The Update Thread

Somehow, made me think of this

Like most of the rest of the folks here, I'm all for being patient, and it's definitely a good idea to take all the time you need to make sure the update is as good as possible.

That said, however, respectfully I can understand some of the anxiety...there have been several high-profile Kickstarter failures recently. While I'm sure we have nothing to worry about, since IGA is far more experienced than any of the unsuccessful guys, they do serve as stark reminders for any KS backer to remain perpetually vigilant. It's not surprising--or unreasonable, IMO--that the longer people wait, the more apprehensions will grow. I don't think any of the folks asking when the update will come are being hasty or impatient. Aside from their enthusiasm being laudable, they also want to make sure their faith in, and donations to, the Bloodstained team are justified.

Now, if the update is super amazing, though (and I have faith it will be, something tells me the survey isn't the only thing people have been working on ) there'll be nothing at all to worry about. Still, I think it's fair to say that even while enjoying the momentous, unprecedented success of the Bloodstained drive, everyone--IGA, Fangamer, Inti Creates, and even all of us here at the forums, in the way--has a responsibility to the fans that's equally as weighty, and can't be forgotten.

Plenty of people understand, but it's more than possible.  For example, look at how Grim Dawn has handled their updates.  It's NUTS.

I think gamers are just so used to hearing nothing at all for months and months and months that they've just kind of accepted that as the norm.  It can be the norm, as companies that already have the money they need or anticipate major sales don't need to maintain that hype, but it doesn't need to be the norm.  An update can be as simple as some concept art and "we're currently working on [insert a subject here]."  Maybe mention challenges, or unique developments.  It's not hard, and if you can work for a month and not have an answer to a question like "So, how's work going?", I don't think you're really trying.
