Figured this would (for now at least) be the appropriate place to post this, but someone has posted an "unboxing" (aka pulling of the shrink wrap and opening the game case) for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night on Youtube and just in case some people still want to be surprised when they get their game I'm using the spoiler tag.
UPDATE/PSA: just happened to see that the official Playstation Youtube channel has posted a 16 min gameplay video for Bloodstained on their page and the video features some gameplay from the Inferno Cave area that's been briefly shown off in some of the newer trailers. I'm posting this as an added update/PSA just in case anyone is subscribed to the channel, but wants to avoid spoilers,etc.

That Playstation video was really awesome. Like, super spoilery, but very good matketing material,I think. If anyone was still on the fence, then this would be a good way to convert them.
We get a cool looking area with what seems to be some really challenging rooms, and a very nice look at skills and weapons that really drives home the variety we're in for.
Super stoked for what looks like a ton of unique weapon skills! I really wonder what way they are going with them, like if it's generally 1 skill for each special weapon, or if you can get multiple for one.
A lot of them could be and are apparently shared between a few, while that linked staff move looks like it would be pretty unique for that weapon.

ovenkitty Backers does not. Unless they live close NY where they sell the game as we speak. I have heard that 505 is royally pissed about this and is taking action against that store. Thought I saw mention of it at the kickstarter, but it's been buried under all the unhinged craziness over there. Maybe someone official can weigh in on this for me?

Yeah, backers are pissed too.
Street-date that are broken is a serious matter. I dislike the whole idea of people showcasing it early in videos and streaming services. Its disrespectful like crazy. And all for a theory of them getting a few extra bucks (store) or views (footage). Sad.

I watched quite a bit of the game play videos for this game since they started popping up years ago, which is why I'm getting the game. I don't mind being spoiled from any games, because sometimes I rely on the videos for them to solve a difficult puzzle.
As for stores breaking street date, I'm quite disappointed with those stores not honoring them. As for the unboxing video I don't mind that as long as those copies aren't going to the one opening them at that time.

I wouldn't go that far shutting down a store, I would hold back stock and make sure the store in question doesn't get said stock until after the street date.

KMart got fined over $200,000 for an early release of MW2. That's the one I specifically remember. I can only imagine that a mom and pop store would not survive such legal movement against them.

I absolutely love it. Parries are my jam, and I can see it bring really helpful in tight corridors. I hope it can parry anything.
I assume it's exclusive to short swords, or possibly even that specific sword though? A parry move being available would definitely have me reconsider what weapon to use.

I like parries, but they're typically in hack-and-slash games like God of War or... *shudders* Lords of Shadow. The only metroidvania I can think of that had parries was Samus Returns, which I liked, (the game, and the mechanic), but it did become too central and "core" to the gameplay. A lot of players didn't like it, and "no parry runs" actually become pretty common in the meta. I'm optimistic that it will be employed well in Rotn, but it is an interesting inclusion. I'm almost certain parries haven't been in any other Igavanias, except for maybe one of Johnathan's special martial arts abilities in PoR.

Never parried. I don't like strategy. I don't like hard puzzles. I don't like "you have to get good to pass this obsticle", unless that obsticle is an enemy. I like to attack, I like to keep a flow. I like instant-action..
If I ever parry, perry or what ever it is called. It will be out of a hidden skill I have developed.
I guess this is their answer to the lack of "shields" in the game. I've seen one shield, but its not used like in SotN. Never used shield in SotN. So this feature is kinda new to me. Will see how far the fun-factor actually extends by learning it or not.

Parries should be a choice where you can get a big advantage from performing a difficult to execute move, but it should probably not be a required strategy, especially in this kind of game as it would take away focus from skillful movement to avoid damage. Kind of like in blooborne, I think it has a place as an alternate viable playstyle for those who enjoy it.
The fact that in this game it is almost certainly weapon limited and takes a chunk if mp even for failed attempts should make if more of a bonus thing for most people.

I think it's just a big damage option anyways. I couldn't parry worth a crap, but it looks like the window isn't as 'git gud' as it is in Dark Souls and the like.
I'm banking dollars to donuts that most large enemies will mow right the hell over your parry anyways.
