Lots of new things to talk about... Bloodstained: Ritual of the night had it's Update #80, showing off new stuff, specially a whole new system called Shortcut. But that's not all, we also got a glimpse on new gear and shards, among other information. Considering what was revealed, let's go for some QUESTIONS! 1) The first thing we can notice at the new update, is the graphics. We get a good glimpse of Garden of Silence, the Entrance, and Miriam herself on the menu, among other things. What do you think? Graphics had a improvement? They look the same as before? Did you dislike how they are now? 2) Shard types was mostly renamed. Trigger Shard became Conjure Shard (that was shown before), Effective Shard became Manipulative Shard, Directional Shard is the same, Enchant Shard became Passive Shard and both Familiar Shard and Skill Shard is still using the same names. What do you think of these changes? did you like those new names or you was more fond of the old ones? 3) Not only Shard types was renamed, apparently, some Shards themselves got new names too. We can see Thrashing Tentacle (TSwing Tentacle?), Gale Crawler (Raging Gale?), Bone Toss (Bone Thrower?) and True Arrow (Straight Arrow?). Do you think these are new Shards, new names for these old Shards or something else? 4) We also have new Shards revealed. They are Va Ischa ("Fling a sharp silver of ice toward enemies"), Craftwork ("Grab on to certain objects and manipulate them"), Petra Ray ("Fire a beam in the designated direction that petrifies enemies") and Augument INT ("Increases your INT"). Not only this revealed the first, ever, Manipulative Shard in the whole game, but that's quite a lot of new ones. Any word to say about them? 5) Lots of new Gear was seen on this update: Accessories: Sunglasses, Dance Mask, Hyperventilator, Rusted Ring, Unicorn Ring, Plunderer's Ring, and Cat Ears. New Body Armor: Kung Fu Vest and a new Scarf: Tattered Scarf. Anything to say about them all? 6) The main part of this demo, is a new Shard, a Skill Shard called Shortcut, that is actually a whole game system where you can create equipment and shard sets and switch them. Do you think it is a good idea that such system is tied to a Shard (so, you need to find it) and it needs to be leveled up to unlock new slots? Or would you prefer if Miriam already started with such system, or with things unlocked? 7) What do you think about the input to use Shortcuts? (holding LEFT TRIGGER (L2 for PS4) and pressing L ANALOG)? Do you think it could be different? Or how it works could be different somehow? 8) We can see that you can equip an item on it. It seems everytime you switch to a Set with an item, that item is automatically used. Do you think this feature is useful? useless? couldn't care less? 9) Are you going to use the Shortcut to it's fullest, or you don't see an use to it, for your gameplay style? Maybe you just equip everything that's best and that's it? 10) PAXEast 2019 had a updated build of the game for the Switch. We can see they added bookshelves to the game, that shows critical information (such as attributes and inputs for weapon skills). Did you like that feature? 11) New itens can also be seen at the PAXEast 2019 video. They are tomato, rusted ring, cotton, corn seed, rice seed and potato seed. Do you think such itens will have any specific usage? 12) Anything else you would like to add about this new update? That's all folks!

I think making Shortcut require a shard gives it a reason to exist. Rather than just being a feature for the sake of having it, we can have some justification for it existing. I'll probably, also, use Shortcut to have one set for progression skills, one for general combat, one for ranged / unorthodox combat methods, and the rest for frequently used items. My excitement for this is so real as well. They implemented this so nicely. It'll be so easy to quickly switch to any set from any other set.

1) The first thing we can notice at the new update, is the graphics. We get a good glimpse of Garden of Silence, the Entrance, and Miriam herself on the menu, among other things. What do you think? Graphics had a improvement? They look the same as before? Did you dislike how they are now? I like the graphics. All the scenery have been more pleasant to the eyes, if that makes any sense, than from previous glimpses we had. I feel as though we are going to be in for a treat and a solid gameplay experience tremendously helped by the visuals. The graphics look and feel like they have been under lots of refinement.2) Shard types was mostly renamed. I think the names sound much better than what they were before. The new names are more to the point. Conjure is more suited to alchemy and the time period of Bloodstained than Trigger, which is too general. Manipulative is straight to the point whereas Effective sounds too broad and not as meaningful. Passive is not too much of an improvement over Enchant in my opinion, and despite this, I think Passive, like all the others above, is straight to the point. Good work on the devs and Iga with the naming.3) Not only Shard types was renamed, apparently, some Shards themselves got new names too. We can see Thrashing Tentacle (TSwing Tentacle?), Gale Crawler (Raging Gale?), Bone Toss (Bone Thrower?) and True Arrow (Straight Arrow?). Do you think these are new Shards, new names for these old Shards or something else? These actually can be both I think. There may very well be shards that have similar-to-exact functionality but of different tiers. Like possibly a shard that enhances a particular stat by 10% to 25% found near the beginning, then another shard that does 50% to 100% of that same stat which will likely be found later in the game.4) We also have new Shards revealed. I can't wait to use them myself!!! They are all very Igavania in name, and I am happy about this. Shorcuts tied to a shard reminds me of the Faerie Scroll and Spirit Orb from SotN, and so I think it's totally fine. 7) What do you think about the input to use Shortcuts? (holding LEFT TRIGGER (L2 for PS4) and pressing L ANALOG)? Do you think it could be different? Or how it works could be different somehow? I think that is a good idea to use the out-of-the-way shoulder buttons for shortcuts. Even better would be if the player can be able to manually change button assignment for shortcuts from the config menu. 8) We can see that you can equip an item on it. It seems everytime you switch to a Set with an item, that item is automatically used. Do you think this feature is useful? useless? couldn't care less? I think this can be seen as pretty useful in speedrunning or just playing the game so that multiple actions can be done in fewer button presses. I personally can see myself using this before or during boss fights.9) Are you going to use the Shortcut to it's fullest, or you don't see an use to it, for your gameplay style? Maybe you just equip everything that's best and that's it? I can guarantee that the more I will play Bloodstained, the more I will make my gameplay experience richer by trying out and eventually using the tools given to the fullest.10) PAXEast 2019 had a updated build of the game for the Switch. We can see they added bookshelves to the game, that shows critical information (such as attributes and inputs for weapon skills). Did you like that feature? I think this is an awesome feature and would prefer this style of tutorial for everything.11) New itens can also be seen at the PAXEast 2019 video. They are tomato, rusted ring, cotton, corn seed, rice seed and potato seed. Do you think such itens will have any specific usage? Alchemy comes to mind. Planting crops like how it's done in Odin Sphere, but instead of anywhere in the field, it's in a specific garden area.12) Anything else you would like to add about this new update? Just want to comment that the more I hear about customization, the more I really want to customize Miriam!

