PC is suppose to mean "Personnal Computer" if I remember correctly. From what I see now, how can I even call Windows a PC if they are going to "sell" our data :/

I'm on Windows 10 now, almost everything is good. But my Start Menu just doesn't work at all, I cannot pin anything to the Start Screen which annoys me a lot. Googled for a while and found I''m not the only one, the problem is there ever since the technical preview version.
All they said is "try sfc /scannow" or "repair install" and something general like that, doesn't help at all. Now I'm using Classical Shell for replacing the good old Windows 7 style Start Menu back.
I can't believe M$ screwed up such an important feature left it in a buggy status then just rolled out new OS...
EDIT: Somehow I have the feeling that the problem is related to the registry or a bad user configuration file since it's not caused by a system file corruption...

www.rt.com/usa/311304-new-windows-privacy-issues/www.techworm.net/2014/10/microsofts-windows-10-permission-watch-every-move.htmlWindows 10 apparently spies on you by default. “Microsoft collects information about you, your devices, applications and networks, and your use of those devices, applications and networks. Examples of data we collect include your name, email address, preferences and interests; browsing, search and file history; phone call and SMS data; device configuration and sensor data; and application usage.”“We may collect information about your device and applications and use it for purposes such as determining or improving compatibility” and “use voice input features like speech-to-text, we may collect voice information and use it for purposes such as improving speech processing.”“If you open a file, we may collect information about the file, the application used to open the file, and how long it takes any use [of]it for purposes such as improving performance, or [if you]enter text, we may collect typed characters, we may collect typed characters and use them for purposes such as improving autocomplete and spell check features.”Definitely keeping 7 now.

Yep, I'm not installing windows 10 until they do some serious backpedaling like they did with XB1. No thanks. I don't care if this stuff can be "disabled", they'll probably turn it back on anyway.
There is no such thing as a free lunch
With windows 10, you're not the customer, you're the product being sold.
And I mean no ill will to those that use or enjoy windows 10, that's your prerogative

so far the 2 major issues with windows 10 is problems with auto integrating drivers (hey at least they are trying this, you know how many programs you need to update all the time to keep them on latest / safest release?) and tracking (people upset over this really? I mean you know how much information google keeps on you? everytime you do a google search or use their browser it takes IP, hardware & software capture so anyone can basically be identified, no way to opt out on it grabbing those settings, you can opt out on tagging it to your google account, you could use duckduckgo but that search algorithm sucks, apple tracks you more than that, but hey at least microsoft is giving the OPTION to opt out on win 10). And to whoever said they are sticking with windows 7, why wouldnt you upgrade to 8? all it does is optimize things especially gaming. Don't liek the metro screen, just install Classic Start, done. There is always going to be issues when a new software rolls out, just give it a few months if you don't want to deal with the hassles of bugs. This computer came with 8 when I bought it new and I immediately removed it and installed 7. Windows 10 looks more appealing than 8 but the fact that it's filled with built in spyware and mandatory updates is off putting.

so you never actually say why you dont like windows 8, the only response I have ever heard is because of the metro screen. just install classic start and that will fix that. yea it is off putting, but like i said at least microsoft is giving you the option to opt out unlike google and apple. the only way to not be fully tracked is trustworthy VPN, flavors of lunix, firefox, private e-mail and duckduckgo search. Metro was my biggest reason I absolutely despise the layout. I know they updated it in 8.1 but still, just no lol

I don't care about tracking this and that. Being connected to the world doesn't scare me. That's totally fine. Some people like having the data be used for a more personalized experience. I'm more concerned over privacy regarding data and consent over being tracked. All the data being monitored on Windows 10 is done by default and users have to learn how to disable it rather than being given the option when they first start using it.

Yep, lack of transparency on MS's part is a darn shame. It's almost as bad as the TPP.. Almost.

And to whoever said they are sticking with windows 7, why wouldnt you upgrade to 8? all it does is optimize things especially gaming. Don't liek the metro screen, just install Classic Start, done. Several reasons: - As far as I remember back when Windows 8 came out it had issues with much of the previously software not working properly. I suppose this kind of problems were ironed out by now but a bad first impression leaves a mark - Second reason would be ideological: W8 metro interface was a hot mess of mobile tiles/touch control shoehorned into hardware that is primarly non-mobile and mouse operated. Installing W8 would be - even if at barest, minimal level - like saying to M$ that this shit is okay. It's not okay. - And no, "install Classic Start, done" is not a solution to metro, at least not a complete one. Because even if I did that I'd be still deprieved of one feature of W7 I learned to appreciate over time: Aero interface. Yeah it might look like another minor gimmick at first but I found ability to quickly check on minimized/out-of-focus apps or to take a peek at my desktop (and any gadgets/rainmeter apps on it) by moving mouse to corner of my screen rather than by minimizing and re-opening all open windows surprisingly convenient. - And discounting the above rather personal reasons there is one other: Not being one of the three people out there that like Metro interface I don't really have a reason to move up to W8. I don't recall there being any features that W8 has and W7 doesn't that I'd want (was there even any major difference other than Aero vs Metro and gadgets vs apps? Can't remember). I don't recall ever hearing about software that'd work on W8 but not W7. And neither did I hear about anything that'd work better on W8 than on W7. So no point in upgrading. PS. If the above post seems incoherent and my train of thought hard to follow that's because I haven't slept a wink tonight and I can't into words

So, they want us to test their product while they spy on us? Do we also report if some of the information gathering software isn't gathering enough intel? Should people call MS costumer support if their PC doesn't report all of their food and toilet breaks?
