This Kickstarter is suited for adults. It shouldn't be viewed by minors. Although the page doesn't contain any graphical content, the description, dialogue and such has sexual content. You have been warned.
Subverse Explore a wacky galaxy full of hot alien babes in this kinky new Sci-Fi RPG mashup Subverse is a a tactical RPG/SHMUP hybrid that takes place in a fully explorable galaxy where you get to be the Captain of your very own ship which is crewed by the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit. The game is a space shoot them up game, mixed with tactical RPG (like Final Fantasy Tatics) combined with some kind of dating simulation.
Basically, Subverse is the first try of FOW Interactive in the world of gaming. FOW is a underground company that became famous for creating high quality 3d adult videos, some of them highly controversal due to their themes. They proudly say that they are the "team that was banned from Patreon".
What started just as a test of their capabilties became a sucessful Kickstarter that reached it's goal absurdly quickly already and now is funding stretchgoals to further push the content.
Claiming that they are trying to represent people that enjoys adult content and that such content has been subject to censorship in gaming, they hope to change the status quo a bit, regarding such controversy.
To those who enjoy such content, to those who may enjoy a mixed RPG/SHMUP hybrid, and maybe to those who think that adult content suffering censorship (specially in the west) is something debatable or wrong, this game may be a good, funny idea to be a backer.

there's a lot of talk to be had about the need for Subverse and why more platforms should allow games like it, but the game itself sounds like it concentrates more on cutscenes than it does gameplay, maybe if it goes above and beyond what their last stretch goal is they will finally start talking about things they can add to the game instead of how they can improve the cutscenes but until then I have little hope for it.
when it comes to fan service in games I prefer the gameplay to be sexy, not gameplay < post gameplay story

The few hentai games I've played in the past were always total crap or almost total crap. I mean, why make a game (and usually with the purpose to lose) that plays like garbage to make me see Hentai stuff that I could find on the Net without the hassle.
This looks promising though. The ideas are in place, premises are solid (plus the guys seem cool, some of the things written in the campaign made me grin), and the concept of rewarding with the NSFW scenes for actually playing well is much needed. I hope they can deliver a good quality game "enriched" by the spicy stuff and not spicy stuff with a mediocre game on the sides. Thanks for posting this, I'll follow the project and wait for some gameplays or reviews, but this could be the first H game I actually enjoy.

There are some elements of this project I can appreciate - the animations (the 3D work in general) and character designs for the dateable cast are excellent (though I will mention I hate the male captain who looks like some Hentai Kamen reject) and some of the humor works for me. But alot of the other humor feels more try-hard and the pitch taps a bit too much into grievances (and as a result has attracted at least a few "weird" people if the comment section is anything to go by) for my tastes. I don't know anything about FOW and their past but I'm not going to lie, even as someone who likes lewd stuff from time to time, hearing they got banned from Patreon makes me kind of scared LOL.

FOW's 3D animation is truly excellent. Their H movies are easily available on the major... let's say "specialized" websites lol they're a bit on the hardcore side though. Not for everyone (but at the same time it's not too excessive IMO, I read about H animes that sound far worse). |

Was that what it was, something with Chinese pledges not going through? I remember hearing that a bunch of donations they had just disappeared mysteriously, they saw it in the stats. Was it the Chinese government cracking down on content deemed "objectionable" or something?  |

gunlord500 I read in the KS comments something about Chinese backers'preferred method of payment. Apparently it's a method that is often used for frauds and so some sites tend to reject it entirely, even if for Chinese people it's common to use it with no ill intent. At least that's what I understood. Bummed about that for Chinese players and also for the game because two millions is an incredible sum. But as it is, all these money for this kind of game... It is quite spectacular, really.

A few days prior to this kickstarter ending a few thousand Chinese backers had their pledges canceled.
the stated reason was fraud, fraud was assumed because large amounts of backers could be traced back to a couple different credit cards
immediately following those cancelations a flood of complaints filled kickstarter / backer comment section claiming there was no fraud, the reason for large amounts backers using the same credit card was because few Chinese own international credit cards so they grouped up to pay a few people who did have international credit cards so they could use the same card for many different backers.
as time went on the amount of Chinese backers slowly went back up to around where it was prior to the purge as everyone assumed the issue was resolved, but then about 15 minutes before the campaign ended thousands more Chinese backers suddenly had their pledges canceled.
have not heard a reason given as to why those pledges were canceled the 2ed time, but I would assume it was the same reason as the first time
