is any settings I can alter to make the game work. After I get the first shard I try and leave the room and the screen goes black and doesn't load. Edit: Steam version.

have you ever played the E3 demo version? the official release version is confused by the old save. even if you don't see the save file in the list when you start the game, it is actually loading the old save when you start the game.
I started the game in the 2nd slot which is really empty, and the game is fine. then I save my game on top of slot 1 to get rid of the E3 demo save.
