So I encountered the Gambler boss and... His HP changes to however much money you have after he absorbs it. I had 2 million+ money. Needless to say... the boss became impossible. I've only actually ever killed him twice, both times with 777 - wouldn't that kill him regardless of his HP? I had the gambler ring equiped, I think. You talking about the slot machine? I was referring to the giant gold boss you fight in Den of Behemoths

At least in NG+ you can throw them but upgrading the shard is also problematic.

At least in NG+ you can throw them but upgrading the shard is also problematic. I bought 99 gold and some other stuff. I earned it all back in half an hour of farming. I forgot about Gold Bullet. I already upgraded all my shards to the max before I started Nightmare mode so that will be useful for this boss.

There maybe more interesting mechanics than what we think. I found something interesting with one of them this morning. Rather than try and type out the explanation, here is a video showing it.
Edit: Internet is going slow, Youtuve says it has another 13 minutes until it is done.
Edit: Video on Techniques is updates.

So uh... the forum is undergoing some MAJOR thread organizational changes. Spoilers are now ok to post in general with the following important considerations: 1. Keep spoilers out of thread titles! 2. Keep spoilers in spoiler tags no matter where you are. People browsing the "recent posts" section should know that's dangerous for spoilers, but it is polite to do so. I don't plan on taking moderation action for the lack of spoiler tags.
The use of black text will not work well for each user. Yes, that is a good solution for people who use the default theme, but most themes and mobile will have problems with black text either being too readable or unreadable unless selecting, and that isn't always easy with a phone/tablet.

Best Ending Wishlist: Step 1: Zangetsu will give you a paper charm shard after the train section, which prevents Alfred from escaping during the boss battle (must use it to successfully hit him). You can then talk to Johannes who will agree to meet with Alfred at a position where Dominique cannot follow you. Step 2: Fight Zangetsu and he will still give the sword to you. Board the train and you will find the two Alchemist there as well, who will devise a plan to save Gebel. Step 3: Go find O.D., who will claim he don't know if he wants to betray Gremory and test you. The boss fight ensues with the same difficulty as the Glacial Tomb one. Then Johannes will come in and spend a bit of time in the Library. Step 4: Head back to the red moon room, where the three will set the trap for Gremory. Step 5: Go fight Gebel, which then cause Gremory to appear. Slash her with Zangetsuto. Johnnes will remain here to tend to Gebel. Step 6: Gremory will escape to the trap which you will be both sucked into the Den of Benemoth. You must fight a giant Gremory. Hopefully you have crafted High Jump. Step 7: Dominique tries to sneak attack Alfred but was wounded by Zangetsu instead. Step 8: Gremory uses her last breath to pull in a weakened Dominique into the Den of Benemoth, and a horde of giant demons are about to pour out, which you, recovered Gebel, Zangetsu and Alfred will repel. Step 9: Alfred then heads back to the village with Johannes and scold him for inexperience. Many new recipes are opened up and Alhest costs significantly reduces. Gebel is also here resting. Step 10: Chase Dominique through the Den of Benemoth into the Glacial Tomb. She will be used as a sacrifice and the fully powered Beal is summoned into this world, (a chamber directly below the centre of the Garden) and he is absolutely massive. Step 11: You find a weakened Dominique, and only Johannes is willing to save her. However O.D. shows up and heal her. However, his real goal here is to recover the book Miriam didn't return, and said Demons do not enjoy being summoned against their will. Step 12: The two Alchemists send the entire castle back, and Dominique survives but broken, both physically and mentally. Zangetsu reclaimed his sword and said he is going to mercy kill Dominique, but got stopped but the trio who had a change of heart. This probably won't happen. I, too, hope for and ending that leaves Alfred and Dominique alive. And if I may go out on a limb, I actually half-expect that this will happen. Call it a hunch, based on the character design of the latter. I just feel like the devs would find a way to keep them alive, that it was planned all along, and that the ending we have for now was never intended to be canon.

I just feel like the devs would find a way to keep them alive, that it was planned all along, and that the ending we have for now was never intended to be canon. Castlevania is known for ditching the cast. The only characters that sticks around are Dracula and Alucard, and occasionally Camilla (SOTN and Dawn of sorrow is a direct sequel and then there is Wind in Portrait of Ruins which most people seems to hate). I can honestly live with completely different set of characters. In fact, my biggest question is if the demons actually die from shard absorption. (the only one that resurrect for sure is O.D.) (For some reason I keep imagining OD as Valvatorez. Patron Rule No.1: You must always return the book every time you leave)
I think at best either Miriam or Johannes return at a noticeably older age as supporting character. Besides, the idea of a modern or even futuristic setting is actually somewhat appealing. Imagine guns that actually rapid fire and you enchant bullet using spells or add alchemical propety via crafting, or a particle cannon that a shardbinder can mess with (mega man, lol), or swords with a motor (a bit of a stretch, unless you can make mechnical wave with comparable frequency to Microwave). Honestly I can even have a more ancient setting before the many spirits are twisted by Christianity and a more 'pure' alchemy.

I was just thinking that it would be pretty amazing if it had been planned originally, in Mega Man X style from Inti Creates' DNA, for Zangetsu to hand off his sword to Miriam like Zero does for X as one of the "final" weapons. Blue/red, Zangetsu is a tragic character like Zero, "varied projectile enemy-learned" abilities character versus melee-focused character... (above was pre-release well before I played the game)
well, lol. Sure was right about that. It ended up being even more similar than I thought. I'll make a full thread about this later

Revenant while not tough might be my favorite boss. one of the creepier designs and it just felt so classic IGA. So clearly a dead Belmont in a sense and.....I love how it has the classic belmont movement. Even it's entrance comes through a thing very similar to the doppleganger from SOTN.

Just wondering... I've looked around a bit online... does anyone know what the deal is with the Celeste room? I figured that since it's been a week or so, and no one's figured it out, that there must not be any secret to discover. I've also seen it suggested that this may have been a backer-designed room from one of the tiered rewards. Can anyone confirm?

Yeah, seems the only thing in the Celeste Room are ghosts that materialize. Music boxes don't seem to make a difference and no order or mix of melodies seems to cause anything special to happen. Pretty music, though.

I see no reason why that room should have been locked with a key like the other rooms. I don't like Red Herrings.

BIIIG oof at this after beating the game. I was hoping that at least Zangetsu would survive, but the ending at least makes sense considering how bittersweet a lot of them were in CotM, heck thinking about it now, this is probably the happiest ending we've seen so far for the franchise. Though I do think that RotN's ending, despite the neat story, felt like a nothing ending to me- like there should have been more to the cutscene besides Miriam and Johannes talking.

Me neither, drove me crazy trying to figure out what was the deal with the room, looked at the internet and everything. I mean at least the SotN's confession room you could get hurt or be given a drink, here nothing. Though the Revenant boss fight more than made up for it.
