Rumors and trends, official and unofficial, have swirled about a new Castlevania game at least since E3 2018, with one Konami rep even stating as early as June 2017 that "discussions are ongoing" about a potential "new game." (See this thread post for a full timeline.) Will this "announcement" be the confirmation that such a game is in development, or something else? |

What would be included in castlevania collection 2? Your guess is as good as mine, but the most logical choice would be to focus on the series' later style, starting with Rondo as a story transition:
i.e. Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night, Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia.
Conversely...it could be some of the above and a few more of the classic-style titles, like Chronicles/x68000, Dracula X SNES, and possibly even The Adventure ReBirth (assuming there won't be a separate ReBirth collection).

I voted that it's an actual Castlevania game. I can kind of feel it coming, as I think RichterB does as well.
What it will be/how will it be executed is much more of the unknown. I think it's been near inevitable for a while. And don't confuse my thought here for me being "hopeful", haha. They've been doing a little better lately, but I'm nowhere near ready to say that I think good decisions are generally coming from now on.

It's got to be a big announcement to be called "special," right? So it has to be a name that's important or storied. Silent Hill could fit in the "Other" category I left, but other than that you've basically got Castlevania, Contra, and Metal Gear. There are fresh rumors talking about a [half-baked] Contra, and while I'm a fan of that series as well, at this point, I'd rather see the new Castlevania. Whatever it is, I hope none of it is half-baked. These franchises deserve better. I feel like it [new CV] should happen right around now, but I also feel that Konami might want to wait longer, maybe till after Bloodstained's hype settles down.

At this point I should learn to stop guessing when it comes to Konami, if it's not a new Castlevania game I don't really know what it could be, I mean I'd love a remaster of the MGS games, or a remake of the original MG games, but I don't see that happening, a new Metal Gear game just scares me I mean I know it will happen someday and I'm not against it in principle but Survive was just a waste of the Fox Engine.
They've been dropping bread crumbs about Castlevania for couple years now and if they were going to announce something now would be the time. I don't think there will be an anniversary collection 2 for any of the different versions, a new Contra would be awesome, but if they were gonna do that I think they would have made a stronger Contra Anniversary selection, a ReBirth collection/continuation would be cool but not an E3 needed announcement (though wouldn't hurt either). If it's a sports game announcement I'll just be annoyed at having my time and curiosity wasted.

Would certainly appreciate more classic collections be it Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, TMNT, etc.
Not sure if Konami is up for a new CV but they may commission a remake of CV3 using the Netflix characters and art design. I could also see them porting an enhanced version of Grimoire of Souls to Switch, PS, and Steam. Not sure I'd care but something I'd consider likely.
At the top of my wish-list from Konami at their prime would be another Zone of the Enders with Warhawk-esque online multiplayer, 1999 CV, and maybe a Rebirth version of the NES Monsters in my Pocket.

RichterB If Fighting Force (PS1) plus guns is Konami's answer to a current gen Contra then I don't want to see what's in store for Castlevania. Here's hoping we get more classic collections though.

So the TurboGrafx 16 was the big announcement I guess. Makes sense from Konami's standpoint, but I'm not interested. I guess all my speculations that Konami was planning on a new Castlevania are done now. Seems they are truly just going to nickel and dime their past glory.