Ah, Pure Miriam . Good to see the questions keep rolling. Once again, I shall give my answers in Vepar Teal textTM!!! 1) The first thing we can notice at the new update, is the graphics. We get a good glimpse of Garden of Silence, the Entrance, and Miriam herself on the menu, among other things. What do you think? Graphics had a improvement? They look the same as before? Did you dislike how they are now? I would say it's a definite improvement, though graphics were far from my primary concern. It does make me want to see sneak-peeks of more areas in the castle, though.2) Shard types was mostly renamed. To be honest, just like I thought of the Conjure Shard name-change, I think they'll end up sounding more appropriate. Just judging from the description of the "Craftwork" Shard, for example, it seems that Manipulative Shards will (as the name implies) allow Miriam to directly manipulate some elements of the surrounding environment. Similarly, I think Passive is a better name than Enchant simply because the purpose of the yellow Shards is to automatically enhance a specific capability of Miriam's, rather than putting anything else under a spell.3) Not only Shard types was renamed, apparently, some Shards themselves got new names too. We can see Thrashing Tentacle (TSwing Tentacle?), Gale Crawler (Raging Gale?), Bone Toss (Bone Thrower?) and True Arrow (Straight Arrow?). Do you think these are new Shards, new names for these old Shards or something else? Personally, I think at least two of these may be new Shards, and possibly the result of Shard-crafting.4) We also have new Shards revealed. Only that it sounds like I'm going to enjoy using Craftwork, judging only from its description. I'm probably going to frequently make use of "Augment INT" once I get it, too... as I like the option of having enhanced magical power.5) Lots of new Gear was seen on this update: Accessories: Sunglasses, Dance Mask, Hyperventilator, Rusted Ring, Unicorn Ring, Plunderer's Ring, and Cat Ears. New Body Armor: Kung Fu Vest and a new Scarf: Tattered Scarf. Anything to say about them all? I have something to say about three of them; I'm genuinely curious about what the "Unicorn Ring" and "Hyperventilator" do, and I think I can give an educated guess on the "Plunderer's Ring" (likely increases drop %-rate of rare items).6) The main part of this demo, is a new Shard, a Skill Shard called Shortcut, that is actually a whole game system where you can create equipment and shard sets and switch them. Do you think it is a good idea that such system is tied to a Shard (so, you need to find it) and it needs to be leveled up to unlock new slots? Or would you prefer if Miriam already started with such system, or with things unlocked? In my opinion, making shortcuts tied to a Skill Shard gives it an actual reason to exist in the game (e.g. it's not just "there"). So yes, I think that [just like the Doppelganger Soul from Dawn of Sorrow, & the Glyph Sleeves from Order of Ecclesia] it's perfectly fine to delegate this system to a Shard.7) What do you think about the input to use Shortcuts? (holding LEFT TRIGGER (L2 for PS4) and pressing L ANALOG)? Do you think it could be different? Or how it works could be different somehow? I'm personally fine with it; I'd also agree that people who'll play the Steam version of this game on PC should be given the option to assign shortcut sets to number-keys as well.8) We can see that you can equip an item on it. It seems everytime you switch to a Set with an item, that item is automatically used. Do you think this feature is useful? useless? couldn't care less? Could it be done better? Yeah, I think so, but I'm honestly fine with it. I don't see myself using Potions on the fly, though (I'm the kind of guy who prefers pausing to use healing/curative items).9) Are you going to use the Shortcut to it's fullest, or you don't see an use to it, for your gameplay style? Maybe you just equip everything that's best and that's it? I'll use it. All I need to do is experiment with options (and see if options I want are even available as abilities). I might start out "optimal" at first, but may realize that I actually need an alternative set or two.10) PAXEast 2019 had a updated build of the game for the Switch. We can see they added bookshelves to the game, that shows critical information (such as attributes and inputs for weapon skills). Did you like that feature? Maybe I won't need to read online guides as often as I thought I might, after all (not that I plan on using any guides for my first playthrough). When my completionist instinct finally kicks in, I might appreciate that feature.11) New items can also be seen at the PAXEast 2019 video. They are tomato, rusted ring, cotton, corn seed, rice seed and potato seed. Do you think such itens will have any specific usage? I don't know about "rusted ring" and "cotton" (the latter likely for crafting a piece of equipment). As for crafting new foods for Miriam to eat in order to gain permanent stat-boosts? Why, yes indeed I do think the other four will be useful.12) Anything else you would like to add about this new update? Only that I'm probably already going to know where to find the 'Shortcut' Skill Shard (and possibly a few other things shown) when I finally get the game, because I backed the project at the $500 tier ("Architect's Secret Map"). ...Not that I'll likely get it earlier than most other backers, of course, because I love to spend lots of hours fooling around in this type of game. Ah yes... That should be all for now. Yet another question-thread answered!!
